This piece stands about 7 1/2" high to the top of the glass bowl portion and measures 10 1/4" across the top rim. The silverplate holder is very ornate, with the handles resembling a branch with birds resting on them. A bird pattern is also repeated just above the basefoot. The peg bottom glass bowl has a scalloped rim and a frosted flower(rose? and ribbon pattern. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. There are a few white specks in the glass that are as made. There are also a few air bubbles and straw marks in the glass that are as made. The silver plate frame has no dents and no splits. This is an antique Victorian. I believe Webb Glass peach blown bridal bowl and basket. The basket is not marked. The basket measures 11" tall x 5 11 3/4" wide and 3 1/2" in diameter at the base. The bowl measures 9 5/8" in diameter. It has a burgandy opalescent glass rim and a rough pontil on the bottom. It is in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or repair. It does have a couple of bubbles. The basket could use a polishing, but is otherwise in very good condition. It is listed without a reserve. This is a gorgeous antique Victorian bride's basket compote bowl.the quadruple silverplate stand. Designed in the nature of the 1800's Aesthetic Movement, was made by the Meriden Britannia Company and it is signed, Meriden B. Company" on the bottom edge along with a number 241. The Early American Pressed Glass bowl that must have been designed for this stand precisely(or the stand for the bowl) is a clear glass, rounded canted straight sides with indentations on four sides.which line up with the indentations in the base of the stand. I do not know who the maker of the bowl was and the design appears to be some variation of a waffle or cane pattern with a waffle bottom. It measures between 9 1/2" 9 3/4" across the top and is 2 5/8" deep. Jan. 31, 1893 and number 1249. This item is 120 years old. A lot of embossing on this basket. Looks like a branch with apples on the inside bottom which are raised on the inside and punched in on the underneath. Branches, leaves and apples make up the handle which is hinged. 4 feet on which to stand with a gallery above the feet. Looks like the four corners which are indented in have an engraved design on them. This Basket is in excellent condition showing no wear on the silver. The hand blown opaque white bowl measures about 11 in. across and 3.5 in. high. The rim has exaggerated ruffled flutes terminating in amber coloration. What makes the bowl extremely unusual is that instead of sitting on the usual white metal frame with hoop handle. This has a heavy silver plated brass pedestal decorated with seperately assembled leaves and flowers and attached to the base with 3 numbered nuts that screw onto the stems. This type of work is usually seen on fine European metal table or mantle pieces. The pedestal stand on 3 shell like legs attached to a Greek key designed rim. The basket has the makers marks for WILLIAM BRIGGS& Co. which located in SHEFFIELD England- this silversmith was active at Wentworth Plate Works. 35 Andrew St. Wickes(1875-1922) apparently after 1900 their mark included the word Sheffield. The Basket is in very good to excellent condition with no damage. NO monograms and no signs of silver wear through. The basket is nice and sturdy with a weight of approximately 745 grams and measures approximately 10 1/2 inches across the handle by 3 1/4 inches to the edge of the bowl or approximately 8 3/4 inches to the top of the handle when in the up right position. Antique Rogers& Bros. Silver Plate Cake Brides Basket C.1874 Cherubs Small darkened area. Lacquer residue. Lacquer residue. For your consideration is this spectacular silver plate cake brides basket made by Rogers& Bros. Circa 1874. This impressive basket stands a whopping 16" tall to the top of the handle and measures 10" square. The design elements are amazing, with rounded shell shaped corners, ornate etching and a raised center circle with a house and mountain motif. The pedestal base is just beautiful with back to back cherubs on a heart shape frame and a bottom floral band. There are no dings/dents or noticeable silver loss other than a few spots on the underside, but they do not show. The basket was once protected with a lacquer coat, however, there are just some orange/brown traces left in a few spots, see last 2 ... morepictures. A bit more polishing should remove it. The only issue to mention is if you pull the handle on 1 side it will come completely out, otherwise left alone, it does stay in place and works well. Antique Van Bergh Silver Plate Cake Brides Basket C.1900 For your consideration is this antique silver plate cake brides basket made by Van Bergh Silver Plate Co. Circa 1900. Stands 9 1/4" tall to the top of the finial and measures 8 1/2" in diameter.the base is 4 1/2" in diameter. The top surface features both a shiny and burnished(non shiny) finish, very common in Victorian silver plate. The underside of the basket is shiny and the pedestal base is burnished. There is light silver loss present on the underside, but the burnished base is worn or it needs a bit more polishing. The basket has a slight tilt, 2 shallow pinpoint dings on the top surface and a dent on the top edge which doesn't show too much, see last picture. This fine antique Victorian circa 1880s large footed cake or brides basket by James W. Tufts of Boston. This large silverplate basket is ornately decorated with Birds and a Butterfly among the flowering branches and leaves. The entire interior of the basket is covered as pictured and has a gorgeous fluted edge. The basket stands on four ornate feet and has a fold down handle. This basket measures about 9 3/4" in diameter and stands 3" in height not including the ornate folding handle. With the handle extended the basket is 10" in height. The silver craftsmanship is excellent. There are no dings. Dents breaks or repairs, The quadruple plating is in very good condition and I see little ... moreif any losses. This is marked for James W. Tufts Quadruple Plate Boston pattern number 2741. I have lightly polished this piece to check for any silver loss or damage. The silverplating is still beautiful as this was always a cherished piece. The former owner had this piece engraved on the bottom for insurance purposes and to identify in case of theft. Any further polishing will be left to the new owner. The Jams W. Tufts company was founded in 1875 and was well known for producing a variety of different silver-plated items. This company was highly regarded for their very fine craftsmanship. This would make a fabulous center fruit bowl or can be used as intended back 130 years ago to serve pastries and cakes. Please view photos to further aid in description. This piece has a few issues. First 2 of the legs have separated from the spacer(I don't' know exactly how to describe that piece see the last 2 photos) causing the spacer to be crooked(please see photos 7 thru 10) the handle on 1 side is bent at the bottom, and about 1" of the flat rim overlay over the handle has separated from handle proper, some wear to the plating in spots. Antique Cased Pink Glass Brides Bowl, Victorian Silver Plate Basket Holder Stand
For sale is an ornate Victorian probably-quadruple silver plated bride's basket/stand with an exquisite ruffled cased-glass bowl. The pink glass starts dark at the ruffle and flows down to a pale pink at the center. The underside is white. This unmarked bowl measures 10 1/4" across at its widest. 3 3/4" at its tallest, and 2 7/8" across the foot, which has a ground, indented pontil. It is in excellent antique condition: No cracks, breaks, chips, or repairs; just some bubbles, pimples, a couple of slightly rough areas where the glass was bent for the sections of low ruffles, and 3 tiny spots of white color in the pink, all signs of having been manufactured more than a hundred years ago. This is NOT one of the Fenton reproduction bowls. The stand is unmarked; it stands 7 1/4" at its highest, 7 4/8" at its widest, ... moreand 3 3/8" across the inner part where the bowl sits. The bowl sits way down into the basket portion. The holder has three ornate scroll work columns that connect the basket to the base. A beautiful dove is attached to the stand between the columns. The four lion's feet are also very ornate. The holder is in wonderful antique condition: The silver plate needs polishing, but it is mostly intact; there are several scratches and two shallow dents in the bottom rim of the stand and one small dent and several small scratches in the basket upper rim. The silverplated frame measures 11 inches wide and is 11 inches tall to the top of the handle. Antique Victorian Cased Glass Brides Bowl, Ornate Victor Quadruple Plate Basket
For sale is an ornate Victorian quadruple silver plated bride's basket with an exquisite fluted cased-glass bowl. The pink glass starts dark at the ruffle and flows down to a very pale pink at the center. The underside is white. This unmarked bowl measures 10 1/8" across at its widest. 3" at its tallest, and 3 1/4" across the foot, which has a rough, indented pontil. It is in excellent antique condition: No cracks, breaks, chips, or repairs; just some pimples, a teeny cut mark near the center, stretch marks" in the glass around the ruffles, and 3- 1/4" shallow cuts near the rim on the foot, all signs of having been manufactured more than a hundred years ago. The basket is marked on the bottom rim: Victor Silver Co. Quadruple Plate 1280. It stands 11 1/4" at its highest, 11 7/8" at its widest, and 3 1/4" ... moreacross the inner part where the bowl sits. The holder has ornate scroll work and balls at the top and top/sides of the handle, and balls and floral ornaments where they attach to the basket. There is ornate relief work and bead work around the base and the four feet are also very ornate. The holder is in wonderful antique condition: The silver plate needs polishing but it appears to be mostly intact; no other conditions to report. A truly elegant silverplate swing handle brides basket or bowl. It was manufactured by James W. Tufts of Boston. MA between 1875 and 1891. It is marked Quadruple plate, and is numbered both 2769 and 35. The center of the bowl depicts a mermaid admiring herself in a mirror held for her by a cherub or putti. There is abundant floral decoration including roses, and the bowl rim and handle are decorated in a heart design. The entire piece is done in elaborate repousse in the rococco style. The swing handle moves easily, and the feet are perfect. It is lightly tarnished, and I guarantee there is no wear to the quadruple silver plating. Offered in this auction is a superb Silber& Fleming Victorian brides basket with purple/mauve enamel liner. C.1880! This piece is 10 1/2" high overall, 12" wide. Condition is excellent, there is no damage to either the frame or glass insert. The handle is slightly loose and could use a tightening, mentioned for accuracy only. The basket is fully marked with the crown, beaver, and PGS for Silber& Fleming. The repousse work is superb with grapes, flowers, vines, and etc. The cased glass liner is an exceptional purple shading to mauve with enamel flowers, very much nicer in person. Antique Brides Basket-Wedding Basket-Silverplate Holder-Peach
What a wonderful antique brides basket with original silverplate holder and a deep peach glass bowl with a white casing. No chips. Cracks, or repairs that I can find. The part that holds the bottom of the glass bowl looks to be a little oblong but the bowl fits perfectly and this does not show when displayed. A tiny separation in the stand where it was solder together when made. Could be fixed by a silversmith but it's such a minor thing I would leave it alone. May be the way it came from the company. The silverplate holder is marked Crescent Silver Co. on the bottom. The beautiful glass bowl is ruffled and shows no scratches. Probably a display piece only for many years. Antique silver plate brides basket. There are some dings/dents and grind marks on the bottom. I purchased this at a local antique auction. This one was with a group of other quadruple silver plate items. The material that it's made of is very soft and flexible. Bends very easily. The numbers on the bottom have been rubbed away. I can see a crown and the word"plate" with the number 3 and can't make out the other numbers. Please view the photos closely and judge for yourself as they are part of the description. Up for auction is a superb 19th century antique silverplate footed bride's basket or centerpiece bowl featuring a raised grape vine motif around the edge. An etched star pattern to the bowl, and a floral handle with a non-monogrammed medallion at the center. It is in overall excellent condition with minor wear commensurate with age.
