Antique Floor Grate or Cold Air Return Register Cast Iron 14" X 17"
Old cast iron cold air return or floor grate. Measures 14x17. It has been painted white on the front side that is coming off in spots. Back side has surface rust. This grate was in the basement of the house we bought. We bought the house from the estate of a gentleman whom was over 100 years old when he passed. So I don't know the exact age of the grate. Thomas Jeckyll Fire Grate/ Basket This antique Aesthetic Movement/ Victorian coal basket is in excellent condition with only some minor wear. Designed by Thomas Jeckyll(English. 1827-1881) Made by Barnard, Bishop& Barnards, Norfolk Iron Works c1875(UK) Thomas Jeckyll is the architect of the famous"Peacock Room" which is installed at the Freer Gallery of Art in Washington DC until December 2015. It features a swiveling bottom grate and decorative lion's paw front pieces. The previous owner had it inside a Thomas Jeckyll"Cast Moth Signature" fireplace surround that was covered by a marble mantle via a recent remodel. He did not want to dismantle the marble work to reclaim the rest of the surround and was only selling the basket. The only flaw is a flat spot worn on one of the back wheels. Which is stuck, and a very ... moreslight heat warp in the back plate(too subtle to show in the photos) This has never been painted but has a fresh coat of stove polish(carbon black) It measures 16 inches high to the top of the back plate. 23 inches at the widest point(front) the back is 16.5 inches wide and the front rail is 9.5 inches high. I am offering up for auction a VTG OLD Antique Chinese Dragon floor grate Cast iron Heat Grid register. This came from a estate sale here in Pa. This has a Chinese dragon type motif at least it looks like it to me to be dragons with the teeth coming down. The edge has lines and corners are a waffled look. This measures approximately 9 1/2 by 11 3/4 inches. And 1 3/4 inches tall. There is a 7/8 of a inch lip on the underside from the edge to the part that sits into the floor. The part that sits into the floor is tapered and is approximately 7 1/2 by 9 3/4 inches and 1 3/4 inches tall. This is dirty needs cleaned is missing the inside fins and mechanical pieces. This auction is for a great old grate! Manufactured by the Mt Penn Stove Works. Reading, PA, this grate is used and in excellent working order- the vent turns open and closed freely. It was never painted but has evidence of mortar or some similar light colored sealing agent on the flue. The plate measures 9 3/8" square and the flue is 6 5/8" ID and 6 7/8" OD. The back of the grate is only embossed as"7 IN" Which indicates the size and that it is older than grates marked as both"7 IN" and"IMP" Another difference is that this grate has only two corner holes for securing it to the wall versus the four on the"IMP" model. Please look at my pictures to see the very nice fine detail on the flowers etc. I removed the caked on coats of paint to reveal the detail. I also cleaned this register and gave the louvers a light coat of flat black paint. The louvers function properly. The cast decorative front I left unpainted. You can pick your own color. I cleaned this register so it was more presentable to sell and for the buyer to receive something clean to handle and some small preparation to paint. antique cast iron primitive yet decorative grate, wall or floor hardware decor
This grate is 12" X 10" across decorative cast iron face. It is currently 2 1/2" deep from CI front to back of tin; the tin and galvanized strip will come right off if buyer would like me to remove it for thinner package(it would then be just over an inch thick) It was applied to adapt grate. And I can easily cut off with tin snips if wanted. The lever to open and close trap is a bit sticky from paint, but works and will loosen up; it is highlighted in photograph#2.

This listing is for an antique used cast iron pinwheel style heat grate or air vent register. It measures 9 3/8” x 9 3/8” across the top. The pinwheel measures 7 7/8” across. The bottom raised lip is 7 3/8” across and it would required a minimum 7 1/2” hole to install, and dept of hole must be at least 1” This grate has no cracks, repairs or breaks and is in good condition with normal use wear. The pinwheel opens and closes very easily. There are no makers markings on this grate, but many of these were made by the Reading Stove Works of Mount Penn, Pennsylvania. This grate was obtained about 25 miles from this location and may have been made there. This is a nice piece for the restoration of an early home. Unique Folk Art Gothic Griffin Dragon Cast Iron Andiron Fireplace Grate Set
It's ready to go into a fireplace- picture it with glowing embers and flames. Created by a master craftsman. This folk art piece combines Griffin or Dragon Andirons with a fireplace grate and decorative front grate piece. I've tried to show every angle, it comes in 3 parts, the main piece, lower decorative front grate and smaller metal grate that inserts into the larger piece that tips to get rid of ashes etc. The fireplace grate and front grate are attached as shown in the pictures. The front decorative piece appears to have been broken and then welded back together, see pictures. It weighs a massive 44.3 lbs.
