These have not been cleaned and all original patina is still intact. This pair of backplates was removed from a home in the Kitchener-Waterloo area(Ontario) which was built in the 1870s. They were on an exterior door. These appear to have an Eastlake design and are numbered 5512 1/2 on each plate. Antique Salvage 1874 Exterior Door with jamb/ sidelights and transom
I am not sure of the wood but most likely oak-it is a hardwood. I will do further checking on that and post. 1874 salvage from a mansion. Sorry the pictures are not the best it is stored in a 1879 church that I am restoring. You are welcome to look at it before bidding. Very heavy. The side show was the outside part, the other side is white and fits flush against the interior wall. This is to heavy for me to move myself when I get help I will post the other side. There is a few pieces of trim damaged on the other side but can be restored. The side lights are a Florentine type of glass inside of a triangle. The one sidelight has a crack and the top transom window has a cracked area. But all glass is intact, a piece of wood is on the other side across the transom window. LARGE ORNATE ANTIQUE METAL EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE
This exterior door handle was removed from the door of a 100 year old Victorian Mansion in Fremont. NE. I was converting the Mansion to an Assisted Living Facility and I had to switch the front door out in order to meet Fire and Safety Code. It appears to be brass covered with Silver Plate. Much of it worn off due to usage. It is 13" long, 5" around at the widest point and it extends 4 1/4" from the door. It weighs 2.2 pounds. It's made of either solid pine or Douglas Fir, and features 3 glass lites and 3 panels. When most people hear"pine" they think of a cheap. Weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10- 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. Height: The door's height was unevenly cut by 1/4" The cut was most likely made to compensate for a settling foundation or an old warped floor. 1870's Iron Mechanical Door Bell, Lever & Exterior Plate
Three piece iron mechanical door bell. Has 3 patent dates 1872. 1873, and 187? 3 3/4" diameter not including the mounting holes. As you can see, the top screw is missing. Found a new one that fits, but not pretty. So was able to put it together to test. Works smoothly and has a nice sound. Rescued this from our local hardware store when it was torn down years ago.

The door in general has a nice design and is very substantial as it weighs 85 lbs and the wood is thick. Shows some typical wear with some surface scratches. There is light paint residue that should clean up.Nice graining. One hinge is bent. But hardware is intact including the door handles. No lock. This auction is for an old MECHANICAL DOOR BELL. It is a 2 piece set consisting of the bell assy and the exterior knob. It works fine. When you turn the knob back and forth it will ring in both directions. It is a continuous fairly loud ring. The rod that goes thru the door(not incuded) is simply a piece of 1/8 inch square which you would cut to length depending on the thickness of the door. The knob is copper, the rest is mostly steel. Penn Antique Restoration. Set of 3 Restored Vintage"Stanley" Ball Tip Door Hinges 4 1/2"x4 1/2" Vintage door hinges made by"Stanley Works" of New Britain. CT sometime during the first half of the previous century. These hinges were salvaged from Western Ohio. At first. We thought that they were solid, cast bronze. We were very surprised when we tested them and a magnet stuck to them. Although they are bronze plated steel, they are in impeccable condition for most of their bronze plating to have stayed intact after many decades of use. At the point of salvage. All parts were dirty and tarnished(see last photo) Since then, we've cleaned and polished the hinges to the best of our ability, trying to preserve as much of the plating as possible.
