This ball is marked"NATIONAL" in raised lettering. It has the typical chips on the top and the bottom that covers with copper caps that protect it and makes a tight fit to the 5/8" lightning rod. It has all the swirls and small bubbles in the milk glass that you should expect to see in an early ball. 19th Century American Full Body Copper and Metal Running Horse and Sulky Weathervane ca. 1880-90 with Directionals. The rider and horse have great form. The weathervane has great patina- nice verdigris color. SIZE: Horse and Sulky are 30 inches long x 14 inches high x 6 1/2 inches wide. Directional is 40 inches high x 23 inches wide. CONDITION: The weathervane has natural wear from age and exposure. The horse has a hole in its knee for placement on the directional. A few of the spoke wheels are slightly bent on the sulky. On one side. Two wheel spokes are separated from the round wheel. There are some dents and dings overall. Directional- the top ball has dents, and the bottom smaller ball has a couple small dents. Recent estate sale purchase. Bridport, Vermont. Purchased from one of our prime local vendors, we knew we just had to have this one. We do not know how old this one actually is. The few opinions we have had so far is 1940's but we honestly do not know as we are still novices in these type of items. Overall this piece measures 53" tall as mounted on the 1 1/2" wood base. The weathervane arrow measures 24" long. The rooster measures 19 1/2" tall x 15" long ... morex 3" thick. The body(including the head and the legs) appears to be two pieces of stamped copper(non ferrous? soldered at the seams. The tail is a flat piece of stamped metal soldered on to the body. The rooster is soldered on to the tubular arrow. The rooster does lift up and off the mount. With the exception of the two balls, one just below the arrow and the other below the directional markers, the remainder of this item is iron. The directional arrows are fastened to a tubular shaft with set screws. These are moderately rusted and weathered. This tubular shaft is threaded on to a round small mounting base plate which is fastened to the wood base. Very good overall condition showing atypical age related patinas, wear, corrosion, etc. We see a small spot on one of the arrow tail feathers detaching from the shaft and may need new solder or epoxy. We see the small two halved copper ball has a tendency to want to separate when not under pressure of the rooster pressing down on it. Another solder or epoxy fix. Antique Cast Iron Ornate Weathervane Lightning Rod ARROW ~Looks to be Kretzer
ANTIQUE ORNATE IRON ARROW Measures 22.75" long. There are no breaks. Cracks, or repairs to this fancy old arrow. An eBay search shows me it looks just like a Kretzer but I don't see the name where it usually is. See my last photo. Don't know if they were ever unmarked or if it could wear down that much? We are not weathervane people. There is no glass. See photo 8.Should there be something there to hold the glass? We suspect so.Probably an easy fix for those accustomed to working with weathervanes.

I am so pleased to offer this Rare 19th Century Folk Art Tin Articulated Native American in Original Surface This is a rare 19th century folk art tin articulated Native American in original painted surface. He is made in a most delightful folk art style crudely fashioned from a piece of tin and then secured together with rivets to allow it to be moved into multiple positions. He is holding an upraised tomahawk in one hand and the other is free of anything. With the rivets allowing the arms to move up or downward. It appears he is wearing some form of a Native American headdress. He is wearing a long coat, and appears to be wearing some type of shoes or boots. All the rivets work excellent, which allows the figure to be positioned in a number of ways. The Native American is painted in a vibrant red paint which appears to be original and is ... moreuntouched with wonderful oxidation and natural wear. The condition is excellent with no breaks to the tin, and the paint is in remarkable shape with as expected wear and minor rust. It measures 12 3/4" high x 6" wide. Plain Round Lightning Rod Ball 4-Star Weathervane. This is an all metal arrow use on systems where a plain round ball would be mounted with end caps in the middle of the circular center of the arrow. There is a whole in the bottom and top of the circular center which takes the verticle rod of the system. Four stars are attached to the circular center. The vane is in excellent shape and appears to be all original. Originally. It appears that the stems of the stars were threaded rods that screwed in to the circular center. However, time and weather has corroded the rods and they are permanently fixed in place. I would not want to remove them for fear of breaking off the ends of the short star rods. The vane from arrow tip to tail tip measures 22" in length. Star tip to star tip in height is 9" The opening in the center is 5.25 in ... morediameter. Antique Copper Horse Weathervane. Weather vane. This came off of a very old barn that is well over a hundred years old.Dont know age of weathervane,looks very old. It measures from the base plate 45' tall to top of horse. Copper pole that horse sits on is 30 1/2' long. Horse is 29 1/2' long 13 1/2' high 1' to 1 1/2' wide. The horse is loose from the pole and needs to be solderd and one of his ears are missing. The letters measure 18' across. Letters might be brass but do have same pateener as copper parts. WOW. Beautiful all complete and original Aluminum Horse Weathervane. Just removed from a Barn here in Ohio. The balls are gold painted but are also aluminum. It comes apart easily and goes back together the same. It also has the mounting base on the shaft. Very Hard to find all complete. It is roughly 40" tall at it's tallest point x 33" wide. Up for sale is an antique horse form weathervane recently found in the Northern indiana area. It is found in good used condition and comes attached to part of its original post. It is sheet metal and offered in as found condition with its original finish. This piece has pegged construction as it joins the post. The only condition issue to discuss is rust to both sides. The directional post the horse rests on is missing both ends and the tail shows minor losses. It measures approximately 12" x 8 1/2" in size. Nice Antique Vintage Marietta Weathervane
Up for bids is this very old Marietta weathervane. I think its pretty rare. I havent seen another one. The m needs sautered back on which will only take a second or 2. I would have done it before listing it but i didnt have any sauter. Very easy fix. I think it is made from aluminum just by the way it feels but im not sure because im not very good at my metals. It came off a very old barn.
