It has an elaborately carved floral and scroll crown and sides. Below the doors is a carved drawer as shown in the photos. It stands on carved cabriole legs and scrolled feet. Three adjustable shelves come with the armoire. As with all antique armoires. Wood supports can be placed in any of the carved slots running the entire length of the piece inside. An option for repurposing this armoire is to strip the silver from the mirrors, leaving the original glass thus making the armoire a display cabinet. Mirrors, glass shelves and lights can be added to really jazz it up. We have sold hundreds of this style armoire to use in any room of the house, not just the bedroom. Otherwise, these doors are not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the doors(check out our eBay store) If you would like any of the hardware holes patched with a solid block of wood. Have nothing in your houses that you do not consider to be beautiful or useful. William Morris French Antique Nap III Wooden Glove/Fan Box– Antiques Boxes Woodenware A very handsome brown wooden glove. Fan or jewelry box from the Napoleon III period in France(1852—1870) lined in tufted blue/aqua silk, with brass fittings and a lock and key. The box is in very good overall condition. The top has a fine brass cartouche and insert which is solid and complete as well as a tiny brass escutcheon where the key fits into the lock. There is some minor evidence of wear of the wood– small crackling in the vanish and on the top edging. The bottom corners have minor usage. Which is not surprising considering the age of the box and the fact that they were usually included in the luggage during travels. The interior padding is silk in a lovely bluish aqua. ... moreWith tufted buttons and all four sides are lined in matching fabric. The top and bottom tufted lining is impeccable– no tears, no rips, no wear, with only minor traces of lines on one side. There is some wear evident where the lining covers the bottom lock. All of the tiny matching buttons are present and well-attached. The two hinges are original and work well allowing the box to close snugly. There is a key and it turns slightly but does no engage the lock. The interior of the box measures 12 inches long and 3 1/4 inches wide. The exterior measures 12 7/8 inches. 4 1/8 inches wide at the center and sits 3 1/8 inches high. These boxes were used by gentlemen to store their evening gloves and by ladies to store their fans– both expensive and usually custom-made accessories. Please read before purchasing Vintage and antique objects have lived and been used and because of that. They sometimes show it. An Interesting Trade Catalog- Parisian Goldsmith's Catalogue of Ecclesiastical Silver and Other Work” Printed in Paris. Ca.1870-80. description continues below the picture- DISCUSSION: A beautiful pattern book issued by a Parisian( goldsmithing firm. Illustrating a variety of religious holloware, accessories, jewelry and accoutrements, including cruet sets with glass inserts, monstrances, bells, crosses, caskets(both in traditional forms and in the forms of cathedrals with glass sides) and jewelry, including crowns and flaming hearts. Many of the pieces of all types are noted as having enamel decoration, and many come with inlaid pearls or gems. All are tinted gold in the plates. Each page illustrates the(unidentified) manufacturer's mark, a square with a star above the initials ET. The only text given are the dimensions, item numbers, ... moreand notes about enamel, etc. The pages appear to have been assembled from two separate issues- one set of plates is just slightly smaller than the other and they have different printer's marks. There is a small inked note- Mainz 1881" on the endpaper. A striking catalog.
