It consists of 2 brass knobs, 2 brass escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1 brass mortise cylinder with a brass anti-theft collar, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, 1 steel spindle with a setscrew and 1 securing pin to connect the knobs, and 12 installation screws to fasten the lock and plates to the door and jamb. All brass parts are solid. Brass, not plated steel. Except for the escutcheons which are stamped(pressed) brass, all brass parts are heavy, thick, cast brass. Originally, all parts were copper plated, however, only traces of copper remain. At the point of salvage. All parts were dirty and unevenly tarnished(see last photo) Since then, we've cleaned and polished all parts to the best of our ability. All parts have some cosmetic blemishes including nicks and scratches. Which are best conveyed by the photos. However, these just add a distressed charm to the parts and do not pose any threat to the structural integrity of the parts. All parts are strong, sturdy, and ready to serve another lifetime. Lock: The mortise lock is reversible and could accommodate a right or left swinging door. We found the cylinder mortise without a key. Without a key. We are uncertain if the cylinder works. You could take it to a local locksmith, who could rekey it for under $20. If it is not functional, you could also buy a new cylinder for the same price. The mortise lock was opened. Inspected, and we sprayed WD40 on and around all internal parts to facilitate their movement. The lock operates smoothly. Oriental keyed mortise lock We developed this lock based on the original Oriental mortise lock. This is a keyed lock with a matching strike plate and two brass keys. The face of the lock measures 7/8 x 5 3/8 inches. The lock body measures 3 inch recess x 3 1/2 inches tall. It is 1/2 inch thick. The backset is 2 3/8 inches. This lock will work on a standard door. The set is made of solid cast bronze of the same composition as the antique originals. Reversible latchbolt and deadbolt. 1881 and 1886 patent dates. No skeleton key. But it wouldn't be hard to come up with a replacement. Body is 3 1/16" x 3 5/8" x 9/16" Faceplate is 15/16" x 5 7/16" Very good condition. A better quality lockset back in its day and still working smoothly.
