An incredible accomplishment. The foundry work executed in this piece is above reproach- each gilt bronze mount is hand chased to the highest quality, mercury gilded and of outstanding detail. An angular and commanding work, the Armoire is surmounted by a triangular crest that is removable from the body with two dowels on either side- this is flanked by a pair of carved mahogany(replaced) finials. Beneath the projecting crown molding, an incredible gilt bronze mount of an angel riding through ocean waves in a cornucopia pulled along by swans while leaving behind a trail of shells is simply stunning. Flanking this on either side are opposing gilt bronze solider masks. The top is removable. Lifting off of large steel screws inside of the armoire to allow the door to be lifted from it's hinges for easier transportation. On either side of the door, pedestaled on large tapered columns rest large and highly impressive patinated and gilt bronze Classical female heads with bowed ribbon holding her hair back. These are the largest mounts of flawless execution we've seen on a piece from this period, each a stunning work of art in it's own merit. A hand filed steel screw secures each head to the case. Beneath the column, intense gilded Lion Paw's in the Regency manner complete the form. The arched door swings open with use of the original key. Revealing a golden oak interior of four shelves and a single locking drawer. This drawer is hand dovetailed with solid oak secondary woods, when removed revealing an illegible signature in period script along the dust board. Spectacular original knockdown wardrobe from 120+ years ago. Original finish; well cared for since new. 48" wide; you can use it as a closet for that room that has none. 87" tall including top cornice piece- make sure it will fit before bidding! Completely disassembles with no tools- top. Middle, and base all are held together with sliding wood clamps that cleverly attach the sections. This has been in the same family since new. It was last used as a gun safe judging by the racks on the left side. Both doors lock. Beautiful oak grain with no damage anywhere. No makers mark; just the number 31 stamped on a number of pieces. No wood damage or repairs. No rot. Two pictures show the underside without the casters or feet mounted- last picture shows misc items that came with it- the hook& eye holds on the top trim though it's ... morepegged and sits there just fine without it. The wood used is mahogany. The mahogany wood has developed a lovely, warm patina. Hold the door. I can't be certain, but believe it likely dates to the early 1900s. I had too many photos to include one of the patent number(small tag nailed inside the drawer) which reads: PROVL.PAT.NO. 86004-20. The inside compartment has three hooks across the center back top. And one hook on each side. The drawer ... moreis dovetailed. The mirror has a simple bevel. My photos aren't the best- sorry- bad lighting. I think. It's a medium-dark oak. Beautiful! Condition: Overall. For it's age, I think it's in nice vintage condition with age-appropriate imperfections. I think it displays beautifully(and is superbly useful) By way of flaws: 1) the left side. Center, shows a split(where two oak panels meet) it bows out slightly. I don't think it's really distractive, but could probably be remedied by the handy; 2) there's a 2" x 1/2" chip on one side, near the back, relatively near the bottom- hard to see; 3) can't really see it, but the bottom skirt is angled a bit, with a small split on one side; 4) the mirror I think is totally functional and charming as is, but has spots of loss of silvering and minor imperfections; 5) in the drawer, you'll see there are wood support blocks(these came with this- I assume for the underside- that look supplementary supports) that probably could be glued into position for additional support(I haven't investigated; the closet seems fine as is) 6) the door handle has pulled a bit with a small break in the metal- still

Large vintage antique armoire wardrobe nice needs TLC LOOK
Very nice old armoire/wardrobe. I am not sure of the age. But I know I was given this as a child(around 7) and I am 40. It came from my aunt who had it for 30 years that I know of. so its possibly 70 years old? I could not find a name or mark on it anywhere.It stands 52 1/2 inches tall. The legs keep it 5 inches off the ground. The front legs are a carved design but the back ones have had blocks added to them. Not sure if they had designs too that broke off or what. It has always been like this since I have had it. Its 18 1/2 inches wide(19 1/2 if you count the decorative lip around the top) Its 37 inches across(38 if you count the lip) The doors stay shut with a little latch thing inside. The doors are 41 x 17 and 1 inch thick. Its divided inside in 2. One side is probably for hanging items, but there was never a rod in there to hang anything. ... moreThat side is 16 1/2 x 21 and 46 inches tall. The other side has 3 shelves. Top one is 14 inches across, 15 inches back to front and 15 inches tall. The middle one is 14 inches across, 15 inches back to front and 10 inches tall. The bottom one is 14 inches across, 16 inches back to front and 20 inches tall. Cool decorative features around door knobs and at top, bottom and sides. Knobs are original. It has lost some of the wood on top, sides, on door. You can see in pictures. It has been painted outside 100 times. Last time was about 12 years ago my sister and I stripped it and tried to stain it cherry. Crappy job. But if someone is really god with furniture you could get this to look brand new. Nice solid piece of furniture. I have no room for it anymore. This will have to be a pick up only, and I don't have a car big enough to meet you anywhere sorry. you will have to come here to get it. This is an absolutely fabulous antique one piece Victorian four door mahogany closet or wardrobe. With original cloak hooks and campaign drawers and carved decorative finial. Currently having several shelf papered covered shelves someone added to increase storage space, a new owner could have additional or shelves more appropriate to the age of the piece made if desired or it could simply be used for that always needed extra space to hang multiple jackets and store books, gloves, scarves and sporting equipment within a stylish yet functional old Victorian wardrobe, most recently imported from the UK through Edinburgh, Scotland. This terrific four door closet stands 86 1/2 inches tall and measures 67 1/2 inches wide by 17 inches deep. Front to back. This is a hand carved french country armoire/wardrobe. With scalloping, built in the 1800s. Located in Sacramento, CA. Clothes bar. 2 bottom drawers. Top shelf- New knobs. 7 feet tall. It has the import carvings and date on the inside. It breaks down entirely into slats. It's easy to assemble and break down for moving. And has wheels. Easy to move around for cleaning. This antique. Studry and elegant knock-down armoire is up for grabs! Too huge for my place. Measurements: 95 inches(241.3 cm) tall. 56 inches(142.2 cm) wide, and the depth is 19 inches(49 cm) it's deeper at the top where the crown is, perhaps about 4-5 inches deeper) I believe it's mahogany? Up for sale is a turn of the century American made antique armoire/ wardrobe. Armoire is in pretty good overall condition and can be used the way it is. Needs a little refurbishment to be in perfect shape. Everything is missing from the inside except the lock. Which is missing the key. There are places where pieces of the veneer has come off. Armoire was originally built using tongue and groove and the back was held on with wood dowels. The dowels are missing and the back has been nailed on. The hinges have been replaced. Piece appears to be made of oak. Veneer is walnut. Local pickup or we'll work with you on shipping that you arrange. Antique Chinese 2 Door 44" Wide x 77" tall BRIGHT RED LACQUER Noodle Cabinet This is a typical style Shandong cabinet. This style is also referred to as a noodle cabinet. Or Bridal Cabinet or Wedding Cabinet The top overhangs on the front and 2 sides. And the vertical corner posts/ legs have rounded edges. They doors are a flat panel design. The front has a slight taper to the sides. This piece is finished in a BRIGHT RED LACQUER There are 2 drawers at the bottom of the cabinet. As well as 2 drawers at the middle of the inside of the cabinet. There is also a shelf inside the cabinet. The center post between the doors slides out sideways and is easily removable to allow fuller access to the cabinet. Antique wardrobe measures 80" tall x 19.5" depth x 5" wide. Ornate carvings and beautiful tiger oak(not sure) wood. It is beautiful to look at. Center door opens to reveal the interior 6 brass hooks and 2 rods. Bottom has two pull out drawers with brass pulls and key lock plate.Disassembles into several sections for more manageable moving. There is a small section(approx. 2" of wood inside that has fallen off and the ball legs have minor scuffs. As long as I can remember, the center door is missing the turn handle but still functions and opens. There are key holes on the door and drawers with lovely brass hardware but I'm not sure if it will lock. There is an old key provided. The wood is exquisite. It is quite the show stopper. We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique wardrobe. This dates to the early 1900's. Made from mahogany this is a sturdy and functional piece. It measures approximately 79" high x 11 1/8" wide x 17" deep. The door. Front side panels and top are decorated with string inlay. Each front side panel has an oval cartouche decorated with bell flower inlay and topped with an inlay bow. There is a key that comes with this but it does not lock. The handle turns to open and close it. There is a dove tail jointed drawer at the base. The drawer is missing the escutcheon and the lock mechanism is also missing from the drawer. The inside has both a rod and hooks for hanging clothes. This unit breaks down into three pieces for easy transport. There are appropriate signs of age and use ion this piece including scratches. FANTASTIC 19th CENTURY ANTIQUE FRENCH SOLID CHERRY ARMOIRE WARDROBE French Cherry Armoire Dating to the end of the 19th century. This super cherry Armoire is in good condition and is in the style of Louis Philippe. Standing on stub feet. The Armoire has a plinth drawer to the bottom with a further drawer above which is constructed with hand cut dovetail joints and has turned wooden knobs. To the inside there is a single shelf with a telescopic hanging rail below it. If required more shelves can be made for an additional £15.00 each. This is all enclosed with a heavy single mirror door. i would recommend that the armoire is located to the back wall as the glass door is quite heavy and it may tip forward if there is not much inside) This door has it's original glass which is all good but does have some foxing which I have tried to ... moreshow in the photo's. Handsome circa 1880s walnut Victorian Armoire/Wardrobe. Beautiful figural walnut veneer on the double doors and drawers. Great for extra storage/closet space. Flared Molded Cornice. Paneled sides. Shelves inside. Old locks with skeleton key although they are not very secure. Height to top = 89" 7’ 5” Width at base = 55” Width at widest at top of crown molding = 61" Depth at base = 19.5” Depth at deepest at top of crown molding = 23" The armoire does dis-assemble into several pieces for easier moving…can even be transported in a normal size SUV!
