Up for your consideration is this Mattison. Russell, Co. iron door rim lock with bronze workings. It measures 3 3/8 by 5 inches, overall. It was made by the Mattison, Russell, Co. New Britain, Connecticut and dates to before 1846. There is an embossed identification mark on the lock butt. It is in good condition with some minor surface oxidation and wear on the old black paint. What you see is what you get; there is no key. New Britain. Connecticut, established its dominance as the center of American hardware manufacturing as early as the late 1700s. Blacksmith shops provided a multitude of goods, including nails, hinges, locks and keys that were distributed by traveling peddlars to the farms and small towns of early America. By the mid-1800s entrepreneurs formed factories to better produce goods that were in increased demand. The Russell& ... moreErwin Manufacturing Company originated in 1839 when H.E. Russell. Cornelius B. Erwin, and Frederick T. Stanley formed a partnership to produce locks and builders' hardware, under the name of Stanley, Russell& Company. When Mr. Stanley withdrew from the partnership in 1840, Smith Matteson and John H. Bowen were added, changing the name of the company to Matteson, Russell& Company. In 1846, with the death of Mr. Matteson and the expiration of the partnership terms, the company's name changed to Russell& Erwin. I have a nice early cast iron rim lock with catch for your consideration. Lock box manufactured by Russell Erwin in the late 1800's. Standard 1/4 inch drive operates latch and the secondary latch lock lever engages and disengages latch lock nicely for privacy while in room. There is no key for the deadbolt slide lock. You will have to either find one or have one made to lock the room while away. Included are a pair of black glazed red clay doorknobs with iron necks. Cast iron ornate keyhole cover, cast iron rosette, and a standard 1/4 driverod. Will need a cleaning and lube for optimal use. Springs feel good for reuse. It was a pretty common practice if you needed a part fast that you didn't have in stock. Measurements are; Rim Lock body is 6" long, 4" Wide, 7/8" deep. The keeper is 1" deep at the front and 7/8" deep on the other three sides. The Plate is 6 1/4" Long, 4" Long. PLEASE NOTICE Scratches on knob. The Display is 12" High, 14" Wide, 5 1/2" Wide at the base. The main body is 1 3/4" wide. I have an old cast iron rim lock for your consideration. Box measures 4 x 3 1/8 inches. Springs feel decent for reuse where the gear drive engages and disengages latch slide. Lever for latch lock engages and disengages lock for latch. There is no key so you will have to use without deadbolt until you either have a key made or find one that works. Will need a good cleaning and lubrication for optimal use. Im including a keyhole cover. Driverod, and a rosette. Door knobs properly flanged on necks. Catch has a small chip on underneath side although will still work. Could be repaired by a welder reasonably easy and would not be seen on underneath side either way. I have an early pre civil war rim lock for your consideration. Large heavy cast iron measuring approx. 5 3/4 x 4 1/2 inches. Upon inspection appears to be functional and intact. Original knobs were not acquired with this so you will have to fabricate something on the drive neck which is on the box on both sides. One of the coil springs came off as I was inspecting for the latch privacy lock but I am pretty sure I replaced it properly. It is an unusual lock and I am unfamiliar to its design. It also appears to use a larger than normal skeleton key which I do not have for the deadbolt. You will have to find a key or have one made if you are going to want lock your premises while away. Nice privacy lock if you want to fabricate a flush strike plate or find a surface catch that will work. I have a hard to find early Russell Erwin pressed or stamped steel ornate rim lock box for your consideration. Manufactured somewhere around the late 1890's. Hard to read markings although I have had similar dating to which. Ornate pressed patterning on both sides. Catch has a small chip that could be repaired by a welder if desired although will work as is. The key is missing its barrel and will need a new barrel tack welded on to the flat for keyed operation of the deadbolt slide. I turned the key with pliers and it slides deadbolt back and forth although should have a cleaning and lubrication for optimal use. I have an interesting early rim lock for your consideration. Smaller size with skeleton flat key manufactured in Brooklyn NY by Bohannan manufacturing co. Early pat date appears to be 1895 or 6. Hard to tell. Catch does not appear to be original to lock although looks that it will work nicely depending on your application. You might want to use a flat strike of some sort as well for a flush jamb application. Upon inspection looks intact although could use a cleaning and lube for optimal use. Eastlake Ornate Brass and Iron Rim Lock Door Hardware, PYE , 1869
Eastlake Style Door Hardware. Ornate Brass and Iron. Marked PYE Co. Patent March 30. 1869. This has knobs, back plate for door, but unfortunately no keeper. The switch lock functions and the knobs turned easily when it was put together. I think the knobs are pottery as they are not magnetic. They have some grooves and flaws in the manufacturing of them. The Rim lock is 3 3/8 inches wide, 4 5/8 high and 13/16 deep on the latch side, 5/8 inches on the other. The latch side phlanges out. This does have areas of paint and maybe some varnish on it. The back plate for the door has been painted brown. It is 2 1/8 inches square. Unfortunately there is not a key for it or the keeper. I believe that a keeper could be found here on Ebay.

I have a nice reusable BLW cast iron surface rim lockset for your consideration. Early Branford Lock Works manufacture with chucky brass tipped deadbolt and latch slides. Nice heavy lock box with catch. Period porcelain doorknobs, cast iron rosette, ornate keyhole cover and standard 1/4 inch drive rod. Lock box measures 4 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches. Knobs have appropriate flanging for door and box side of lock. Privacy latch lock lever engages and disengages lock for latch. I do not have a key for the deadbolt slide so you will either have to find a key that works or have one made to lock your room while away. Still quite a bit of original paint.
