This vintage sterling silver pedestal bowl was made by Reed& Barton and dates to 1936. It measures eight inches in diameter and four inches tall and weighs 7.115 troy ounces. As shown. The bowl has some bends in the rim, several small dents, and typical light overall scratching, but still displays beautifully. If you're looking for perfection you'll want to pass this one over. But if you're like me you'll love this piece for its"perfectly imperfect" marks of age and use, as well as for its simple and elegant form. As shown, it even makes costume jewelry look great, although it would make a great holder for higher-end baubles that deserve a fitting place to display them when not in use. Mid-Century Sterling Silver Reed&Barton Dish/Tray/Bowl-Card/Soap/Butter/Pin/Nut
This is a vintage Reed and Barton Sterling Silver dish/bowl/tray in the Windsor pattern. The date mark on the bottom is a scale which I believe dates it to 1947- Mid-Century. It is rectangular with fluted and scalloped edging and measures approximately 5 1/4" x 4" x 3/4" The dish is further marked X957.Designating this particular piece style. There is another piece style marked X957 that is approximately the same width and length but is taller, about 2" There is no monogram or evidence of monogram removal, I did a hand polish. There are some scratches and use marks on the inside bottom. I saw no dings or dents. I think a buffing might take out the scratches. I used this tray as a business card tray in my office. I believe that it has a tailored,professional look. It probably was designed for home use and could certainly ... morebe used for candy, nuts, bonbons,butter,pins,rings etc. It would also make an elegant soap dish in a powder room. Established in 1824, is one of the oldest silver manufacturing firms in the United States.
