The missing end is not very noticeable. That one has old black paint.the whole one has rusted down.not pitted at all.just brown. Pair of large ornate shelf brackets in an oak leaf and acorn design. The ornamental iron is not centered in the middle of the bracket. Which results in a different look for each side. The brackets have been around for some time and required restoration(stripping, rust removal and repainting) The metal in them is coarse and they are believed to be later than Victorian. The brackets are square and measure approx 12 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches. They are 13/16 inches thick. Overall condition is very good and they only have a few minor dings and areas of chipped paint.

Matching pair of salvaged. 2 sided, antique brackets. They have pierced, bevelled carving with incised carving. Their ends are nicely contoured with ornately carved medallions above. The wood is walnut. Each one measures approx. 14 inches by 5 1/8 inches. They are almost 2 inches thick. If a smaller corbel/bracket is desired, their length can be cut in half VERY easily. There are a few stains and scuff marks but I always considered them part of the antique charm and never refinished the item. However given the solid wood nature of the shelf. They have no cracks and slight signs of use and age. There is a little paint loss to the black enamel and some minor surface rust as shown in the pictures. The brackets measure 9 1/2" tall x 7 1/2 across the top. They have an ornate curl on the end where the shelf would rest. I would say a 6" deep shelf would be placed in the area.
