What a great example of ceramic art: beautiful design. Wonderful color, exceptional craftsmanship, large collectible size and in absolute mint condition! This eye-catching large vase was made using a ceramic technique termed“slip-trailing” This decorating technique was pioneered in England by the Macintyre Works and the Minton Company in the 1870– 1890 period. Then taken to its height of craftsmanship and popularity by the famous Moorcroft Works from the 1920’s right up to the present day. Skilled potters using this technique apply tiny raised lines of the clay mixture to outline all the detailed elements of the design. DESCRIPTION For sale is an Ansonia porcelain clock patented June 18. 1882 and measuring 10 ½”H x 9”W x 5”D. It is a very attractive clock in superb mechanical condition. I had this cleaned and completely overhauled in 1999 but never displayed it or ran it. I got it out last week and ran it for a week and it ran perfectly and kept good time. The strike is wonderfully soft and appealing. There is normal under glaze crazing. Some wear to the gold trim and a small bit of paper torn off the dial at the VI. It comes with a 2-ended key. This clock is being sold as-is. I am not a clock repairman but my clock repairman looked at it and it is in great condition. If it is damaged in shipping. Really nice clock here by Seth Thomas Ticks away beautifully but with a chime snag as when I wound the chime up and it went past the hour it never stopped chiming until the winder ran out.
