The wood looks like it is oak- with the mantle being a darker shade of finish. This appears to be a beautiful and ornate oak mantle fireplace surround and cover! The item was said to be removed originally from an 1800s era home in Atlantic City NJ- then moved to an old home in Barclay Street in Burlington NJ- and then finally to its current location. The piece is about 5' or 60" wide- stands about 82" tall to its highest point( Currently hidden by ceiling tile) and the mantle shelf ... moreis about 11 7/8" deep. This is a very hard piece to find. It is a genuine vintage 1950's hand welded iron fireplace surround insert with beveled/slant sides. The insert flange measures 31.75" wide and 27.25" high and is approx 10" deep. The outside dimensions are approx 42" wide and 32" tall. I would say the pitch is roughly 45 degrees. It is in excellent condition and was never installed and is unpainted. Antique Cast Iron Fireplace Surround-Frame-Cover-Ornate Victorian w/Grates
The first thing I would like to point out about this surround is that it does not have a can of krylon sprayed on it to cover it's imperfections. I've restored enough antique cars to know. It has been sandblasted and coated with a good laquer based paint. When you have done this, you know it when you see and feel it. I could almost say it's powder coated but I'm not positive. It's sometimes hard to tell the difference between those 2 finishes. If you buy it, you will agree, it's not been sprayed with a can of krylon to flake off in a short period of time, it's been restored the right way and sandblasting old cast iron or steel is the only way to do it properly so it will last. It's not highly decorative, quiet simply ornate designs like a fan in the 2 upper corners. The ears for mounting the piece are still ... moreon it, all 4 of them. The only flaw I see is in the grate, you can see that it had definitely been used, the bottom part of the grates has been hot enough to break off some of those grates. If your going to use it, that can be repaired. This one was probably restored just to be used for looks and it looks great. The outside frame measures 27 1/4" tall and 23" wide. The opening is 24" at the center height and 16" wide. Very standard measurements for a surround, nothing hard to match for a standard fireplace opening. This surround is ready to be mounted. Hamilton Majolica Encaustic Tile Fireplace Surround
Up for auction is this beautiful set of 19 Hamilton encaustic tiles. These tiles were recently salvaged from a fantastic 1892 mansion in St Louis. MO that has fallen on hard times. The tiles were manufactured and signed by the Hamilton Tile Company in Hamilton, Ohio which was in business from 1883-1901. The color is a rich,chocolate brown with a lighter color on the raised areas which depict song birds and tree branches. 4 of the 19 tiles are undecorated. The condition of these tiles is very good with 2 of the tiles having surface chips and 2 tiles having one back edge which has been chipped off(shown in photos) They all retain a glossy finish with some crazing which is common with type of tile. A & E Tile Company Architectural Salvage Mantle Fireplace Surround Antique
Up for auction is this collection of vintage fireplace mantle tiles. Clearly marked A& E Tile Company. There are 166 complete tiles with nice surfaces. They measure 1-1/2 inches by 3 inches. There are another 42 tiles that measure 1-1/2 inches square. And. There are another 15 larger tiles that have damaged-primarily corner that have dings. Most are clean on the bottom but some do have plaster stuck to them. I did not want to attempt to remove the old plaster and risk damaging the tiles. They have a nice tan-brown glaze with crazing. I did not attempt to clean the glazed side either. Hence why some appear dirty in the photos. Winning bidder pays $18.00 for shipping.

The scenes depict merriment. Drinking& dancing, heavily influenced with Old World German-like surroundings. The center section measures 29 ¾ x 28 ¾ inches. Each side section measures 29 ¾ inches x 14 ¾ inches. We have pictured this assembled and separately. The writing on the back is very hard to discern. Antique Victorian Art Nouveau cast iron fireplace surround with grate in very good solid condition. No cracks or welds and as you can see it is very detailed. Measures 30 1/2 inches tall and 31 1/4 inches wide. Inside is 24 1/2 inches wide, 23 1/2 inches tall without grate, if you measure from top of grate it is 16 1/2 inches. ( 3 Piece) Antique 1892 Cast Iron Nouveau Victorian Fireplace Surround & Cover
If you are looking for a very ornate& beautiful fireplace surround& summer cover. This may be it. 3 piece) with unusual design. With all the beautiful detail and raised designs all around the surface, there is what looks like old Man Winter at top of surround in center area and a Victorian or Goddess lady in the summer cover. As I have shown in a couple pictures, the center part of the cover will come unbolted and can take it out if needed or can easily bolt it back on to stay, it was made that way. No cracks or repairs with original color of different shades and some surface rust. Vintage Antique Oak Mantle Fireplace Surround Original Beveled Mirror Beautiful
You are viewing an old oak fireplace surround in decent restorable shape or leave as is. The mirror has great patina. The mantle has some imperfections(dings. Cracks and scratches) However, this can either be left alone or filled with some oak wood filler. There is a piece of molding that is missing by the(when facing the surround) right lower area. The measurements are as follows: 5 feet across at the top portion of the mantle. 53 inches across just below the top portion of the mantle. Just under 6 feet tall.
