Today. I have for auction, a vintage lightning rod base and milk glass ball. I am not sure if the rod is original, because it is a copper tube, which is not solid. The base is original, and the milk glass ball is original, which has a painted rose design on the front and back. The ball is missing its end caps, and it has little chips or nicks around the edges. Rod with point is approx. 38 1/2 inches tall. Bottom of Rod is embossed with two patent dates.October 6. 1914 and December 8, 1914. Point is embossed O.L.R. company. Insulators are both embossed"Ohio Lightning Rod Company West Milton O. Amber ball is a good colored ball. Collars do have chips. One collar has significant damage, but does not go into the ball and would be covered by a cap. Please see photos. 11 Point Crown Point has nice even patina. One of the bottom points has the tip slighlty chipped off as seen in photos. Still very even patina, has been that way for years. Very nice original set-up.

There is no reserve on this great looking antique lightning rod ball. We are pleased to offer this antique lightning rod ball in the“doorknob” shape. This shape is one of the harder ones to find. It is in the milk glass blue color with swirls similar to slag glass. And is in excellent condition. There is some normal roughness on each end of the ball, but it can easily be covered with caps. Light Purple glass 4 1/2" diameter lightning rod ball - FRESH FROM THE FARM
LIGHT PURPLE GLASS 4 1/2" DIAMETER LIGHTNING ROD BALL Fresh from the farm. I found several lightning rod balls this last weekend. This one is a light purple colored glass. It is 4 1/2 inches in diameter and a total of 5 inches tall. The inside diameter of the rod hole is 1 3/16 of an inch. Unfortunately. Some fine young man decided to use this one for target practice for his BB gun. Otherwise it is in good shape for it's age with very minor chips on the ends where the insulators are placed. That seems to be pretty normal for these balls. Because of the condition of this one, the bidding starts at only $9.99. It will look very good in a collection. Great antique lightning rod weathervane with a silver mercury ball. This piece is in overall good antique condition. With a nice patina to it. Some signs of wear from usage and age, so please look closely at the pictures. The total height of the whole piece is 59" The finial measures 9 5/8" in total length, the exposed portion is 8 1/4" With the finial off, the rod itself is about 51" The twisted steel stand measures 39 3/4" high. The silver mercury ball measures 5 1/4" through the center hole, the inside of the opening is 1" and the outside of the brass cap is 1 3/8" The ball is approximately 5" wide. The copper rod is 49" long. I will detach this from the base and the globe will be shipped separately to keep everything safe. So it will be disassembled when you receive it. It is an original vintage company advertising salesman book brochure.that reads Government Security Lightning protection for war production and storage special equipment for the protection of arsenals magazines. Loading plants, ammunition dumps, aviation buildings, etc. Designed to meet U.S. Government requirements. It is in classic red white and blue with a great big V for victory in the center. Antique Tall 60" Copper Lightning Rod with Milk White Electra Ball Globe
This is an old and very tall lightning rod with a very attractive milk white color globe with"Electra" printed on it in raised letters. The tall pointed rod has a point at the top and is non-magnetic. I believe it is copper. The frame work is magnetic. The frame extends out at the bottom with 3 feet measuring about 18" apart. The white globe is a bit unique having the word"Electra" printed on it. Each end of the globe has some rough edges or chips which is not unusual for these globes. It looks very good on the rod. Vtg DIDDLE BLITZEN lightning rod ball white to light amethyst from sun, 8 panels
This lightning rod ball is made from milk glass with a little manganese added for strength. When exposed to the sun the manganese gives the glass a slight amethyst shade. This ball is JUST BEGINNING to turn from white to amethyst. DIDDLE- BLITZEN is embossed around the top half. Eight panels on the top and bottom halves and a raised grid around the middle. In my opinion the"ball" is in excellent condition. Only a few chips on each end which would have been protected by a metal collar. Antique Lightning Rod Ball D & S Patent Pending Blue Milk Glass 10 Sided Decagon
Measures about 5 inches tall and is about 3 1/2 inches in diameter at widest point and 1 1/4 inches in diameter at the openings. It appears that it is a blue colored milk glass type glass. It is embossed with a diamond with"D&S" inside of it. Also embossed with Patent Pending. You can see the openings are a bit rough. But it looks like a lot of that is from the manufacturing. The one opening is stained and has more chips in it. My guess is there was a metal cap/sleeve type thing there and it rusted. This is a very cool blue colored piece to ass to your collection! Beautiful iron lightning rod/weathervane with cobalt blue glass ball and hollow pig without bullet holes. I have never seen one of these rods with a pig in better condition. Rod stands 36" tall with a 22 1/2" arrow. Pig measures 8 1/2" long X 4 5/8" high. Has a small hole in the top which shows in the picture. Ball is 4 1/2" across with a crack on one side. I have tried to show this crack in the picture. Will not deter from displaying this beautiful piece as it's only on one side. This is truly a beautiful lightning rod/weathervane. Vintage Amythest Lightning Rod Ball 4 1/2 inches Nice Condition
Hi. Auction is for a 4 1/2 inch amythest colored lightning rod ball. I have three of these and this is the nicest-best color and condition. They are from a hundred plus year old farm. Condition is very good. Ends have very slight chipping as the pictures show. There are 3 or 4 noticible bubbles in the glass-adds character I guess. Otherwise, no other flaws. There are not any chips or cracks& there is some brown staining on the bottom. There are some manufacuring defects that appear to be chips. But are not. This item would look great in any garden or entry way. ATTENTION ALL OVERSEAS BUYERS. We had another $100. Item disappear and never get delivered. VINTAGE W.C. SHINN MFG CO WHITE MILK GLASS LIGHTNING ROD BALL! BEAUTIFUL!
Hello. This auction contains one beautiful piece! This is a 100% authentic vintage W.C. Shinn MFG CO white milk glass lightning rod ball! Please see pictures, this is a super nice vintage piece! As you can see in the pictures it has W.C name across the middle of the ball. The lettering sticks out at you, very nice clean lettering! Pictures of every view! The top is perfect no breaks in the end. The grove for the cap is perfect! The bottom spout end is also very nice! no breaks, cracks and has perfect groves for the cap! The only spot on this piece is the very bottom spout piece there is a micro area of cleanable rust. Should be able to see in pictures! Not a big deal at all on this item! The end caps would cove that area anyhow. The whole ball is solid with no cracks or any problems! Coloring of the the white milk glass is very nice and just ... moreis as how it shouls be! Wonderful add on to that weather vane project! Bid with confidence and please see pictures! The only minor problem is the end caps are missing but they are so easy and inexspensive to replace and you would have a even more wonderful piece for your project or whatever you use it for once you added those! Like I said both ends of this item are ready for en caps! Won't see them this clean and solid often! The inside could use a cleaning but no big deal. The measurements are as follows even though most of you are familiar with these items butn here are the demensions; 5 inches apart from longest point. Diameter of the inner circle is 4 inches. Top open is aprrox 2 1/4 inch in diamter and the bottom opening is the same. Item will be safely and quickly shipped to you after payment!
