A Nashville restaurant built with repurposed materials, this piece features a turned body with gorgeous grooved details and a stylized finial. The newel post is in very good antique condition with the expected wear, as pictured. It measures approx. 6” wide and 48-1/4” tall. This vintage arts& crafts style wood newel post has a tapered column and beautiful square cap. This piece(and I do have 2 others) are from an 1800's home in East Aurora. NY. They had been tucked away in the attic since updating was done on the home many years ago. Measure: 33 1/2" height; Base is 6 3/8" square; Tapered column is 4 3/4" at the bottom and 4" at the top; Cap is 6 3/8" square. A lot of character in this unique piece of history! Painted post is crazed and chipped. Nail holes where it was installed and damage to the wood base- see the photos. Top cap stain is crazed and worn from years of use. Antique Gas Fixture Light Lamp Newel Post Etched Glass Shade
Here is a Victorian gas fixture that is also a newel post. The bracket that holds the shade to the post is damaged and we do not trust it without holding the shade on so we were not able to get better photos. It is a lovely piece and hopefully that shows. The pole is 52" long top to bottom, and it is 7" wide where the ornate elements stick out. Nice patina and in good condition. The shade is 4" high and 7 1/4" in diameter with no cracks or chips. This should be shipped in two boxes, one for the shade and one for the pole, if the new owner wishes us to do that we can send a second invoice for additional shipping. Description This is a great piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of oak and is currently painted white. The top has carved flowers on 3 sides and an arched panel. There is fluting below. The shaft has reel and bead moldings at the corners. Fluting and small bullseye details. The base is notched for the step but it is free standing. It measures 48.25 inches tall. 7.75 inches square at the base and 6.25 square at the shaft. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. A lovely carved wooden bird finial. From my Mother's garage. We feel that perhaps it is the finial from a staircase. 11" high, not sure of the wood, but it heavy and dense. I have listed many photographs, please see them all. It has the usual scuffs and marks consistent with age, but there are no major flaws. A lovely genuine antique item. Great patina. Apart from a rub with a soft duster, I have done nothing to the item. The bottom measures 3" by just under 3" so it is not exactly square, but a beautiful unusual item.

The clear glass is overlaid with white in the style of some of the fine French glasshouses or perhaps Boston& Sandwich-any help appreciated. The ovoid glass finial is mounted on a brass fitting. 19th Century Virginia Turned Walnut Newel Post Architectural Antique
Nice walnut turned newel post from a Virginia antebellum house. I purchased this post for a project but ended up not using it. It is 6" diameter at the base and 39.25" tall(not counting the 1" diameter piece in top center. The dark spots are from me using a wet rag to highlight the wood so that the photos show the walnut. The post has been painted a few times and needs to be stripped and finished. The post is also split. As some do, because they are turned from central part of the log. The split starts about 16" from the top, and gets deeper towards the bottom. At its deepest point, the split is 1.5" deep and.25" wide. It is a stable and old split and could be left alone. Good luck

These came from a very nice home with 5 Newels on the staircase. At Christmas time the owner would remove the simple walnut Finials and replace them with these colorful finials. Three simply screwed in while two had larger holes to fill thus the modifications. One of these were broken as you can see in the photos. Vintage Newel Post Finials 4 Four Total Oak Hand Made Appalachian Mountains. Physically these finials seem to be in great shape however they would benefit with some sandpaper and a touch of paint. These came from an Estate sale we attended some time back. I have left these as found in order to show the original paint colors. Looking at the wood that is exposed where the paint is missing you can tell that these were turned out of Oak. I am thinking that they may have been made by a local craftsman of the day but have nothing to back that up. The wood part of the finial is just a tad over 5" tall and the diameter is right at 2 3/4" The metal screw sticks out 1/2" below the wood base. Chip on one round band and some roughness on bottom as shown in pics, all of which can be repaired rather easily. Needs refinished. But in good condition to do so. Great old newel post most likely from an old home or building in Tacoma. Under the paint chips is a beautiful piece of old growth Northwest Fir. The post is very solid with no evidence of rot or decay. It is 38" high. And 6" x 6" actually 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" square at the widest point. The top is a nicely turned, unusual cone shape. Huge diamond facet cut crystal glass antique boule d'escalier newel post finial
Gorgeous antique newel post finial. Solid and extreamly heavy! The base is brass. And I have not seen many finials with such ornate detail on the brass base, so I would consider this quite rare. There is some slight damage to the brass where it looks like it was removed fom the newel post(I'm guessing) there are extreamly minor surface scratches on the crystal- but in remarkable condition over all. This piece is threaded on the inside of the base as well as having screw holes on each side of the base for mounting. Over all hight is between 6.5 and 6.75 inches overall.
