Found this absolutely gorgeous. Wooden jewelry box at an Estate sale. This is the old' Blond- Hollywood type' jewelry box. It isn't perfect. But I think it is beautiful and very nostalgic. Very heavy- weighing 5 pounds and 12 ounces before packing! There IS a' bump' on the front left corner- which would be an easy fix for anyone in wood-working. Has three deep drawers with silver-tone pulls. Top raises up(above fake drawer on top) to reveal another compartment and a mirror. Both sides open and each side has places to hang two necklaces. Inside lining is a black velvet or velour. I believe this box is veneered- as there are some lines in some of the veneer- VERY hard to see. The jewelry box is solid as a rock! Matching pair of ornate. Architectural, salvaged panels, just dying for a little imagination. Solid, quarter sawn oak construction. Square nails mean most likely circa 1865-1885. Starting from the bottom, you have bevelled baseboard trim. Then is a recessed bevelled panel with fluted side columns. Near the top are small carved columns flanking a spoon carved Eastlake panel. Additional Eastlake flowers at top corners with a bevelled arch in between. Some wear/dings but no breaks, missing pieces or repairs. Slight finish imperfections but excellent overall condition. They are substantial Victorian pieces measuring 38 1/2 inches tall, 12 3/4 inches wide, and weigh 13LBS each. Many other ornate furniture pieces listed. all questions encouraged and answered. This is an original Thomas Edison radio/ phonograph cabinet. It was made in Edisons furniture factory in New Jersey. Reviewing the history of this cabinet I found the following information. In 1916 Edison's furniture started producing cabinets for his radios and phonographs. He started producing the cabinets by large quanities in 1918 in many of his furniture manufacturing facilities. A majority of the cabinets were produced from 1918 through 1923 This cabinet I have for sale has the original factory stamp on the rear side. The cabinet is 43 inches high. 24 inches wide and 15 inches in depth. The cabinet, by itself is 24 x 15. The legs are very sturdy and not wobbly The doors slide easily in a wooden track The back of the cabinet has plywood nailed to it The veneering on the top is warped from water.
