Ca. 1920's matched pair of double candle Victorian Gothic electric wall sconces
Another of my"absolute auctions" 99 cent start& no dreaded reserve. BARN FRESH" from Alabama(really) I did evicted the spiders(and other critters) However(comma) these have not been cleaned. Not rewired, not tested. nice and dusty with all the"original" dirt, spider webs, roach poop& patina included! These are real"Adam's Family" or the Munster's) decor. VERY COOL. Herman Munster would be proud to own these! Lots of 80- 90 year old original paint left on these fellows(see photos) No notable damage to the main support structure on these nice lamps(you will need to find a good mounting bolt for the center hole(see photos) The main structure is a cast metal. It is not cast iron as the metal is not magnetic. The"tin" bobeches(wax catchers) are bent/banged-up a bit. easily corrected ... moreby the proud new owner. The sockets are dirty. But may be OK once cleaned up. I would highly recommend rewiring these lamps. I usually do this before listing lamps/electrical items, however, I'm getting a bit lazy lately. Both sconces are marked on the backside"Pat. Applied For" Both old switches are there. they click when turned. But are untested electrically. I know. the word"untested" on Ebay usually means broken. I'm a bit different than most sellers. I bought these at a good price and can afford to have a bit of fun with this listing. Trust me. if I say untested, it most likely works. This is a pair of gold wooden sconces in the"Hollywood Regency" look that attach to the wall and have working electric cords. But will be sold without harps or shades. An estate find. I had them on either side of the bed to provide reading light. They have a lighter accent trim in the middle of each lamp and around the border of each base that has been added. They can be sprayed or painted any color that you may want. I am selling them without the shades. As they did not match. I used a round gold shade on one with a harp and a smaller round light sage without a harp on the other. The pictures show both shades and also the type of light they throw out from the larger gold shade. Smoke and pet free home to provide you items without any odor! The lamp portion has a new lightbulb base and is bolted into the back with metal rods, with felt pads covering the holes they are bolted into. It shows no other name or markings. Definite mid century styling. Each wall base is 21" in length and the attached lamp piece projects out of each base by 7 1/2" and the total depth from base is 9" without shades. Without a lamp harp. It is 24" tall. Depending on what type of shade you pick out it could bring the size to 32-36" The electric cords are in very good working shape, and the sconces as a pair are in very sturdy condition. NICE PAIR UNUSUAL EARLY MATCHING BRASS WALL SCONCES 1900'S NO RESERVE
This unusual pair of matching all brass wall sconces date from the early 1900's. Cast brass oval shaped back-plates and curved brass arms have bell-type 2 ¼ in. shade holders with vintage P&S paddle-key sockets. Heavy cast brass back plate has a nice design in relief around border. In as found used condition. Both have a nice aged patina. One of the bell shade holders is missing a grommet for a fitter screw(easily replaced) One has some remnants of old wall paint(see pics) Back-plates measures approx. 6 3/8 in. long by approx. 4 7/8 in. wide and project off the wall approx. 7 ¾ in. Brass, electrified wall sconces features detailed carving of tall ship sailing on a wave with ship's sails and flags flying in the wind. Ships mast and sails are painted in black and white with a red star featured on lower right sail(enamel work?and ornate scroll design work boarders the scene. Sconce has smaller"coat of arms like" ornament with red painted center that dangles below candle arm. Inside area of candle holder is marked"pat. pend.and there appear to be other initials located here but cannot make them out. All sconces feature what appears to be original wiring with original Ratner sockets and a switch on plate. There is a wall screw hole in middle of each sconce on wall plate. Single sconce measure approx. 10 1/4" tall ... moreby 4 1/4 inches wide. From candle base to wall measures approx. 5" Double sconce measures approx. 10 1/4" tall by 8 1/2" wide. Two vintage Art Deco slip shade sconces made by Markel in the late 1920s or early 1930s. The sconces are made of a heavy. Solid metal(steel, perhaps? One(shown on the left in photo 1 and in photo 2) has the original painted finish, which is in good condition. With a nice, aged patina. The other(shown on the right in photo 1 and in photo 4) has been repainted. The sconce on the left appears to have been rewired and given a new socket in the not-too-distant past. The sconce on the right appears to have the original socket and wiring. They are both missing the original mounting bolts and glass slip shades. Photo 7 shows the shades that originally came with these sconces; these slip shades turn up on eBay every so often. So you can find replacements. Antique art nouveau small brass wall mirror with 2 candle sconces
This is a charming small art nouveau wall mirror and 2 adjustable candle sconces. They are connected to the center of the frame with a bolt and ball nut that I do not feel are original although it has always been there for the 25 years that I have had the piece. It is all brass and has the face of a cherub at top center and on the back has a cast in loop to pass a wire through for hanging. The mirror is held in place by a metal strip screwed to the frame. The mirror is in perfect condition and measures 4" x 1 1/4" The complete length is 9 1/4" x 4 1/4" at widest part of frame. The sconces when fully extended are 8" and I will leave them that way for shipping. There are no identifying marks on it. I do not accept returns or give refunds. Solid forged brass, baked on enamel finish. Never needs polishing. There was some candle wax residue in the bottom of the candleholder, I removed as much of it as I could, they look very good, there is very little wear from use and age. EB engraved on the back of each sconce, which from what I was told is the old Baldwin Hallmark. These were purchased in the late 1960's. I had them packed away for a good many years, decided to let them go. They measure 10 inches tall, they stick out from the wall 4 1/2 inches, 1 1/2 inches deep. Thank you for looking. DESCRIPTION: Beautiful pair of vintage carved and gilded wood sconces. Old ink-stamped mark to the backs"Made in Italy" as shown in pic#5. Measure about 11" tall and the little display shelves are about 11" wide at their widest and 5.75" deep at their deepest. I would consider these very large examples. Please note. Two exactly alike and not a matched pair. Sometimes with these sconces, the curlicues in the carving reverse such that the lines of the sconces will mirror each other when they are displayed together on the wall and we call this a"matched" pair. In this case, you are buying two exactly alike and not a matched pair. Please review the effect of the sconces together as shown in pic#1 and be sure this is the look you are looking for.
