A classical double fusee bracket cuckoo clock from the late 1800s.Bought by my father in the mid 1930s and passed to me decades ago. I have not had it runningfor many years. It is un cleaned and unpolished and remains as it has for years.It had a checkover in the early 1990s by a clockmaker in Suffolk who made a few minor repairs eg. cuckoo door hinges, new hammer for gong. and I believe, top boxes of the bellows. There is some writing on the inside of the wooden backplate, C J Whirly( Purchased at sale of Lord Hardly( nr Worster 1928 £7-10-0. Also a pencil number on one of the side doors 96362. Some of it's specifications include the following: Cup type/size: compatible with cups having English threads and measuring 1.37" in diameter x 24 threads per inch(tpi) Shell width: 68 mm. Spindle/axle type: JIS square-tapered with 3P markings. Spindle/axle length: 119 mm. Production locale: Made in Japan(best guess) Special note: The spindle/axle has asymmetrical measurements. As one ... moreside of the spindle end(including the width of the cone) measures 35 mm, while the other side measures 32 mm and the center section measures 52 mm. Cabinet Hook / Bracket for George Nelson OMNI CSS Wall Unit (reproduction)
This listing is for a single urethane plastic resin reproduction bracket to replace the original Bakelite hooked cabinet bracket used with the George Nelson OMNI modular storage system. This hooked bracket is used in combination with the rectangular bracket pictured in last photos to mount early versions of the Omni cabinets with oval cutouts. I have several hooked brackets available. If you purchase multiple brackets. The shipping cost increases only incrementally. Photos 1. 2, 3& 4 show the approximate color of the reproductions. The 5th photo shows the oval cabinet insertion point with the bracket inserted. Photo 6 shows some of the bad original instructions. Photo 7 shows the rectangular brackets that attach to the Omni pole and support the hook/cabinet. This is a Fabulous Signed 1800s J J Elliott Burl Wood Bracket Mantle Clock it is simply stunning in beauty! The clock has Samuel Kirk& Son. Inc. Baltimore M. Made in England on the dial face so I'm assuming it was made for the famous Baltimore MD. Silversmith Samuel Kirks company that started in 1815. This clock has an 8 day movement signed that chimes on the 1& the 1/2 hour and it works great! The clock is old is shows signs of wear and some fading but over all it is still in fantastic condition. J J Elliott is a well known English clock maker that is known for making high quality movements. I do not know the age but by the looks of the case and movement I guess around 1880s. The wood has crazing or shrinkage lines but it truly just adds to it's wonderful look. It has the original pendulum I do also have the original key ... morebut it is not in the photos the door key is also the original door key. You are looking at a rare Titanium Bottom Bracket with aluminum hardware and sealed bearings. This would be awesome on a townie. Fixie, or a retro roadbike build up. This is a very interesting piece. Probably US made. In the hey-day of innovation. Instead of a hollow spindle, 4 flutes are machined on the OD. I've never seen another one like this. The only markings are"D-5-4" on the spindle. Crank bolts and washers are aluminum as well. This thing is LIGHT! Normal wear and tear on the cups. One bearing is butter smooth. The other is a bit gritty. Bearings are the widely available 6903RS, and are easily changed.
