Beautiful 1890s gold gilt bank vault door + 2 day doors (man cave entrance???)
This has been relisted as the first buyer did not pay for the item and the second changed his mind. I also forgot to include the double set of beautiful day doors on the first auction. Thank you for your patience! I finally have it straight. This is a beautiful 120 plus year old bank vault door from a historic bank building in central Minnesota. It has the original gold gilt striping as well as the original name painted on it. It is 74 1/2 in. high and 28 1/4 in. wide and weighs about 300+ lbs. The paper picture on it was very brittle and so we had it laminated to keep it in tact and then placed back on the door. This thing would be perfect for a wine cellar door or as a novelty door to a closet or man cave. The frame around it is not original and is made of wood. The hinges have a bolt that simply go through them and they rest on two pieces ... moreof angle that bolt right onto any wooden door frame for easy or minimal alteration for installation.What an eye catcher this thing is! With this auction comes the set of double day doors that were originally located behind the main vault door. These were also sometimes called heat panel doors They are also beautiful and quite ornate with the Macneale& Urban name on them. Check out the pics! I do not have a key for the day doors and on the main vault door one tumbler was left in the locking mechanism to prevent an accidental lock in after the building was no longer used for a bank. It was the custom in the old days to remove all of the locking components of an old vault door for safety reasons but this one wasn't removed as the subsequent owner probably utilized the vault for fire protection which would have not been possible if the locking mechanism had been completely removed. On the mail vault door all you have to do is spin the combination dial to one number and the bolts will then retract by using the lever on the front of the door. G orgeous antique Victorian Birdseye Maple and Maple Large Wardrobe Armoire Closet circa 1880-1890. I believe this was imported from Europe-most likely France or Italy. As this style dome in Birdseye Maple came almost exclusively from there during this period. I am only selling this as it is too large for my small Victorian home. And I have too much floor settling in my home to fully accommodate its functionality, unfortunately. This gorgeous armoire has beveled original glass mirrored double doors that lock with the original key. Everything is original-nothing is reproduction or replacement. A very rare find and nearly impossible to find this exceptional quality and condition in Birdseye Maple! This piece is very large and will need a large room with tall ceilings in order to accommodate! Assembled with meticulous pegged construction. Beautiful ... morebirdseye textures and floral carvings; inside are 3 adjustable shelves with many variations available with the built in bracket racks. Outer measurements 91 1/2" total height. 53" wide, and 19 1/2" deep. It weighs approx 220 lbs. Inside measurements are 76" high. 49" wide, and 14" deep. A very solid and sturdy piece- very little wear to the finish for its age and being birdseye maple! There are a few minor chips and imperfections typical of vintage and antique items that have been acquired over years of time and love- which only adds to the charm and character. 10 vintage post office box doors. national 1961. these door are in as found condition. all are in working order. No combinations, the dials turn freely on 9 of them and requires some effort on the 10th. i put a few drops of 3 in 1 oil to loosen it up. the paint on the windows is a bit chippy and there may be a chip in some of the glass. i have not attempted to clean these up so there is some grease, grim, dirt and tarnish involved. good solid doors. thanks for looking and email with questions.
