Emblem books are a category of illustrated book printed in Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries. Typically containing a number of emblematic images with explanatory text. Scholars differ on the key question of whether the actual emblems in question are the visual images. The accompanying texts, or the combination of the two. Rare Wooden Fold-up Mallard Drake Decoy - Very Unusual
Fold-Up Wooden Carved Mallard Drake This has to be a rarity. I have never seen one before. Some carver went to a lot of work to tuck the head under and in the body of this mallard decoy. It is wooden and the head is hinged with a dowel or rod to fold under and into the cavity on the bottom of the decoy. It has a metal clip that clips to a screw to hold it open. I can only imagine that after making a few of these. The carver thought it was a lot of work for what he got, and probably didn't make many more. It is nicely shaped with glass eyes(one is chipped) It had been horribly overpainted and has been restored to as close as old original paint underneath revealed. We certainly know of several Pan Am world's fairs and tickets-from 1901 in Buffalo to the Panama Pacific in San Francisco in 1915. This fair. Sneaking in before the huge'39 fairs on both coasts(New York and San Francisco) was in the Lone Star State in 1937 and the fair definitely was small by world's fair standards, and we would have to do some studying to determine just why Texas was holding a"Pan American" Exposition in the first place. If you collect fair tickets, this is a mint and unusual one and very inexpensive, too, especially considering it's little known as fairs go. And we'll send it postpaid. Only in the US.

I have for auction these three vintage jewelers hammers. They where all purchased from the same estate. they all are unmarked. And to me, appears as artisan made. These are unusual shapes to me. the largest hammer is 4.7 ounces including the handle. This hammer head is right at 5 5/16' long. The second hammer is 4.0 ounces, including the handle. The hammer head measures 4 3/4'long. there appears to be very minor damage to the claw end of this hammer. An very unusual very well made Norwegian 830 silver ladle. It is hallmarked with the 830S standard mark only and dates to the early 20 th century. It has been beautifully designed having a nicely shaped internally gilded bowl and broad handle decorated with a shell motif. Unusual Antique Scientists Tin Laboratory Alcohol Heat Lamp
This highly unusual lamp was used in a laboratory probably in the 1860-1880 period. It originally had 6 caps for each of the spouts. Depending on how much heat was desired for a specific experiment a certain number of spouts would be capped to get the right amount of heat. For example if lots of heat was needed the scientist would use all of the spouts but if the scientist wanted a cooler temperature he would put the caps on a few of the spouts. The varying sizes and the large amount of spouts allowed the user to have very good control of the experiment temperature. The lamp itself probably ran on alcohol and is made of tin. Except for the spout area and the cap which are made of brass. You are bidding on a small. 4 3/4" x 6 3/4" old, puzzle. The colors are bright and it is in excellent condition. Unusual Antique Silver washed copper, Asian, Middle eastern prayer bell, Early
This listing is for a beautiful piece of silver washed copper. This piece appears to be a form of prayer bell that would have set on a wooden dowel or base of some sort. I am not by any means an expert in this area. And brought this piece to a local antique dealer to clarify what it is. He informed me that it was his belief that it was a middle eastern islamic prayer bell. This hand hammered piece is engraved along the outside with nice repetitive patterns. This bell measures 5 and 3/4 inches in diameter at its widest point and about 3 inches tall. THe inner circular hole measures about 1 inch in diameter. This is a nice and obviously early piece. Though I do not have a specific date from my information it would likely date from the 1890's to the early 1900's. I welcome any and all quesitons regarding this nice early bell. The seat is fabric and is 13 ¼ inches wide by just over 9 ½ inches deep. Mid century modern. The legs are gray and show some scuffs and white blemishes. One of the rubber feet has a split in it. Unusual Old 47 gram Cast Sterling Hopi Style Tawa Sun Face Buckle
This is a very unusual coin silver or better buckle. It is loaded with classic Hopi symbolism and the design is classic Hopi. But this is not an overlay buckle; it's a cast buckle that could easily be taken for an overlay buckle. In my opinion this is a very unusual Hopi buckle. The buckle measures 2 ¾ inches by 2 ½ inches. Will accept a 1 ½ inch wide belt and weighs 46.8 grams or 1.65 ounces. Like most of the older buckles it is not marked for silver content and is unsigned. The design of this buckle is based on the classic Sun Face or Tawa Kachina. The top half has the rays of the sun over a design known as the sun's forehead. Both have traditional Hopi texturing. But the 2 cheeks of the Tawa are not traditionally represented and have very important Hopi symbolism. The cheek on the left of the picture shows rain. ... moreWhich is a blessing in dry country and is needed to grow corn, and the corn plant that is also a blessing as it is important in sustaining the Hopi people. On the right cheek. The moon symbolizes the Creator's role as the protector and guardian of the earth. The cross symbolizes the earth's forces. This is a very unique horn that served two purposes over its history. This is a beautiful antique powder horn with a beautiful carved neck. It has a very nice patina. The outside curve is 16" and the inside curve is 14" It is a nicely carved hunting powder horn and at some time the end was replaced with a hinged cap and when I opened up I found very old, old tinder inside the horn. There is still black powder also in the horn. This is a very beautiful and unusual horn. The original strap remnant with a rose shaped knot present. The remnant leather is very brittle. This horn could still be used as a tinder horn or the cap secured and sealed and used as a powder horn which was its original use. You can smell the sulfur from the black powder in the horn. MAYBE THE MOST UNUSUAL ALTEC LANSING SPEAKERS (TWEETERS?) THAT YOU'VE EVER SEEN?
This auction is for a pair of very unusual tweeters(a total of 2 tweeters) I recently purchased these completely bizarre“Altec Lansing” Model 2000B speakers(I am assuming that they are“tweeters” at an estate sale. I have never seen anything like them and YES. Their cones are supposed to look the way they do in the photos(more about that later) I was told at the estate sale that both tweeters spent their entire lives inside some fantastic custom-made cabinets which were made for them by their original owner. The cabinets were no longer there and I purchased the tweeters which are being sold in this auction. At the same estate sale, I also purchased a pair of Altec-Lansing 412C Biflex speakers which have already been sold. I was told at the estate sale that the Altec Lansing 412C speakers were actually connected to the Altec Lansing Model 2000B ... moretweeters being sold in this auction. The tweeters being sold in this auction are in really great cosmetic condition as the photos show. I have provided many photos for your consideration. If any of the photos don’t load. Please click“Refresh” and they should then all load. Both of the tweeters are painted in a beautiful blue metallic color. They are quite heavy and appear to be very well constructed. The frames of both tweeters each measure approx. 5 inches in diameter(with the cones of each tweeter measuring approximately 3.5 inches in diameter) There are a few nicks, dings, scratches, chips, etc. on the frames/paint of the tweeters(for example, around the screw-holes which were used to mount the tweeters in the cabinets) but most of these items are too small to be picked up by the camera. One of the tweeters has the Code No. 391146” on it(with“S2” printed inside a box) while the other tweeter has the Code No. 391210” on it(with“S1” printed inside a box) As shown in the photos. The patina on these tiles is ab solutely intoxicating.to find a set this vintage and so well cared for is a pleas ure. The one bam standing pheasant displays the pride and beauty of this set. The added attraction of the unusual whi te dragon makes this a very collecti ble set! Complete with 15 2 tiles: 36 each bams. This is a scarce type of GGIE pass that one might assume would have been used more often. Yet we have never seen one before. This is a pass NOT for employees or concessionaires but only for PERFORMERS in limited time events, plays, exhibitions, and so on. In this case, it is for a performer in a circus that was entertaining fair visitors for a limited time. The light blue-green paper pass measures about 2.25x4 inches. It was folded in half once long ago and the fold is hardly visible as you can see. The ticket is stamped for the one day use on August 9. 1939, and it is also is stamped with the simple one-word designation"Circus. Up for sale is a pair of porcelain pear shaped. Avocado green mugs, which were made in Japan in 1972. The mugs stand 3.25" high, with a top opening diameter of 2.5" and a capacity of 9 floz. each piece is in good condition with no chips, cracks or crazing, however, as with many hand finished pottery, there will be uneven areas in the clay, glaze application or even mineral spots, which have been there since production. In this case one of the mugs does have a rust colored mineral spot on the rim, which is shown in pic 4. It may be removed with a speciality cleaner, but I don't know for sure. Unusual Novelty Rare Vintage Painted Stone Chinese Chessmen Part Of a Chess Set
These are very old strange Chinese chessmen. Made of what looks like some form of concrete. They are painted red& green. It is not a complete set. There are 8 green pieces& 9 red. Two pieces are broken the rest are in tacked but have shabby paint work. I am afraid I do not know a lot about them but they do look very old& they seem quite rare. They are also very heavy.
