20"H Antique Cast Brass Iron Fireplace Mantel Mantle Andirons Hearth Log Holders
Penn Antique Restoration. 20" H Pair Antique Brass Fireplace Andirons. These beautiful antique andirons were made around the first half of the previous century and were salvaged from Northeastern PA. They have cast iron shanks. And heavy, cast brass guards. Unlike many lesser quality andirons available on eBay; the guards on these andirons are not plates or halves-the design you see on the front is the design you see on the back. Each guard has curved legs and a bulbous. Tapered body with 2 cups and a solid finial on top. The shanks, which hold the logs, curve to the sides of the guards at which point they continue straight, away from the guards. There is a brass plate covering the curved portion of each shank. Notice the delicate brass finials adorning the shanks at the point where their curves end—what lovely accents! The beauty of ... morethe design is enhanced by a wonderful. Rich patina. One of the guards has a significant degree of verdigris(green patina) We rubbed them with oil to accentuate the beauty of the patina, and we scrubbed the shanks with steel wool and WD40 to remove most of the rust. If you would prefer the brass parts bright and shiny, we could clean and polish them for an additional $60-let us know after the auction. We've included a photo of a similar pair of andirons that we cleaned and sold a few years ago(see last photo) All parts are in great shape with only a few nicks and scratches here and there. Not assembled, The decorative mantel, the beveled mirror top and there is a shelf which will attach near top of the mirror section, making this 3 pieces. We believe this is Red Oak, but that's just a guess, we do not know. There is a missing molding damage on the right of mantle(photographed) the top could use refinishing or not! Overall it is in antique vintage condition, I have wiped and cleaned this with Murphys oil soap and it shined right up. About 61" across. About 74" tall, measurements not exact. Antique Victorian Birdseye Maple Fireplace Mantel c. 1890s This mantel was pulled from one of the first homes to be built on Coronado Island in California. It features birdeyes maple veneer over wood. Dentil trim, the original beveled mirror, columns and a scroll motif on the shelf supports. Beveled wood around the fireplace opening. Good condition for its age. It had been painted and stripped. Looks like water discoloration at the base of columns. See foto, plus other scuffs and remants of paint. The top shelf has pulled away a bit from the back, will try to get a detail foto. There is a crack or two in places, again, I'll get a foto up as soon as I can. In today's tech world the initials LCL could stand for"Lots of Christmas Love" 2942 Beautifully embroidered red on white embodies the red period of the late 19th first part of 20th centuries. Most of the embroidery is done in very fine outline stitch with cross stitching across the bottom. Beautiful 2-1/2 inch white crochet borders the long bottom. 17 inches by 86 inches long. There are 4 larger square tiles. 2 which are in the columns and 2 at the top corners under the mantel where the tile starts and the multi color tile was on the floor. The columns are a heavy cast iron made to look like it is wood with raised Cattails and beautiful design, awesome, the top mantel piece is an extremely heavy slate with a wood look finish on the top, the center piece is also a heavy cast iron, it ... morecomes with the two other black cast iron pieces and another piece of cast and roughly 250 to 300 ceramic tiles to make this mantal complete. The tiles have not been cleaned and some still have the mortar on the bottom of them. They do have a crazing to them. The darker color tiles are a beautiful green color, some of the pictures look as if they are brown but they are green. I believe they went around the two roman larger tiles. There are several tiles that were more fragile and broke while dissembling the mantel. They all will look great once they are cleaned, I do not have the knowledge for this and do not want to damage them in any way so I will leave the cleaning up to the buyer. This is a very RARE and awesome antique find along with the original tiles. The four larger figural tiles are extremely RARE also. This mantel. The oldest pieces are typically what is called"hand hewn" This is where they used ax to cut the bark off the timbers and square up the logs. The other type are"saw cut" These pieces were either out of a newer building(1920's) or the owner was rich and had access to a saw mill. These pieces are distinguised by the swirl/ saw blade marks on the wood. On a number of pieces we will cut the top off. Sand, stain and varnish them. This gives a nice flat uniform finished piece. Only the cut areas are stained to match the original front and bottom. The color on the hand hewn section is from time and weathering. We try to leave as much original as we can while keeping it's integrity sound. Each piece is cleaned. Sanded, and kiln dried(if req'd) to 160°-170º at the core temperture for 12 hours. Beautiful 7 ft Reclaimed Wood Hand Hewn Barn Beam from 1830's Fireplace Mantel
This auction is for a 7 foot hand hewn barn beam. This beam was pulled from a barn that was likely from the late 1830s. It measures 7" x 7" x 94" It is straight and square. There is a stain on one face. And some surface water damage on another face. It is a very solid beam, the damage is truly superficial, and adds character to the beam. Please see the photos, all sides are photographed. Overall, this is the most beautiful beam I have sold, with the exposed pegs, and the hand made notches. I had a barn beam expert look at wood before I dismantled the barn, and he thought the wood was Beech. This auction is for local pickup, but I would help load this on a freight truck if you set up the shipping. I have several other beams available of equal quality.

A beautiful Quartersawn Oak Fireplace Mantel with bevel edged Mirror. Circa 1880. We are pleased to present this fabulous antique Quartersawn Oak Fireplace Mantel for your consideration. In the Arts& Crafts/ Mission style. The Mantel features a large beveled edge mirror above the shelf, along with a variety of decorative touches including attractive striping of the wood grain on the two vertical columns. The Mantel has overall dimensions of 82 inches high. 60-1/2 inches wide, and 14 inches deep. We estimate the weight at 150 pounds- two people can move it with effort, although its large size makes it somewhat torquey to handle. The mirror measures 17-1/2 inches high by 29-3/8 inches wide. The shelf is 44 inches wide and 7-1/2 inches deep. At the front. The opening for the fireplace is 39 inches high by 41-1/2 inches wide. At the back ... moreedge, the opening is 50 inches wide. Picture 5 shows where the"front" and"back" measurements were taken. Measuring from the wall, to the back edge of the"front" point, the depth is 5-1/4 inches. Faults are few and minor with this antique fixture. The silvering on the mirror shows only minor deterioration. With a few tiny black spots, and some larger areas of crazing where it still reflects. There are a few small burn marks(see pictures 3 and 4) but they only affect the surface finish. There is one noticeable bump to the front edge of the shelf(seen in picture 10) but it is not very large. Other than these issues, the Mantel is in fine shape. We rate the overall condition as very good. This is a gorgeous Arts& Crafts/ Mission style Oak Mantel. It would make a wonderful decorative piece for your remodeling project! There is one piece which I believe to be a lesser seen part of the fireplace that has been broken in two but both pieces are here and they fit together quite well. Beautiful Antique Walnut Fireplace Mantel, Late 19th Century NFPM73
Marvelous antique walnut mantel. Found in a home in New Orleans and dating from the 1880's. The fireplace mantel is crowned with a projecting shelf accented with carved foliate and bead-and-reel detailing; three inset panels sit below the shelf. Grooved brackets flank the firebox and curve downwards to meet stylized Corinthian columns. The base of each mantel leg features chamfered edges, scalloped carving and grooved bands. This mantel is in very good antique condition, and has been stained a rich brown. The mantel measures approx. 60-1/8” wide, 48” tall, and 12-3/4” deep; the firebox opening is approx. 35-3/4” wide and 36-1/4” tall.
