Antique rim lock 10" x 6 3/8" steel with knob night latch genuine antique rare
1 huge 10" Steel rim lock 10" wide x 6 3/8" high(approx) 4 3/8" from edge of lock to keyhole(approx) works in a similar way to a modern night latch it can be opened or deadlocked from outside or inside with a key and when not deadlocked it can be opened inside with the knob which slides sideways it don't turn as you may expect there is also a locking snib on the side of lock.It is not high security it could be used on a outside front or back door but I would think you would need to have a high security lock fitted as well for insurance reasons this auction is for the lock and one key the lock is genuine antique the key is modern but fits! there is no keep but that is easy to find it all works and the key will open it As you can see I have not cleaned it there is a little paint on the bottom edge of lock and the knob ... moreis a little green in places but it can all be removed. it could be polished to a very high burnish or I could have painted it and polished the brass knob or I could have polished the lock with black grate polish but some prefer to do this themselves or leave alone and enjoy the patina of age so I thought I would leave that to whoever wins it

Ideal for that special pair of double doors. I would not be surprised to see a set of bronze vintage handles such as these opening the doors of a Private Bank. Each handle measures 33cms x 6cms and weigh just a tad over 1 kilo each. So 2 Kilos of Bronze offered. They naturally show signs of use commensurate with their age which could be as early as Victorian. The thumb catches operate perfectly. The 6 fastening holes are countersunk. Looking at the unseen once fitted back of these handles one may note the rough casting evidence and the way the lever catch guide has been hand riveted to the stepped door plate. Beautiful early cast iron rim lock for your consideration made by the Branford Lock Works of Conn. Excellent usable quality large rim lock with catch. Driverod gear spring feels strong and works latch smoothly. There is no deadbolt key for the deadbolt slide however. Could be used without it with manual locking slide lever that engages and disengages a secondary locking latch smoothly. Large rim lock box measuring 5 X 3 1/2 inches. Catch marked 2868? The latch is 2-1/2 inches long, 7/8 x 7/8 inch at the thick end and 1/4 of an inch at the long tapered end. The ½ inch diameter dowel is mortised into the latch and cut nailed. 7 LOT EARLY ANTIQUE HAND FORGED THUMB LATCH DOOR HANDLE HINGE HARDWARE PULL SETS
Offered are 7 thumb latch door handles. I have had these for about 40 years thinking I would use them. I know this is a man's thing& I don't know a whole lot about them other than I've always liked them. I was going to list them separately but I couldn't remember what latch went to what handle. One latch is not here. There is light surface rust but I know they will clean up nicely. 3 of the handles are the same. I'm not positive but I think their Norfolk style. Wrought iron, American latch circa 1800-1820. 8 3/4" high, 1 1/2" wide. The one with the pewter handle is Norfolk style, 7 3/4" high, 1 1/4" wide, early 19th century, a piece of the pewter is gone, it looks like it happened long ago. One is Norfolk style from 2nd quarter of 19th century with unusual feathered decorative feature in center ... moreof handle, 7 1/4" high, 1 3/4" wide. I have seen this one sell for $110.00. The one with the knob in the middle is 6 1/2" long. 1 1/2" wide. The one with the separate thumb latch is 6 1/2" long. I may be completely wrong on my facts because they look so primitive to me. I believe this is a Barrows Lock Company lock and BL Co is marked on one side of the mortise box and the model number is hand written in yellow on the other side of the mortise box. This latch is marked 451 with this model having no dead bolt hub and model 551 also for sale has the dead bolt hub option. This latch is set up for a right hand door and is reversible. Latch face measures 1" x 7 1/8" Mortise box measures 3 5/8" deep. 5" tall and 5/8" thick. Uses a 1/4" split spindle. 2 similar Suffolk narrow cusp thumb latch door handles
2 very similar antique Suffolk thumb latches with parts. The latches are 18th/early 19th century. They are 10" and 10 1/2" long. Each has narrow upper and lower cusps. This makes them desirable for doors with narrow stiles. They may be used as interior or exterior latches. The thumb pieces are original and are 2 1/4" and 3" long. The latch bars are period and are 7" long. The keepers and staples are wrought reproductions. Note that the keepers are the nice legged type as opposed to a simple drive in one. Antique wrought twisted hook door latch rare size
Antique rare size wrought iron twisted door hook with staples. The hook is nicely twisted and is most likely 19th century. It is 4" long-a rare size The patina is somewhat shiny because I had to wire buff it to get off rust/paint. The staples are not old. Daguerreotype of Lady in Case With Latch & Red Velvet Interior
I bought this daguerreotype at an antique store or show probably at least 10 years ago. It is a nice black and white image of a lady with a fancy dress. But if you look close, her earrings and brooch appear gold, as if there was gilded gold added to the photo. It has a nice gold frame and glass cover. The inside cover has a nice red velvet insert which is faded but in otherwise just about perfect condition. The outside of the frame is in excellent condition, no wear or damage to front or back or around the edges, as seen in the photos. And the latch is completely intact and works. Size is about 2" wide x 3" long. I'm not a professional buyer or dealer. Just someone who bought this and no longer has a need for it. COLLECTABLE DOVETAILED WOODEN BOX W/ UNUSUAL LATCH / LOCK
Up for auction is this nice dark brown wooden box that is dovetailed on all corners with unusual style lock/ latch. This 12 7/16" x 7 7/16" x 3" high(measured on the bottom) wood box has 6 compartments on the inside and is flaired out on outside of the base. It has some type of a black lining on the inside as well as the bottom. Unsure of it's age. As it was found in an Estate Auction.
