We believe it is from the 1880's-1920's. Look and the wonderful front with center medallion. It has an arched opening with an insert. There is a domed cutout for a heater vent(cast iron grate) and a fancy cast iron front. The top mantle shelf is serpentine. Use this piece on a wall for accent. Over an existing fireplace, or in your bathroom as a surround for a pedestal sink(my wife does that with one at home) The design possibilities are endless. The front face measures 44 1/2" tall. 44 7/8" wide, and 5 3/8" deep. The shelf is 1 1/4" thick, 49 1/4" wide and 10 7/8" deep. The opening is 33 3/8" high and 24" wide. It is sturdy and in good condition. It has minor wear and shows the adhesive marks and residue on the pieces. The top splash was broken many years ago and then repaired. This is a set of two small floating wall shelves we used in our baby's room; however. We've moved into a new home and don't have a good spot to put these up anymore. Made by Woodform in Maquoketa, IA, these decorative shelves are contemporary in style and have a dark wood finish(I'd describe it as espresso or dark chocolate in color) They have a small raised edge on the front of the shelf to prevent items from slipping off(the edge also gives it a nice look) Each is mounted to the wall using two screws/drywall anchors(not included) slipped into the holes on the back of each shelf. There are a few light to medium surface scratches and there is a good amount of wear in what is left of the painted floral design and trim. Also. One one of the girandoles, when looking inside near the top rim you can see a fold in the glass. It looks like a crack but it does not go through to the other side, cannot see when a light is shown through it, and both girandoles have a nice ring to them. The same girandole with the fold in the glass is missing 2 of its prisms. One of the prisms that is attached is missing its circular ... moretop and pointed bottom is broken(see photo below) Other prisms may have scratches. A real nice old mantel clock but does have a small ding on the outside brass frame& on face between 10& 11 and some stains on face along with minor scratches& flakes in the wood& you have to push firm to close the beveled glass front. GWR Brass Mantel/travelling Clock, C.1900, Cased
This is a rare Great Western Railways brass cased travelling clock. I estimate the date to be C.1900 or possibly earlier. The clock measures 10cm high plus the ring handle. The case has a sizeable dent at 11 o'clock and this has also damaged the enamel dial. The dial is detailed G.W.R. And KAY& Co Paris. The case. The backplate and the movement are all stamped 4894. There are dents to the case and alterations and I would be surprised if the clock keeps good time although it does tick when wound. The clock comes with its original leather bound travel case which also has signs of wear and useage. I am not an expert in clocks but I have tried to give a full and honest description. Ansonia Wood Mantel Clock"Aden" This lovely antique deserves to live outside the attic and receive some love. Over the three days I've had it displayed. It has been ticking and chiming on the hour and half hour. However. I have not opened the back and I would think it needs a good cleaning and repair or tune-up. I am offering it with no guarantee. The wood is a rich dark hue. The Aden model is pictured on p.474 of Tran Duy Ly's standard work. Ansonia Clocks& Watches. This clock has alterations. The worst- and I've pictured it- is that someone replaced a missing piece of the foot of one side with an unfinished wood piece. It fits and it works. But to recover the clock's beauty, one would want to replace the wood piece or smooth and stain it. What's more. A barometer was installed on one side of the clock's ... morefront and a metal holder that contains a vial of gluey liquid on the other. I do not know what the liquid is. But the vial can easily be slipped out of its mooring and I will remove it before shipping. The clock face appears original but does not have the Ansonia mark. The pendulum is not original(silver color with a characteristic swirl and design) Rather. It is gold-color metal, heavy and adjustable. Despite its faults. This is a lovely clock. This is a clock made by Dilau a German maker I believe. and it was owned. I am told by the owner's son that this had been in the family from the 1930's. It has a lovely art deco look about it the base measures 52 cm across and the clock part is 18 cm high. the wood is highly glossed and has one scratch that it noticible I have pictured it for you. The clock requires attention, it needs a spin of the small wheel on the back and then it runs for a minute or so and then stops. Can't be much i don't think otherwise it wouldn't run at all.It has the Dilau name across the front. and the chimes ding dong on the half hour and the hour, it double chimes so at one o clock it will go ding dong. This is a rare Seikosha mantel clock with chiming hour and 8 day key wind in a beautiful Art Deco Cherub ornate wood case. There are two screws on the front panel of the clock to remove in order to reach the brass works inside. Which I didn't undo in case I couldn't get it back together. The clock case measures 16 inches(40.64 cm) tall on a 12 inches(30.48 cm) wide by 5.75 inches(14.6 cm) deep base. Here's what I stated about this beautiful clock's condition: Antique good condition. Original key winds left winder but right winder does not wind. Can make the chime work inside the mechanism and sometimes by turning to the hour. Clock does not run and when you swing the pendulum it only lasts until the swing momentum stops. So the pendulum can't ... morerun the clock on its own. Wood Case is worn down and wood has grime, but can be cleaned up better and polished to bring out even more beautiful grain. Glass door in good condition with no damage to glass and operates fine. Looks like there is a slot where a finial crown would go in the top center of the case, but there is no finial with the clock. Clock needs servicing and cleaning in order to run properly. Made in 1942 this Revere clock has the famous Telechron M-1 powerful rotor/motor. Which still runs quiet and chimes nicely. The body as you can clearly see, is beautiful! The dial/bezel and glass are very unique! And the"Power cord" is safe to use. There are no flaws that I can see. Clock is a long 19 inches and 10 inch high. The Revere Company was a well known company in the clock business making only key crack and cable or chain drive movement clocks. They wanted a clock that would sound and look like theirs, without doing something(crank or wind cables/chains) to it, every 7 days. Up for bid is a very nice Sligh Westminster chime Tambour mantel clock. The case is finished in oak and is in good condition. The glass door and bezel have very good hinge and clasp mechanisms.
