The interior of the lid has a partially padded floral fabric stitched to it with the sperratic stitches visible on exterior. The fabric is aged and could use un-mounting and cleaning. The basket itself is in very good to excellent condition and just has patina and dirt accumulations from passage of time. I swabbed some of the dirt but I guess the correct thing would be to unmount the inner lid fabric and do a fast soap and water rinse. 10 1/8 inchs widest diameter. 4 inches in height. FABULOUS Antique VICTORIAN Wicker FLOOR Sewing Basket Box Chest RARE!
This is an absolutely FANTASTIC antique Victorian wicker sewing basket from the 1800's which is a real PIECE OF FURNITURE! It is more than likely ONE OF A KIND! It is HEAVY for what it is and has two strong handles. The wicker is painted white and has so many INTRICATE designs in it that it is UNBELIEVABLE! I don't know what the different designs are called. In all the 40 years I have been doing antiques I have NEVER seen anything like it! It has a large deep compartment on top with a lid with a latch(solid wood floor to it) and underneath is an open compartment with a wicker floor. Piece measures 27" tall to the top of the handles and 25 3/4" to the top of the closed top compartment. It is 22 1/4"handle to handle. The covered top compartment measures 16 1/2" by 14" deep. Inside is approximately 16" by ... more13 1/2" and 5 1/4" deep. The bottom open area measures approximately 13 1/2" by 11" and is 3" deep. No maker's mark. Good condition with some wicker missing from one of the handles and one strand separated on the lid. Paint chipped in a few places but not bad. The bottom has a blue ribbon pulled through the wicker for decoration. It could also be used for a doll bed for a bisque or baby doll. It was made in Germany and is quite old and fragile. Victorian White Wicker Sewing Basket Fern Stand - May be Heywood Wakefield
Very nice victorian sewing basket stand that would also make a great looking fern or plant stand. It measures 34 1/2" tall and the top basket part measures 14" x 11" and is 18" wide at the widest part of the legs. It's in fantastic condition with just a little unraveling of the wicker on the handle and 3 of the little decorative balls are missing in the front- see photo close-ups- honestly not bad for a 100+ year old piece and it's not noticible anyway. Might be a Heywood Wakefield piece but there is no label or markings to verify it. Please ask questions before bidding as there will be no returns because of the high cost of shipping. Also. No shipping outside the US. Buyer pays $50 s/h in the US- if you are a more local buyer I might be able to reduce some of the shipping cost.

The top features a floral wreath and in the center of the wreath are two ivory colored tassels and rings attached to a crocheted centerpiece. The inside is lined in a pink crepe fabric and the interior top has a crocheted pin cushion. The exterior of the basket is a gray and gold washed color. The only notable damage I see are some small dark spots on the lining and a section of the wreath is missing. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL SEA GRASS WICKER ANTIQUE VICTORIAN ROUND SEWING BASKET WITH A GREEN SATIN LINING. THE ORIGINAL CORD AND BUTTON HAVE BEEN REPLACED-THE CORD WAS ROTTED FROM AGE AND THE BUTTON WAS MISSING. IT IS A VERY UNUSUAL DOME LID BASKET WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE WICKER. Beautiful Antique Victorian Wicker Sewing Basket Box Kit filled w Sewing Items
This antique Victorian sewing box or kit is in great condition. I believe it is made of natural woven wicker or rattan and is still filled with several vintage sewing items. It is almost 7 1/2 inches square and about 4 inches tall. It still has a round hook on the front to secure the basket. The inside is padded and tufted with blue material(possibly satin? and the top edge of the inside of the box is trimmed in bric a brac. The 2 heavy cord holders that attach the lid to the sides of the box are still in great condition. The bottom of the box is made of solid wood. There are several vintage sewing items that were in this box when I found it so I am including them with this auction. There are some homemade foam and felt animals.
