used. i got this one and 4 others from a mid 1800s house i torn down in the early 1990s in Dundarrach. NC made from pine. simple coat of latex on it from years ago. seems easy to get off. the mantle is about 7'2" tall and 52" wide. it had plaster up next to the finished edge. kids broke the old mirror out while the house was empty so i have a replacement. double mantle shelves. made from heart pine. no labels on it. some old fire damage on the lower inner edge. the other 4 are in my families homes from wisconsin, michigan to washington state and alabama. i have it here in fayetteville, nc and right now have no idea how to ship it so for staters i will list as local pickup. maybe someone who wants it shipped can tell me how to do it. please ask questions and i will try my best to answer. what you see is what you get. no returns ... moreso measure carefully.

Gorgeous antique fireplace mantel. Made entirely of marble and dating from the 1870's. The mantel features a delicately curved top, below which is a marvelous cartouche with a stylized anthemion. On either side of the cartouche are carved bracket-shape details. The mantel's legs feature a rounded beveled edge and come down to a squared-off base. The firebox opening is an elegant arch. American Aesthetic Movement Fireplace Mantel with Anglo-Japanesque Panels RARE!
This is an American Aesthetic Movement Cast Iron Fireplace Mantel circa 1885 with embossed hand painted polychromed art panels. This is the"rarest of the rare" cast iron mantle and I challenge you to find another. I have spent an exhaustive amount of time trying to determine the history of this piece. A photo of another or any kind of information. I believe this to have been a special order piece. HISTORY: We purchased this piece in Covington Kentucky from a private homeowner who had done some'remodeling' and had removed this mantle from a formal living room to install"media bookcases" The home was a circa 1885 Italianate Townhouse. Architecturally very nice. But it is my belief that this mantle was acquired, and installed at some point in the homes history, as the mantle in the dining room was a more typical cast ... moreiron piece I would expect to find in a house like this. I have done an exhaustive search of"mansion history" in the Covington/Newport area and have not found any photographic references of a house this may have came from nor have I found any'catalog references" of this'style' mantel being offered by local companies of the era that sold mantles. It is more likely this is an east coast piece that was special ordered by someone. RESTORATION AND CONDITION: The mantle itself a heavy cast iron and is assembled in several section with the"decorative panel section" as a one piece. This is similar in design(except for these panels) to other Renaissance Revival mantles. The panel section appears to be by a"built up" method rather than the embossed method as the back panels on the back are smooth. We used a well known decorative artist to do a paint analysis and painting and the colors were chosen to recreate what we believe the original polychoming looked like. We were advised to not strip or sandblast the piece to take it to bare metal. So there are normal imperfections you would expect with age. No attempt was made to'over restore

ANTIQUE CARVED INLAY WOOD FRENCH GOTHIC DEVIL FACE FIREPLACE MANTEL SHELF CORBEL
We are pleased to offer this beautiful. Antique, salvaged piece. This was once a piece of a large cabinet, but could easily be used in a variety of areas. It would make a fantastic fireplace mantel, window valance, pediment, etc. This is solid walnut wood with inlay veneer and exceptional, carved accents. There are 2 large corbels with deeply curved and carved side profiles. Each has a carved North Wind or Devil face with fantastic detailing such as acanthus leaves that surround the faces. The end sections of the unit feature squared columns with incised diamond pattern. Very nice carved acanthus scrolls support each column and provide nice end accents. The inlay wood sections are raised panels. The lower section retains the finish base cap molding trim which is substantial in size. The back of the unit is in original condition with the original ... morenails/screws in place. The top has 3 peg holes where a shelf had once been attached. The unit is in very good, antique condition. There are a few, very minor scuffs which are not distracting and can be resolved. There is one split down the side that will need to be filled but it has not affected the structural integrity of the unit(see picture 5) This is simply exceptional and beautiful! The unit measures 51" long. 10.5" tall and extends 9.5" from the wall at the corbel section. The corbels are 10.5" tall. They are 2.25" wide at the top sections and 3.75" wide at the bottom with the trim included. They are 8.75" deep(front to back) at the face sections. Description This is a great piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of mahogany and is currently painted white. The shelf has bump outs at the ends. Below the bump outs are carved blocks. Below each are 2 round fluted columns with carved capitals. There is a curved breast board that is carved from end to end. There is a heavy raised molding around the firebox. It measures 78 inches wide by 53.5 tall and is 13.5 inches deep. The firebox opening is 41.5 wide by 35.5 tall. Overall it is in good condition. It's from France and it dates to around 1850-1880. The flat surfaces are walnut veneer with highly carved elements of solid walnut. It would work very well as a fireplace mantel-just trim out the bottom. There are many other possible uses as a shelf. Crown, pediment or window box valence. Vintage Shelf Mantel Clock with Light Up Fireplace by United under Westinghouse Electric Corp. Self Starting. I believe this is from the late 40's. Approx 8-1/2" tall and the bottom measures 10" X 3" The plug had to be replaced because it was just falling apart so that is up to standards now. Unfortunately the clock does not turn on but the fireplace does work. I put a new bulb in(takes a standard nightlight bulb) and it works great, just push button on back of clock. Nice details on side of fireplace, flowers, etc. It does need to be cleaned up but otherwise a great conversation piece, nightlight, or just for decoration. You are bidding on a beautiful. Carved wood, fireplace mantle that was custom made for our house. It is in three pieces, so it is easily adjustable to fit your space. The top measures 78 inches wide and 12 inches deep by 12 inches high. The legs measure 35.25 inches high and 9.25 inches wide. The total height of the unit would be 47.25, but you could easily add another piece to the bottom if you need it taller. This was handmade by a local carpenter and I believe it is poplar wood with a mahogany stain. It is in excellent condition. This is local pickup only in Hinsdale, IL 60521. Double mantel shelves. Fluted columns and a mirror are beautiful. The satiny deep finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique architectural salvage, said to be from Milwaukee. Deep moldings and sound proportions are beautiful on this historic mantel. Overall size is 5' wide. 11" deep, 7' tall, the fire opening is 42 1/2" wide and 39 1/2" tall.
