Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are 1/4" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. The front door handle is long and has a separate deadbolt with key. New these type doors with side lites start at $1750, you can look it up at Home Depot. This door also has hinges and a door sweep on bottom. These are used, but in good condition. The glass alone even if taken out of the door or side lites is worth the asking price. Penn Antique Restoration. Vintage NOS Brass-plated Steel Door Set w/Knobs. Plates, Lock, Key. Elegant. Vintage, door set salvaged from Southeastern NH. The set was made by"Lockwood Hardware Mfg. Co. of Fitchburg, MA. It consists of 2 knobs, 2 escutcheons, 1 steel lock with a faceplate, 1 strike plate, 1 spindle and a working key. All parts are made of steel and are plated with brass. There are a few places were the brass wore off, but the majority of the plating is intact. The set is considered. New Old Stock, which means that it was made a long time ago but was never used. Aside from the tiny nicks and light scratches in the plating. All parts are in excellent condition with no breaks, cracks, dents, or deep scratches. About the lock: The lock is reversible and could accommodate either a left or right swing door. The buttons on the ... morelock faceplate control a function. Which disables/enables the exterior knob from turning. Once the bottom button is depressed, the exterior knob will not turn, and the upper latch will remain extended, in the locked position. In essence, the upper latch acts as a deadbolt and provides an extra level of security from anyone on the outside of the door. Once the exterior knob is frozen, and the door is shut, the only way to retract the upper latch is by using the key for the top keyhole, or by turning the interior knob. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the house/room. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply turn the knob, open the door, let someone in, close the door and it's already locked. To disable the auto-lock feature, simply push the top button. The lock was opened. The set consists of 2 bronze knobs; 1 larger, bronze, exterior escutcheon; 1 smaller, bronze, interior, escutcheon with a thumbturn; 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate; 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb; 1 brass mortise cylinder with 1 working key and 1 brass anti-theft collar; and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs. All bronze/brass parts are solid bronze/brass, not plated steel. Originally, all bronze parts were copper-plated, however, much of the plating wore off over the years. The knobs and plates are embellished with an exquisite. Neo-Classical style design. At the point of salvage. The set was found dirty and unevenly tarnished(see ... morelast photo) Since then, we've cleaned and polished all parts to the best of our ability. The knob collar of the exterior plate broke or fell off at some point and someone re-secured it with solder. Although the repair worked and the collar is secure. The silver-colored ring around the collar stuck out like sore thumb. We removed most of the solder with some steal wool and a lot of elbow grease. Whatever solder remained will be concealed by the knob. On the exterior plate. There is a crack in the bottom of the knob collar, and a few small dents and scratches around the hole where the mortise cylinder goes. Otherwise, all parts are in great condition with only the typical small nicks and light scratches that you would expect to find on 100+ year old hardware. Heavy-duty, vintage entry set made by"Norwalk Lock Co. of Norwalk, CT sometime during the first half of the previous century. It consists of 2 brass knobs, 2 brass escutcheons, 1 steel mortise lock with a brass faceplate, 1 bronze mortise cylinder w/1 working key& 1 brass anti-theft collar, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, 1 split spindle with 2 setscrews, and 12 installation screws. All brass parts are solid brass, not plated steel. At the point of salvage. The set was missing a knob. We found one in our collection that is a near match to the knob found with the set. The knob we found was tarnished, and although we cleaned and polished it to the best of our ability, it doesn't have the same mirror-finish of the ... morerest of the parts. However, as time goes on and all of the parts begin to tarnish, they will eventually have a similar finish. The lock is reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. This set is considered. New Old Stock, which means that it was made a long time ago but was never used. Aside from a few light scuffs here and there, all parts are in excellent condition with no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, or deep scratches. The lock was opened inspected and we sprayed grease on and around all internal parts to facilitate their movement. The lock operates smoothly. It's tough to find complete. Polished SOLID BRASS Sargent exterior door lock dead bolt # S 73 & 2 keys # S 78
This is a Sargent exterior door lockset with deadbolt and two keys. It is solid brass- weighs about 6 pounds. I found it in a drawer in an old garage along with lots of pieces of scrap metal There is a number stamped on the edge of the deadbolt- S 73. There also are numbers on both keys# S 78. The keys operate the deadbolt even though they have different numbers. There is a number on the back of the strike plate. But I can not read it completely. It looks like# 2005L or 20C5L or? This unit has never been installed- the polished brass screws are still in a paper wrapper. However. There are scratches on the unit from being inside a drawer with alot of other items for what appears to be many years. If anyone can tell me more about how old this lockset is. It would be appreciated.

It is white on one side and white and pink on the other side. The door is solid and glass is good. Has several layers of paint which is cracking and chipping. It does not have door handles but does have the door handle plate on one side and the original hinges. Measurements are approx. 79-1/4" tall x 31-2/4" wide x 1-3/8" thick. It consists of 2 back plates, 2 bronze handles and thumb latches, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate, 1 bronze strike plate for the jamb, 1 bronze cylinder mortise w/1 working key& 1 bronze anti-theft collar, and 4 steel nuts to secure the pulls to the backplates. All bronze parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast bronze, not plated iron/steel. Originally, all parts were chrome plated. Most of the plating remains, however, the amount of plating varies from part to part; please see photos for more detail. The set was made by. Russwin, of New Britain, CT sometime during the first half of the previous century. The design of the pulls is called, Granby. The mortise lock ... moreis fully reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. We only found 1 mortise cylinder with the set. Although the key works. It's a bit stubborn. A locksmith may be able to make a newer key, which will work better. You could also just get 2 new mortises, which are keyed alike to have for both front and back sides of the door. The buttons on the lock faceplate control a function. Which disables/enables the exterior knob from turning. Once the bottom button is depressed, the exterior knob will not turn, and the upper latch will remain extended, in the locked position. In essence, the upper latch acts as a deadbolt and provides an extra level of security from anyone on the outside of the door. Once the exterior knob is frozen, and the door is shut, the only way to retract the upper latch is by using the key for the top keyhole, or by turning the interior knob. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the house/room. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply turn the knob, open the door, let someone in, close the door and it's already locked. To disable the auto-lock feature, simply push the top button.

The set consists of 2 iron knobs; 2 escutcheons(1 has a thumbturn) 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate; 1 steel strike plate for the door jamb; the original"McKinney" mortise cylinder w/o key; a bronze. Corbin, mortise cylinder w/1 working key and bronze anti-theft collar; and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs. All iron parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast iron, not flimsy, stamped(pressed) steel. Originally. All iron parts were painted with a black enamel paint, and surprisingly, most of the paint remained! The knobs and plates have a lovely. Hammered texture, and an elegant, Tudor style ... moredesign. Since we didn't want to remove any of the original. Black paint, we opted not to clean the set. However, we could try to clean it to achieve a uniform finish(no guarantee) for an additional $25-email us after the auction if you're interested. All parts are in great condition with only the typical small nicks and light scratches that you would expect to find on old. Used hardware. However, there are no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, gouges, or deep scratches. About the lock: The lock is reversible and could accommodate either a left or right swing door. The buttons on the lock faceplate control a function. Which disables/enables the exterior knob from turning. Once the bottom button is depressed, the exterior knob will not turn, and the upper latch will remain extended, in the locked position. In essence, the upper latch acts as a deadbolt and provides an extra level of security from anyone on the outside of the door. Once the exterior knob is frozen, and the door is shut, the only way to retract the upper latch is by using the key for the top keyhole, or by turning the interior knob. All bronze parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast bronze, not stamped or plated steel. We found the cylinder mortises without keys. Without keys. We are uncertain if the cylinders work. You could take them to a local locksmith, who could rekey them for under $20 each.
