Antique Dutch Solid Silver Hinged Top Pill or Snuff Box from Amsterdam circ 1820
Antique Dutch Solid Silver Hinged Top Relief Decorated Pill or Snuff Box from Amsterdam circa 1820 This Antique Dutch Pill or Snuff Box measures approximately 1 1/4 inches or 32 mm across its length of its lid from side to side by just under 1 1/4 inches or 31 mm across the depth of its lid from the hinge to the front and it stands 1 1/4 inches or 32 mm tall to the top of its lid. The box is made from solid silver in a delightful serpentine like shape and it has a three section piano hinge on the back of its lid. The sides of the outer body and the top of its lid have shaped panels that each has a different embossed or raised relief and engraved decoration and the box has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram, the underside of the body has been impressed with a Dutch.833 standard solid silver triple X over the ... moreletter B that I believe is an early Amsterdam assay office mark and this is alongside what was once a Dutch silversmith or makers mark, the upper rim of the body has also been impressed with a Dutch stylized dolphin tax mark that was used from 1814 all as photographed below and I estimate that this box was made circa 1820. The condition is used and fairly good for its age. The box has No Large Dents. No Splits, No Cracks and No Repairs that I have found, the box stands straight, the decoration is fairly crisp, the hinge is working perfectly, the lid opens with ease and closes tightly, the Dutch silver marks are rubbed or worn due to their location although as the pill or snuff box is a used antique it does have one tiny polishing wear hole within the raised decoration on the top of its lid and it has several small shallow dents around its body and lid along with along with some minor surface marks and wear from years of use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would enhance it greatly. Personally I think that this antique Dutch pill or snuff box would make a superb addition to any cabinet collection and that it could still be used today, I also

England in 1910 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, Arthur and John Zimmerman at their Regent Place workshops. It is oval in shape and is engraved to the lid with the initials LMD. It measures 3 1/2" wide by 3 1/8" deep by about 1 1/8" tall. It is rather substantial- it weighs 85.4 grams- virtually 2 3/4 troy oz. There is makers mark to the base. The maker is an unattributed Hanau maker of the late 19th century It's beautifully proportioned and tactile at 79mm x 52mm x 22mm. Description This is a very sweet. Tactile and intriguing little box from South America. I would date it to the 1930's. Possibly even earlier. I was told that it was brought back from ECUADOR in the mid-20th Century by a Missionary. It is. Unquestionably, Andean and is tested, high grade SOLID Silver. It takes the form of a casket. 2.9 cms X 2.3 cms X 2.25 cms tall and weighing 19.5 grams. 0.688 ounces. It has embossed depictions of an Andean type peasant with a Llama and what appears to be. Possinly an INCA subject to the lid. It may originally have been intended to house snuff. Or any other keepsakes and would make a fine pill box. Other than patina. Antique Indian Solid Silver Raised Relief Decorated Circular Trinket. Pill or Snuff Box circa 1890 This Antique Box measures approximately 1 3/8 inches or 35 mm across the width or diameter of its lid from side to side and it stands just over 1 1/4 inches or 33 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed. The box is made from solid silver in a circular with a push fitting lid that overhangs the body slightly for ease of opening. The sides of the body along with the top of the lid have been hand embossed or raised relief and engrave decorated with stylized Indian scrolls, flowers and foliage and the box stands on a flat base the box has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below and although I have been unable to find any silver marks as is very typical with antique Indian silver items the ... morebox has been tested and it is guaranteed as being made from solid silver. I estimate that it was made circa 1900- 1920. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The box has No Large Dents. No Holes, No Splits, No Cracks and No Repairs that I have found, the box stands straight, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the lid opens and closes fairly tightly with ease although as this is a used antique trinket. Pill or snuff box it does have one tiny shallow dent in the side rim of its lid along with the obvious signs that it was hand made and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that this antique Indian trinket, pill or snuff box can still be used today and that it would make a superb addition to any cabinet collection, I also think that it has a delightful look about it considering that it's around 100 or so years old. Mini Sterling Silver Repousse Thumb Sized Gilt Antique Snuff Box Solid Perfume After much research on the web I have found this is most often described as a pill/ trinket box. This originally came with solid state perfume(its a mini compact) This box measures 1" x 1" x.5" and still has some solid perfume inside. This is Sterling silver and while there are no marking on the outside. Some examples of this same box I have seen have the"925" stamp inside under the perfume. Its total weight is 18 grams.

Antique Indian Solid Silver Relief Decorated Palm Held Pocket Tobacco or Snuff Box circa 1890 This Antique Box measures approximately 2 1/4 inches or 57 mm across the width or diameter of its body from side to side and it is 1 3/4 inches or 45 mm tall from the base of its body to the top of its lid when closed. The box is made from solid silver in a circular palm fitting oval ball like shape with a push fitting lid that opens the box in two halves and the top and either side of its outer body has been superbly embossed or raised relief and engrave decorated by hand with Indian jungle village scenes that are within decorative outer borders. The box has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below and although I have been unable to find any silver marks as is very typical with antique Indian ... moresilver items the box has been tested and it is guaranteed as being made from a high grade solid silver. I estimate that this palm held tobacco or snuff was made circa 1880- 1900. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The box has No Dents. No Holes, No Splits, No Cracks and No Repairs that I have found, the box is straight, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the box opens and closes fairly tightly with ease although as this is a used antique palm held pocket tobacco. Trinket or snuff box it does have the obvious signs that it was hand made and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that this antique Indian palm held pocket tobacco, trinket o Fsnuff box can still be used today and that it would make a superb addition to any cabinet collection, I also think that it has a delightful look about it considering that it's around 120 or so years old. Genuine antique flur de lys snuff box in very good condition for age only 2 minor fault from being perfect one is a very small dent on the side and the other is that the hinge has come loose everything is there just needs the bar and hinges sorting out. There is 3 very small hallmarks/stamps which i could see with my magnifying glass so have taken it to my local jewellers which he saw straight away he said 2 of the stamps/hallmarks would have had some sorted of written makers name on but has long been polished out so they are unreadable and the other stamp mark just appears to have a load of wavy lines inside the mark, also have had it tested and its 800 silver one last note is that one of the stamp marks has a diamond shape, measures 2" wide 3\4" tall

Antique Austrian Solid Silver Gilt Tobacco Snuff Box from Vienna dated 1854
Antique Austrian Solid Silver Engrave Decorated Tobacco Snuff Box by J Wenzel of Vienna dated 1854 This Antique Austrian Tobacco Snuff Box measures approximately 2 3/4 inches or 69 mm across the length of its body from side to side by just over 1 5/8 inches or 43 mm across its width from the hinge to the front catch and it stands 5/8 of an inch or 16 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed. The box is made from solid silver in a rectangular shape that has been internally gilded or gold plated and it has a nine section piano hinge on the back of its lid that has a shaped thumb or finger catch across its front edge. The entire outer body of the box has been wonderfully engrave decorated with a variety of patterns and the top of its lid has a rectangular shaped cartouche that has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family ... moremonogram, the box weighs 56.8 grams and the inner base of the body has been impressed with the Austrian silversmith or makers mark JW of John Wenzel of Vienna whose mark is recorded as being used from 1841 to 1860, it also has the Austrian silver mark that includes the letter A for the Vienna assay office along with the number 13 that is the Lodig mark of 812 standard solid silver and it has the assay office date of 1854 all as photographed below. The condition is used and Excellent for its age. The Tobacco Snuff Box has No Large Dents. No Splits, No Cracks and No Repairs that I can find, the snuff box is straight, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the hinge is working perfectly, the lid opens and closes with ease, the internal gilding is a good colour, the Austrian silver, date and makers marks are still legible although as this snuff box is a used antique it does have one small dent in the upper side edge of its lid and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. The mark above the fineness mark on the left is the assay office mark for Cairo. The three digits below it are the Arabic characters for 900. The center is indeed the lotus. BEAUTIFUL 833 SOLID SILVER SNUFF BOX ART DECO c1940 PORTUGAL PORTUGUESE ANTIQUE
A superb high grade silver box. It is hallmarked with the Portuguese mark beneath which are the numbers 833 signifying 833 silver standard. This mark was used in Porto and introduced in 1936. I would date this piece to c1940’s. It is also marked with a makers mark. It has been stylishly designed having an engine turned lid and vibrant internal gilding. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. The lid fastens nice and tight and the inside is perfectly clean. It measures almost 2.5 inches(6.3cms) across by a touch under 1.75 inches(4.3cms) by 1.5cms tall and weighs 52 grams. A well made good quality piece.
