This is a gorgeous antique or vintage silverplate footed candy bowl on pedestal. The design consists of perforated ornaments of Art Nouveau style. The bottom of the base has a mark-stamp with words inside a romb: BENEDICT and"B*a bee inside a celtic cross*B" see photos) Measurements of candy bowl are: approx. 4 3/4" in height. 5 3/4" diameter of the top dish, 2 7/8" diameter of the bottom base. These three small silverplate bowls all came from an auction in Vermont. All three have wear/use marks. Some rough spots, and some scratches. I have not cleaned them. This is a stunning little bowl measuring approx. 2" tall and 7 1/2" across the rise of the foot is approx. 1" The design is ottoman influence but the bowl does not have a makers mark. The rim of the bowl is rolled turned under and was probably machine applied so I'm thinking that the bowl is dated after 1940. Very good used condition with slight surface scratches but no dents. There is some tarnish but the bowl should polish up very nicely. There is one tiny dark spot inside the bowl that will probably buff out- see photos- it is hidden in the design but visable when the light is just right. Small silverplated bowl. Measures 6" in diameter. No wear in finish on inside. A couple of finish scratches on bottom of outside(see last 2 pics) Small spot on inside as seen in pic, where screw on bottom attaches in the middle. Not sure of origin. FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION WE OFFER THIS BEAUTIFULLY ORNATE SILVERPLATE COVERED CANDY DISH. IT IS MARKED'MADE AND GUARANTEED BY MERIDEN B. COMPANY' THERE IS A NUMER 2028 AND USA BELOW THE HALLMARK. THE MARK WAS USED FROM 1862 TO 1930'S.CLEARLY THIS IS A VICTORIAN PIECE. I SUGGEST THIS AS A CANDYTRINKET DISH BECAUSE IT SEEMS A BIT TOO LARGE FOR A SUGAR BOWL. BUT IS VERY USABLE FOR ANYTHING. IT IS VERY ELEGANT. WITH THE LID ON IT STANDS JUST UNDER 4 1/2" DIAMETER OF THE RIM IS ALSO 4 1/2" FOR DISPLAY YOU WOULD NEED A WIDTH OF 7 1/2" ASIDE FROM NEEDING A POLISHING. THERE ARE JUST A FEW MINOR SCUFFS AND SCRATCHES. REALLY EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR A PIECE THAT HAS SEEN SUCH HISTORICAL PERIODS. HAPPY BIDDING!
