Antique Tiger Oak C.1890 Victorian Era Fireplace Mantel Mantle Carved Flowers!!
ATTENTION*Please read shipping information*Fine late 1800's or early 1900's solid oak fireplace mantel. Heavy and solid. This mantel features a carved head surrounded by flowers in the center just under the shelf flanked by carved paw feet and legs on each side. The carving on this piece is absolutely stunning! This piece has been refinished at some point. Must have been redone some time ago as there are very tiny/sparse white paint specks on the top. You have to look closely to see them. Other flaws include a piece of trim missing off of the top of the right leg, a very small piece of trim missing from the square part at the bottom of the right front leg, a hole was drilled just to the right of the right leg which was probably for mounting purposes and there is a 1" long piece of trim missing on the top left side towards the ... moreback just under the top shelf. All minor and none detract from the over all appearance. You can view them in the many pictures below. Over all this mantel measures about 61 1/8" wide X 11 1/2" deep X 48" tall. Up for auction today and purchased from a very old Victorian Estate Sale last year. Is this Beautiful Embroidered Linen Lawn, White Firplace Mantel Scarf. These were used quite commonly in the Victorian Homes and Not just at Holiday time, they used them to Adorn the Mantel's so they could show off their Embroidery Work to Caller's. This one is truly beautiful because it has many elements. It has a 3 sides scalloped edge. The entire piece has drawn work, around the edge. There is white silk thread used for Padded Stitch, Button Hole Stitch, Open Work in the Center Medallion. There is one edge on the scalloped corner that has a tiny slit in it, I have taken a photo of it. Also an Area that is just a bit worn, No Holes However. No Stains, or Odors. The scarf is 80" long and is 30" deep bottom to top. Antique Vintage Fireplace Mantel Pine Mantle w/Slate Surround & Hearth! 1920's

My crating fee is $200(the freight charge is separate) Please contact me before purchase for rates. Here is a beautiful old pine mantle that was removed from a home that was built in the late 1920's. Fortunately. The slate surround and slate hearth came out without a fuss and are included. The finish appears to be original. As the shellac/varnish is crackled with a great patina. There are a few spots of over-paint here and there where it met the wall. There are also a few holes and nicks here and there. The large hole on the right(red arrow) is for the flue control handle(which is also included) ... moreand part of it's mechanism. The flue flap itself is not included. Check all photos for condition. There are pieces of base trim from the house that are included to finish off the bottom of the mantel's legs. They were trimmed out in place after the mantel was installed. The base trim pieces will need to be cut to size and installed by a carpenter. The original wooden trim surround for the hearth is also included, though it's in rough shape compared to the rest of the pieces. The slate pieces are in good shape overall. With some wear on their faces from many years of heat and use. The hearth stone has scuffs and wear, as well as a few chips here and there. Check all photos for condition. Dimensions: top mantel shelf is 78" long X 10" deep-overall height is approx. 54 1/2" opening w/o surround is approx. 47 3/4" wide X 37 3/4" tall-opening w/surround is approx. 36" wide X 30" tall-mantel body width is approx. 66" long and projects approx. 5 1/2" off the wall-slate surround pieces are 1 1/8" thick-slate hearth is 66" X 18" X 1" thick Thanks for looking. Spectacular Newport Rhode Island fireplace mantel. Mantel is designed with a woman on each leg of the mantel. I was told by the owner that it was 2 of the following. Faith, hope and charity, but he was not sure which 2. One of the women is holding an anchor. The Mantel has wonderful details as you can see from the pictures. It is a classic example of the French hunting style that was popular during that period. This one is especially nice because it is made from solid walnut. Overall this surround is in very good antique condition. Straight and solid with no major damage. We note that one trim section is missing: just above the set of arches there are a series of peg holes that probably originally held a crown rail or a set of finials(see the last photo in the set) Since this missing section is over six feet above the floor, the holes are not normally visible. They could be filled or covered with another section of trim if desired. Function/Use: Used for support the top shelf of a mantle. Savaged from European chateau in Prague. Lot consists of two(2) corbels. Structure/Composition: Made of hand carved hardwood with dark brown stain. Unstained side shows little grain ands is light honey colored. So it could be poplar or oak. Wear-and-Tear: In excellent condition; varnish is chipped in places. But no damage to the wood. Edges to the leaves are still crisp and unworn. Removal from wall was done well, no chips missing from the corbels; no pry marks or damage from the removal. The wood backing strip that the corbel is glue to is split, but the corbel itself is not. These pieces are distinguised by the swirl/ saw blade marks on the wood. On a number of pieces we will cut the top off. Sand, stain and varnish them. This gives a nice flat uniform finished piece. Only the cut areas are stained to match the original front and bottom. The color on the hand hewn section is from time and weathering. We try to leave as much original as we can while keeping it's integrity sound. Each piece is cleaned. Sanded, and kiln dried(if req'd) to 160 °-170° at the core temperture for 12 hours. We believe this is Red Oak, but that's just a guess, we do not know. There is a missing molding damage on the right of mantle(photographed) the top could use refinishing or not! Overall it is in antique vintage condition, I have wiped and cleaned this with Murphys oil soap and it shined right up. About 61" across. About 74" tall, measurements not exact. Here is a nice antique fireplace mantel. It is made of oak wood and has been refinished and repaired. The pictures of the back shows the repair. The lighter wood under the top plate has been repaired. This measures 50 1/4 inches tall and a total of 60 inches wide. The top is 55 inches wide and 9 1/2 inches deep with the lower ledge being 46 1/2 inches wide and sticks out another 3 3/4 inches. That makes it come out from the wall a total of 14 inches.
