2276 Boy the stories this thing could tell! It's an old Cast Iron Wall Grate and Vent. I've done NOTHING to alter it. This is exactly as we found it. You can choose to strip and repaint it.OR leave it with the chippy old white paint. It's in solid condition with no cracks. The little lever is stuck and I've not even tried to pry it open. Also. The metal border on the back is bent. You could remove it altogether, or try to take it off and bend it back. So many times when we find these they no longer even HAVE the back hardware so it's nice that we found this with that in place. Measures 11 3/4" wide and 9 3/4" tall. You are invited to bid on an antique cast iron arch top heat register grate/vent. MEASUREMENTS: Outside measurements: 12" x 16" Inside measurements for actual opening: 10" x 14" This is a very nice old grate with a fancy design. There are stylized flowers along the outside edge. There is an overall pattern of flowers. Leaves and ferns, and other scrollwork. The center design is raised. This heat register grate is in very good overall"as-found" condition. There is a hairline crack on the edge at the top(see bottom photo) It does not compromise the integrity of the grate and can be covered over with paint. It has chippy white paint on it. We cleaned it off and removed the dust bunnies. We sprayed the moving parts with WD-40 so that the lever works properly, and the fins open and close easily. Here is an excellent example of a vintage 1905 cast iron baseboard heat register. Damper, grate, in what I will call an ornate pinwheel design. All complete, rust free, and showing no cracks, breaks or repairs. This 3 piece unit, measures 14"x15 3/4"outside the ornate outer frame, with an 11"x 14"ornate grate and damper. This was made for a 10"x13" supply duct from the wall at the baseboard. But makes a nice patina. The louvers are stuck! They need some rust remover or something of the like. There is a corner broken off on 1 of the louvers(see pic) The need a little clean up as well. Adams Company Antique ceiling through floor register with summer cover. Nice cast iron patina. This is the full set of 4 pieces. The ceiling decorative plate the floor plate and the damper with manufactures information in raised letter, Then the ornate summer insert when the flue pip is put away. I believe any flue plate was considered used on the void in the ceiling plate since we cant find any other covers or the small inset can be used on ether floor or ceiling. 15.5 diameter weight 14 pounds. These were used as through wall thimbles to and were quite attractive with a black felt backing or tar paper during the summer time when the stove was put away. Great condition. Antique Cast Iron Grate by Adams Co. with cast iron stand
You'd be hard pressed to find a turn of the century grate in better condition! Just received at Consignment World is this fabulous cast iron grate with stand. I have tried to research this item but have had no luck finding a similiar item. As you can see from the pictures. This grate is in very good condition. It's manufactured by The Adams Company out of Debuque, Iowa. The design patent on this grate is embossed Aug. 31st, 1897. As you can see from the pictures, the grate is complete with the removable center piece and the vent slide. The condition is great and this grate has"the look" of a turn of the century piece. The stand- I can find nothing about it. It too is cast iron. It has part number 6148 embossed on the leg and 6149 embossed on the center hub that joins the legs together. On each of the 3 legs is the name"STAHL" ... morethat's cut out of the legs. I do not know if this was a customs stand for someone named Stahl or if it was a manufacturing name, but I've been unable to find anything out about it and my consignor did not know either. If anyone viewing this can educate me further about it, please message me so I can add information to this post. The Grate measures 15 3/4" in diameter and it stands 10 3/4" tall when sitting on the stand. This is a very cool vintage round/circular cast iron grate/vent/duct cover. This one was made by Stowell Manufacturing& Foundry Company South Milwaukee. Wisconsin. The center piece is completely gone, then the grate that moves to increase/decrease the air flow. All in all this item has a 16" diameter, the center hole is 6.25" in diameter. This is an excellent advertising, metal art piece that can be used as home/office decor or wall art of some sort. Please ask questions if you have any!
