The 89 movement was made and used by Seth Thomas for many mantel and shelf clocks from 1900 to 1940 with designations of 89. 89 A, 89 B, on through 89 X. Based on that, I'm guessing this clock was made around 1920. It is an 8-day movement designed to strike with a Bim Bom chime each 1/4 hour and a single tone chime(Bom Bom Bom etc. indicates the hour. What is does is continue going Bom until the movements moves past the chiming period. It worked fine for years so hopefully this is a simple fix. There is a sep a rate wind for the chime so that could be left unwound. The mahogany wood case has been refinished with a satin finish of some kind that shows the ... moremahogany grain nicely. Here we have for auction an Original 1938 RAF mantel clock made by Stockall Marple& Co. Which are rarer and of equal quality to the more well known FW Elliott. These clocks are most commonly referred to as an RAF Officer's Mess mantel or bracket clocks. The movement is superb being chain driven fusee. The oak case has a nice pediment top and is raised on block feet. The dial has a convex glass with a brass bezel and is opened by pressing a button to the side. When the door is opened to the bottom edge of the opening is stamped a crown with letters below(please view final photograph) The chain-driven movement has the backplate stamped'9593 SM& Co 1938 AM' There is a travelling clamp which allows the pendulum to be secured in place during transportation. The clock is complete with it's original pendulum and key. The clock is happily ticking away. The approximate MAXIMUM dimensions are: 9.25 inches wide(across feet) 5.75 inches deep(across feet) 14 inches high. The case is in nice condition as can be seen from the photographs just minor marks commensurate with age. There are a few minor marks to the left side of the dial where the clock dial has been opened over the years please view photographs. The back door is complete with it's lock but there is no key but there is a clip to keep it shut. Here's a beautiful antique Seth Thomas Adamantine mantel clock with two columns and rare Mercury/Hermes side adornments. Estimated clock age is early 1900's. The clock measures approx. 10" tall.12.5" wide, and 5.5" in depth. The wood case appears to be made of a light walnut/pecan. The finish has been cleaned and polished, the finish is very good with only very tiny chips to a couple of areas(these imperfections are not easily seen) The celluloid columns are in good condition although one has a small crack that may be seen upon close inspection. The column capitols have the old brass top and bottom pieces as well as the Mercury/Hermes side adornments that have developed a nice patina-The original dial has some fading/staiins but conveys that well-weathered look that many find desirable. The bottom of the clock has a ... morewood piece with a crack-this does not affect the stability of clock and can only be seen by looking under the clock. Sessions, Antique Black Mantel clock in excellent, running condition. It is quite old and made circa 1900. It is becoming very hard to find these clocks in great condition. But here it is! It has a signed Sessions Clock Co. 8-day time and strike movement” which chimes on the half-hour on a bell and counts the hours on the hour on a cathedral gong with a mellow sound. I know very little about it, I purchased it at a high end auction. Will tell you what I can and happy to answer any questions. To Start: 8 Day Movement. Beveled Glass on all four sides, Seven Finials On The Top, Four Footed(very level a few photos are from angle that look unleveled) I think its enameled but I am not an expert on that at all. Very Detailed and stunning, the face is porcelain I think and has Roman Numerals for Hour and regular numbers for minutes on the outside rim. Left key for chime, right for movement. Chimes on the Hour and Half Hour. Door opens in the front and the back, there is a tiny chip on the inside back glass at base see photo 12. Very elaborate side panels of a lovely lady ... morefacing toward the clock. Detailed enamel? design accented by Brass. Pendulum also decorated with a ship see photo. Wood clock; 8 columns(4 each side) the column closest to the dial/face on the left side is loose. This nice old Ingraham clock measures approximately 17-1/4" left to right including feet; 6-1/2" front to back including feet; 10-1/2" tall. Very pretty, ornate handles and front feet- maybe brass? Only minor issues- small chip/scratch on right front corner; small chip on back cover which is not visible when back is on the clock; stains on dial/face; other minor scuffs and scratches. The two metal legs are loose- there are nails underneath which probably need to be hammered in. The clock sits level, no wobbling. We have had it running- it works well- chimes on the hour plus one chime on the half-hour. Vintage Seth Thomas- Wood Electric Mantel Clock- Model 3695. It is an old handsome clock. The clock is in working condition. The clock keeps time. The chimes appear to be inconsistent. Sometimes they work and sometimes they do not work. It seems to chime on the half hour but not the hour. I am not a clock person so I do not know the problem. Cosmetically. It is in good condition. There are a few very minor nicks to the wood and the brass parts show some pitting. It is about 14" across x 4 7/8" wide(I am measuring the bottom) x 8 1/2" tall.
