This door has an uncommon arrangement of 8 glass lites. If you're not familiar with cypress. It's considered a soft wood, but it's quite durable and rot-resistant. It is very popular in the South because it could stand up to the high humidity. At some point. Someone cut a thin layer from the top rail. The removed portion, was put back or replaced later on. It's firmly held in place, and does not require any further repair. There is a visible seam, which could be filled with wood putty prior to repaint or refinish. The door has a solid pine core covered with 1/16" thick, oak veneers, and has an impressive arrangement of 15, true-divided, beveled glass lites. When most people hear"pine" they think of a cheap. Weak, and soft wood. New pine hewn from 10- 20 year old trees doesn't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old has. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. Also. Please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are 1/16" ... morethick and provide strength and stability to the door. Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However. We have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the door(check out our eBay store) If you would like any of the hardware holes patched with a solid block of wood. Please email us for a quote. Condition: On the exterior side. The upper left corner and both bottom corners are missing veneer. On the interior side, both bottom corners are missing veneer. It is made of solid Douglas Fir and has a half length wavy glass lite. The panels are shaker style(no molding) and are raised, but the exterior side has been cut by the previous owner in the form of a"+" I think that the door's previous installation was inside of a clinic. Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However. W e have a good selection of period hardware in our eBay store. And tons more in our physical store. Penn Antique Restoration. Modern Cast Bronze Door Set Knobs Plates Lock& Strikeplate. This set is only for a right-handed door. Beautiful. Modern, door set salvaged from Northeastern PA. The set was made by"Yale& Towne" of Stamford, CT around the 1980's. It consists of 2 bronze knobs, 2 stamped bronze escutcheons, 1 steel mortise cylinder, 1 steel mortise lock with a bronze faceplate, 1 bronze strike plate, and 1 split spindle with a securing nut. One half of the spindle is unable to be removed from the knob. To reconnect the knobs requires to engage the threaded portions of the spindle and turn clockwise. All bronze parts are solid, cast bronze, not stamped or plated iron. The white part between the latch is made of plastic which indicates this set is modern. The knobs and plates have a simple. Straightforward design. ... moreAt the point of salvage, we found the set clean and lacquered. It is"New Old Stock" which means that the set was made a long time ago but was never used. There are only small nicks here and there on the lacquer caused by the environment. This only leaves the set with a subtle distressed look. Otherwise. All parts are in excellent condition with no breaks, cracks, or deep scratches. The lock was opened inspected and we sprayed WD40 on and around all internal parts to facilitate their movement. Measures about 45" wide by 84" high. This door may have been removed from a Meeting Street. Charleston, South Carolina residence quite some time ago and is a rare offering indeed. True age is unknown, note the through tenons, light pine or cypress construction, recessed panels and wavy glass. The door was partially stripped of paint way back when to see what was under that white top coat, not many layers of old paint there and it should be easy to complete the preparation for a new finish. Antique 1890's Commercial Bronze Exterior Entry Door Lockset Knobs Plates Lock
Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Brass Door Set Knobs Plates Lock& Strikeplate. Distressed. Heavy-duty, commercial grade hardware made by"Russwin" of New Britain, CT around the 1890's. It consists of 2 brass knobs, 2 brass escutcheons, 1 brass mortise cylinder with a brass anti-theft collar, 1 steel mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 split spindle with a setscrew and a securing pin. All brass parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast brass, not stamped brass or plated iron. Since this set was used for commercial installation. It was designed to be strong and secure. The exterior knob is permanently affixed to the spindle with a securing pin. Once the knob is mounted on the escutcheon, the tall collar of the plate bars access to the pin. The only way you could access the pin is by ... moreloosening the screw and removing the knob on the other side of the door. The lock is not reversible. And it could only accommodate a door that swings into a home, towards the left. If your door swings in the other direction, you could still install this set, but you would have to install it upside down, with the knobs on top, and cylinder mortise on the bottom. The mortise lock is locked by pushing the bottom button on the faceplate. And unlocked by either pushing the top button or using a key. Once locked, the door could only be opened by turning the knob on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the room. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply turn the knob, open the door, let someone in, close the door and it's already locked. To disable the auto-lock feature, simply push the bottom button. We found the cylinder mortise without a key. Without a key. We are uncertain if the cylinder works. You could take it to a local locksmith, who could rekey it for under $20. Antique Brass Beaux Arts French Exterior Entry Door Lockset Knob Plate Lock Key
Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Beaux Arts Style Entry Door Set Knobs Plate Lock Key. Gorgeous. Antique, entry door lockset made by"Lockwood Lock Co. of Fitchburg, MA circa 1914. The set consists of 2 brass knobs, 1 brass stamped escutcheon, 1 stamped brass rosette, 1 stamped brass keyhole cover, 1 iron mortise lock with cast brass faceplate, 2 working keys, 1 cast brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 set screws to connect the knobs, and 12 screws(not shown in the photos) to install the lock and plates. The knobs and plates are solid brass, not brass plated steel. Originally, all parts were copper plated, however, except for the keyhole cover, which retained most of it's plating, only traces of copper could be found on the other parts. The knobs and escutcheon have a stunning French style design-check out ... morethose whiplash curves! All parts were found dirty and unevenly tarnished(see last photo) Since then. We've clea ned and polished all parts to the best of our ability. One of the knobs has a tiny dent. Which could be seen in the close up photo of the knobs, and the keyhole cover has some tiny dents too. Otherwise, the set is in great condition with only minor nicks and scratches here and there, typical for hardware this old. There are no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, gouges, or heavy scratches. The lock was opened. Inspected, and we sprayed WD-40 on and around all parts to facilitate their movement. Slide bolts are easily operated by utilizing the decorative cast brass knob set upon a cast brass escutcheon. Offered as found with an unmolested original finish. This exterior door features a single lower horizontal panel, with a simple dentil shelf perched below the stunning leaded and pressed glass pane. The window has a geometric pattern of curved shapes and rectangles, featuring a central fleur-de-lis composed of beveled glass. The surrounding glass is a combination of different patterned panes, with rippled, cubed and scaled glass. The door has been stained a light brown and has the wear and tear typical of an old door. Restored Vintage Brass Exterior Deadbolt Entry Door Lockset Knobs Plate Lock Key
Penn Antique Restoration. Vintage Solid Brass"Yale" Door Set w/Knobs. Plates, Lock& Keys. Elegant. Vintage, door set made by"Yale& Towne" of Stamford, CT sometime during the first half of the previous century around the fist half of the previous century. The set consists of 2 brass knobs, 2 stamped brass escutcheons, 1 steel mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1"Corbin" brass mortise cylinder w/2 keys, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, 1 steel split spindle with 1 setscrew and 1 securing pin to connect the knobs, and 8 installation screws to fasten the lock and plates to the door. All brass parts are solid brass, not plated iron. Although the set has a simple. Straightforward design, the elegant curves of the escutcheons add a stylish element to the aesthetic appeal of the set. Notice the lower, ... moretriangular latch of the lock. The middle section is made of a hardwood-what rare feature! At the point of salvage. All parts were painted and dirty. Since then, we've cleaned and polished all parts to the best of our ability. Considering it's age. The set is in great condition! There are some small dents around the upper screw hole of the interior escutcheon and on the faceplate of the lock, and there is a small dent in the center of one of the knobs(tough to spot) Otherwise, there are only subtle scratches and tiny nicks here and there, which are typical for hardware this old. However, there are no breaks, cracks, or gouges. About the Lock: The lock is fully reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. The mortise lock is locked by pushing the top button on the faceplate. And unlocked by either pushing the bottom button or using a key. Once locked, the door could only be opened by turning the knob on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door.
