These pieces are distinguised by the swirl/ saw blade marks on the wood. On a number of pieces we will cut the top off. Sand, stain and varnish them. This gives a nice flat uniform finished piece. Only the cut areas are stained to match the original front and bottom. The color on the hand hewn section is from time and weathering. We try to leave as much original as we can while keeping it's integrity sound. Each piece is cleaned. Sanded, and kiln dried(if req'd) to 160 °-170° at the core temperture for 12 hours. French/Swiss 8 day movement which comes with a double-ended brass winder and hand adjuster. Beautifully crafted Folk Art Clock from the estate of Thomas Garland renowned English painter that resided in Pen Argyl. PA. Excellent scroll work of dear, geese, angels, leaves, just about everything you want in a piece of artwork of this type. This piece does have some damage and repair work and is missing and some of the scroll work(mostly under the deer on the right side) as shown in the picture. Offered here is an extraordinary19th-century continental ceramic mantel urn. Guaranteed to be original, signed and depicting a balletic dancer with castanets and bell-shaped flowers- a scene inspired simultaneously by Fanny Elssler(the black hair and castanets, the balletic pose, the decollete dress, the small waist with criss-crossing, the puffed sleeves just above the elbows, and the ballet slippers) and J. J. Grandville(the artist who produced LES FLEURS ANIMEES, depicting flowers as ballerinas, including one with red cactus flowers) The urn or vase measures a very tall 14.25 inches(Height) x 5 inches(Bottom) 6 inches(Top Rim) The condition is very good. With some rubbing of the gold finish along the bottom and the top rim(as seen in the accompanying scans) There is also a hairline two-inch crack that can be seen on the inside rim of the ... moretop. Measurements 11" High x 8 1/4" Wide x 5 1/2" Deep. It's been tested it keeps accurate time with in 2 minutes in a 24 hour period. The case is in real good condition with no cracks or dings. The dial is in real good condition as is the glass over the dial in real good condition. The bezel over the dial is also in real good condition and it snaps shut like it should. It chimes once on the half hour and then counts the number of the hour on the hour. I will send the set up instructions with the clock.

This is a SUPERIOR ALL ORIGINAL EXAMPLE of a very very old very large WOOD WORKS shelf mantel clock in NEAR ALL ORIGINAL CONDITION made circa 1820. This is American History at its finest! The maker is ELISHA HOTCHKISS a rare desirable maker. The paper label inside has lots of instructions ala 1820! Has ITS ORIGINAL 30-hour weight driven wood works(ALL THE GEARS AND PLATES ARE MADE OF WOOD! movement that chimes the hours on the hour on a large cast bell. The movement was just cleaned and new cords were added. Believe it or not. All of the gears, posts pinions and retaining plates are made of wood! As well 99% of the movement) The count wheel was hand made by a master clockmaker. Also. Believe it or not, these wood-works clocks from the early 1800s last longer and keep better time than lots of the brass clocks that followed! This clock was ... moremade when a clock was a very important member of the family. And was cherished. Not like today when clocks are so plentiful) Back then a family who had a clock was fortunate indeed. It was usually their most valuable possession. This clock runs great, just like new, strikes the hours boldly on the original cast iron bell and keeps very accurate time. Clocks with weights keep better time than clocks with springs as the springs lose power somewhat as they wind down, but a weight is consistent. This clock has the original dial(in SUPERIOR condition– one of the best we’ve ever seen! the original movement. The top and bottom wavy glass is the originals. Listing a Sessions antique 8 day time and strike mantel clock movement. This movement was used in black mantel clocks in the early 1900s. Movement has been cleaned. Oiled, re-bushed where needed and tested. All pivots have been polished and both mainsprings have been replaced with correct size replacements. Movement strikes the hour on the hour and strikes once on the half. All components of the movement have been inspected and all repairs have been made. Movement was tested on a level test stand for a period of 12 days. Pendulum drop from center shaft to bottom of non adjustable pendulum is 4 1/2 inches using a 1 7/8 inch long 2.5 oz. approx) pendulum. Movement may require minor adjustment to adapt to your case. They need to be adjusted to keep proper time once being set up, this adjustment is most of the time easy to do, but if you are not experienced with antique clocks, I suggest contacting me prior to purchasing, or contacting a local clock professional for assistance. Antique clocks also commonly lose or gain a couple minuets every couple days, this is simply the nature of an antique clock, most however will keep near perfect time once properly adjusted. Up for sale today is a cool antique advertising pottery tile for Chas. A. Harvey Mantel Tiles. Omaha, Nebraska, made by"A-E" American Encaustic Tile Company. This tile has a great image of a woman reading by the fireplace embossed on the front with the Harvey logo. The tile measures approx. 4 1/4" square, and about 1/2" thick. It is embossed on the back with the A-E logo. The tile was used, probably in a fireplace. It shows crazing to the glaze, as well as other wear. I think my pictures show the wear and condition well.
