This is an original Victorian piece that dates from the 1870’s to the 1890’s. The surround and grill are made of brass or bronze plated cast iron. The cover is made of tin. This surround has a total of 5 pieces: The top. Two sides, the bottom grill, and the cover. This is an awesome piece. It’s very ornate and detailed. It’s full of art nouveau design elements and has lots of swirled filigree and ornate texturing. It has a woman on the top. Cherubs on the sides, and even has little cherubs holding the tops of the columns. It’s in excellent condition with great patina. It has general wear and some very light rust in a few places. Rare Vtg 1950's Architectural Iron Beveled Fireplace Surround Mid Century Modern
This is a very hard piece to find. It is a genuine vintage 1950's hand welded iron fireplace surround insert with beveled/slant sides. The insert flange measures 31.75" wide and 27.25" high and is approx 10" deep. The outside dimensions are approx 42" wide and 32" tall. I would say the pitch is roughly 45 degrees. It is in excellent condition and was never installed and is unpainted. There is a mid century designer house on line at Pebble Beach that has a similar fireplace surround if you want to see what it looks like installed. I can also ship this Greyhound for about $60 if that works better for you. Thank you!

The firebox opening measures 41-1/2 high x 38-3/4” wide. With square columns on an angle, plus accent details of scrolling, with nuts and leaves, on left and right side of each angle, both above and below the mantle, as well as left and right sides of the surround. One small piece of scrolling is missing, on the lower right side, the side away from the center, as seen in photo. In the center, below the mantle, a carved lions head, with a slightly opened mouth. Out of an old 1890s Southern Victorian home about to be demolished this wonderful old cast iron surround was rescued. This surround has been stripped of many layers of stubborn and brittle paint. Measuring 27 1/2" Tall x 25" Wide or across the front. The inside dimension is 24 1/2" Tall x 18 1/2" Wide. After cleaning it turned put great. There is a small break at the bottom of the tight inside bottom hard to see but does not affect the surround in any way. Please take a look.
