Produced by fusing sheets of silver to the top and bottom of a sheet of copper or base metal. This'silver sandwich' was then worked into finished pieces. At first it was only put on one side and later was on top and bottom. Modern electroplating was invented by Italian chemist Luigi V. Brugnatelli in 1805. Brugnatelli used his colleague Alessandro Volta's invention of five years earlier. The voltaic pile, to facilitate the first electro-deposition. Unfortunately, Brugnatelli's inventions were repressed by the French Academy of Sciences and did not become used in general industry for the following thirty years. I have here a Vintage Sheridan Silverplate Paul Revere Pedestal/ Footed Style Large 12” by 6” Bowl. This very large bowl measures 12” in diameter at the top and 6 ½” at its pedestal bottom. It stands some 6” high. It is a BIG Silver Paul Revere Bowl(which is why the shipping is so high. It weighs A LOT! My mother gave me this bowl and it is just too big for my small New York City apartment! As you can see from the pictures. It is VERY TARNSIHED( dusty) but I think with a good polishing it would look great! I don’t think it was every really used for anything except display. My mother had it sitting on top of a china closet for 20 years which is why it is so tarnished and dusty. On the very bottom it says“Sheridan Silverplated” with the Sheridan Crown. Sheridan Silverplate Small Bowl. This bowl has a decorative floral edge which contrasts with its shiny center. The bowl is about six and 1/2 inches from edge to edge. It stands one and 3/8 inches tall. The brand name is Sheridan which is very lightly marked on the back of the piece. I focused on this in the third photo. There is a small(1/4 inch) spot on the inside edge of the bowl where plating has worn off. There are slight nicks to the plating but the bowl is in overall good condition. Massive Sheridan silverplate punch bowl set complete.
This is a massive punch bowl set.Silverplate made by Sheridan in great condition. The tray is lined with grapes around the border and is 20 inches wide.It does show a couple small places where the plating is getting worn,only about 1/4 in wide but is not even seen when cups are in place. Now that I have informed you of that small flaw,the rest of the set is in wonderful condition. The punch bowl stands 9 inches tall and 18 inches wide trimed in grapes with a matching ladle trimed in grapes also 12 inches long. The set comes with 12 punch cups 2 1/2 inches tall and 3 inches at the opening. All pieces are marked Sheridan and is not a mixed match set. The bottom is marked Sheridan and has the lion mark on each piece.and marked Taunton and is a very old set of silverplate. No international sales.

Lovely piece in vintage pre-owned condition with the appearance of age appropriate surface scratches. Some tarnish, no sign of plate loss or pitting. Do note; appearance of previous repair on one of the feet(foot sits slightly higher than the others) 2 dents visible from the inside of the bowl where feet are attached, 2 small dings in the lid(barely noticeable due to the engraved design) and small chip in Pyrex bowl. Sheridan Silverplate Shell Bowl Centerpiece Koi Fish Handle Footed Huge 16"
Up for sale is a vintage silverplate centerpiece bowl made by the Sheridan Silver Company. Sheridan was in operation from 1946-1973 in Taunton. Massachusetts. This bowl is marked on the bottom with the Sheridan hallmark of a crown next to an S followed by a shield. It is marked under this silverplated. Bowl is made in the shape of a large oyster shell with a Koi fish decoration on the top which could be used as a handle. There are two holders beside the fish that I would assume could be used for toothpicks to take out the shrimp or whatever type of small appetizers would be served. This has three finely detailed feet on the bottom. Bowl is huge, measures 16" long, 13 1/2" wide and is 3" tall(5 1/4" to the top of the fish handle) This is in good condition, no dings or dents. Vintage and Antique SILVERPLATE LOT Nobility SHERIDAN PAUL REVERE BOWL Leonard
This lot includes 5 recently polished pieces of silverplate serving ware. Great for vintage style decor or an attractive table setting. The first is a Sheridan Silver Company Paul Revere Pedestal bowl. 8 inches in diameter and includes a ruby red acrylic or plastic liner, allowing you to put ice in the bowl below the liner and keep things like shrimp cocktail cold or can be used without the liner as a centerpiece, fruit bowl, etc. It has a clean classic look that would be at home in any decor from colonial to contemporary. This item retains its original box, bag and literature(see last photo to read) Sticker on bottom. The next is a large 10 1/2 inch diameter fluted. Scalloped pedestal bowl. Both the bowl and foot are fluted and scalloped. This is a pretty, substantial and elegant piece. Unknown maker, though I believe it to be fairly old ... moreas it belonged to my paternal grandmother who died over twenty years ago. Next is a stamped oval tray. 13 inches at its widest point. Pretty decoration reminiscent of fleur de lis. Listed on box as'chased design' Retains original box. Made by Leonard Silver Manufacturing, stamped as such along with Hong Kong on the back. Would look pretty hung on a wall or on a table or ottoman. Lastly is the sugar and creamer. Marked Nobility Plate. I believe these to be from the 1920s or 1930s due to the design and the fact that my grandmother once worked at a department store at that time and bought many nice things then, but that is just a guess. Both are stamped on bottom. The plating on these seem rather thick, and they have a nice mellow sheen, not super shiny like the other pieces. All pieces are in very good condition. Though admittedly I am no silver expert. All have minor surface scratching from gentle usage, the creamer and sugar a little more than the others. The sugar has a bit of roughness along about half an inch of the rim.
