Simple wrought iron fence This wrought iron is from the 1800's. It is all hand wrought and riveted as they used to before arc welding. The iron is made of square stock stock. It has a nice even rust patina but is not rotted. The rivets on the lower bar make for an interesting detail. You just don't see this anymore! The fence is 4 ft. wide and comes in 78 in. L sections. Up for your consideration is a fancy 19th century Rare Hitching Post. This post has the Victorian Ladies Heads going around. All molded in Cast Iron detail. There is one side bare and we are not sure if it had a head there or was just the side facing into the property. The paint is badly worn, but we have left it all original for the new owner to deside about the restoration.There are some losses to the sides, but they are not noticeable. This is a full size post standing about 39" tall by 8" square. We have not found a foundry mark, but there may be one on it underneath. I am not an expert on these type of things but they appear to be very old. The detail is very good and not like the copies you see. Each figure has two screws on back side. One on head& one on base. I showed this pair to a friend who is more into this type of art and was told by the thick flat screw and detail there was for sure age to them. Again, I am not sure of exact age. This listing is for an authentic vintage antique collector's sample of wire fencing. This listing is for a vertical metal fence stay. This stay features a patent by Samuel and Alfred Ide. Dated January 15, 1895. This stay is called"Ide's Punched Iron Strip" by collectors. This stay is made of 1/2" wide stiff strap iron. It is center slit at intervals, and metal on each side pressed into an arch in opposing directions to make a round hole for the line wires. Top is a pair of small round holes one above the other. The strip is firmly clasped to the top line wire with a wire pin clinched to the strip. Stay sample is 18-1/2" in length. It shows age and use wear, with moderate pitting. 1870s ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL Army Cast Iron Oak Leaf Vine Architectural Fence Part Up for sale is an Antique mid 1800s ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL Army Corp of Engineers Cast Iron Architectural Fence or Railing Part. This is for a unique piece of architectural history. This was purchased at the estate sale of a man who was a member of the Army Corp of Engineers. His wife told me that many years ago when he was a young man working at the Arsenal. A number of ornate cast iron railings were recycled on the island and that when her husband was working on the recycling project he took one piece of the ornamental ironwork home. Apparently. Much of the large National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal island was fenced with an intricate oak leaf, vine and tree-trunk motif ironwork. This ornate ironwork was made in the decade following the civil war when the ... morenational cemetery and the buildings on the island were constructed. Later, during WWI and especially WWII most of it the iron was recycled but quite a bit still remains. Much of the old ordnance was melted down to provide the internal structural ironwork for the buildings and shops. This is for a piece of that recycled ironwork from the fence. You can see where this piece was cut at the bottom and at the sides where it would have continued with the trunk pattern in the fencing. Included are 2 photos from the cemetery gates(photos 3 and 4) so you can see that this piece is a definite match to that fence. Measurements: It measures just under 21" long and just over 7" wide and it weighs about 9 lbs. Condition: It is in excellent condition. The fence had been sandblasted during the recycling process and it was stored in a dry basement for many decades. I have many other great items up for sale. Including other military collectibles. Vintage Cast Iron Jockey Fence Post Hitching Post
This wonderful jockey hitching post is 13" tall and 3 1/2" wide at the bottom. He weighs 13 lb. 11.8 oz. There is a round hole on the bottom that measures 1 7/8" inside diameter and 1 1/16" deep. With a single screw hole on the back. The paint is clearly original but as you can see from the photos there are lots of spots of rust. I got him at an antique shop a long time ago and he has been sitting in a box for many years. There are no markings that I can find. He has a green shirt and cap, white pants with red undertones, black boots, belt, collar, and hair. The area between his legs is faded blue in the front and black in the back, and the stand he is on is black/blue with a little green. His left cheekbone isn't smooth like the right one but I'm pretty sure that was original to the piece and not damage. He is ... moreholding a black rod of some kind and that is the only place I see any kind of a seam except I suspect the arms were soldered onto the body after it was cast but before being painted. This is all just my observation to give you a better idea of what he looks like and to help you analyze the photos better.

It is not the prefab stuff you would find in the ranch houses of the 1970's. Its the custom made hand welded stuff that cost a lot back then. It would make the best garden path divide that would also be a climbing structure. It might serve as simple backdrop to a long section of fence or wall that would support some great vine. This is in the shape of what looks to be an acorn. At first glance I thought it was a pineapple shape, but the bottom looks as if it is the cap on an acorn. It stands approximately 8" tall and the opening on the bottom is approximately 2- 3/8" by 3- 1/8" This is a heavy old piece and most likely should be shipped via USPS Priority Mail in a flat rate box. This is a stunning antique hand wrought iron Gothic fireplace fender. It is very large and made from solid iron. Completely made by hand and extremely heavy. It has a wonderful patina from age. It is from early 1900's and is beautifully footed with large circular feet. the fencing is swirled iron with ball top finials. the corner bars are the largest and tallest parts which have ribbed balls and large finials. there are two center pieces which have two thick iron circular pieces. May have had three at one point but not sure. it measures 43 1/4 inches long by 12 3/4 inches back to front 9 1/4 inches tall. there is a crack in one of the top bars.
