This is probably the rarest cymbal holder you will ever find! Leedy& Ludwig was formed in the early 1950's. And was gone by 1955. This cymbal holder was brand new in 1953, so it was only in production for two years. As you can see from my pictures. This assembly is in superb condition. All of the metal parts are brilliantly nickel plated, and shine like new! Total extended height is about 22" and the tilter assembly has new felt washers and a rubber cymbal insulator. Here is a great set of Dia-Comp Center pull brakes and various parts. Included in this auction is 6 calipers. 4 center pull brackets(2 are on still on the brake) and 2 different quick release levers. 4 of the calipers are pure Dia-comp and 2 are Schwinn approved. 3 of them are short reach measuring around 50 mm to the middle of the pad mount to the bike mounting post. 2 of them are around 60 mm and the last one is long reach of around 70 mm. The pads on all of them are in good condition and I feel that they dont need replacing. These are all fresh take off parts and do need a little cleaning. It is a wall mount piece with heavy 4 inch high bracket with 6 screw holes. The expanding arm is about 17 inches when pulled out. It has 6 hooks on the bottom edges and a swivel clip on the end. I do not see where a mirror might attach. But it came with a box of bathroom mirrors and accessories. In good condition with some marks, scratches, and paint wear. Phil Wood BB retaining mounting rings, British, stainless steel, bottom bracket
Here's a pair of Phil Wood retaining rings. These are used to install Phil Wood cartridge bottom brackets into bicycle frames. They also work with certain Shimano cartridge BBs if the Shimano cups are removed. These rings are British threaded to fit the vast majority of bicycles. Material is stainless steel for the best durability. Rings are used. But have no damage and will work as well as new rings. A bottom bracket is not included, but I have 2 Phil Wood BBs and a Shimano UN72 BB in my other auctions. Get one of my BBs and the rings ship for free! The rings are British threaded. This is the current standard and will fit all modern bikes and the majority of vintage bikes. I have a pair of French threaded Phil rings in my other auction if you need French threading(35x1 mm) Use these rings to install Phil Wood bottom brackets. Phil's ... moreinstallation instructions can be found HERE. You'll need the special Phil Wood bottom bracket tool to install the rings. A Shimano BB tool won't work as the splines are different. The rings were only installed and removed once. So they are in great shape. They show the normal evidence of installation. You can see tool marks and the marks from where the rings interface with the bottom bracket. The red marking on the outside edge of one of the rings is to identify it as the driveside ring. There is some loctite residue in the threads. The threads are as good as new. They threaded in and out of the frame's bottom bracket shell smoothly. As a further confirmation that the threads are sound, I threaded a British/ISO lockring across the nondriveside ring and it turned smoothly throughout the entire range. I couldn't use this test on the driveside due to the ring's left-hand threads, but I can't see any reason why those threads aren't fine. Remember that both rings threaded in and out of the frame smoothly. The rings will also work with Shimano cartridge bottom brackets. Phil Wood sealed cartridge bottom bracket BB, 108 mm symmetrical, silky smooth!
Here's a Phil Wood sealed cartridge bottom bracket with a stainless steel spindle. Spindle turns silky smooth as Phil Wood BBs are famous for. These are the most durable. Longest lasting BBs you can buy. Excellent for long distance riding and the most extreme weather. When the bearings finally do wear out, they are easily replaceable as they are simply pressed into the shell. The BB has approximately 250 miles on it. I used it with the Exage single ring crankset I have in my other auction. There is no play in the bearings at all. The spindle turns with a light fluid resistance just like a new BB. I bought this BB for use with the vintage Exage crankset in my other auction. The spindle measures 108 mm in length and is symmetrical on both sides. Due to the design of these bottom brackets. They can be positioned within a 5 mm range either ... moredirection to dial in the perfect chainline. This allows the BB to be positioned so it is symmetrical(same amount of spindle protruding on each side) or offset to either side. This could be especially helpful if you are trying to get perfect chainline with a singlespeed or fixed gear bike. In fact, I used this BB on a fixed gear and chose it in part due to the adjustable chainline feature. There are many vintage Japanese cranksets that take a 109-113 mm spindle. This BB would be a good match for these cranksets with the advantage of reducing the tread(Q-factor) This size is also found on some track cranksets. If you don't know the BB size your crank requires. Check Sheldon Brown's BB size database for your crank at http:sheldonbrown.com/bbsize.html. Although that is a very exhaustive list. It does not include all cranks. Spindle taper is JIS. This fits all Asian cranksets. Some European cranks. Such as Campagnolo, use ISO tapers. However, I believe taper makes little difference in practice. The taper differences between ISO and JIS are so small that they may be within the manufacturing tolerance in many instances. Here's a replacement bottom bracket spindle from the days of cup and cone BBs. Model CR4205. Size is 68x132 mm. Length from end to end is 132 mm and it is designed for bottom brackets shells that are 68 mm wide. The spindle is asymmetrical. The driveside sticks out 3 mm more than the nondriveside. The spindle can be flipped if you want the opposite orientation. Stamped on the middle of the spindle is"3TR-B Cr-Mo K-4" The"Cr-Mo" indicates the spindle is a quality spindle made out of Chromoly steel. It is hollow for light weight. The spindle is brand new. Never used or installed. Since it is new, there is no wear on the bearing races. I bought this as a spare for a bike I have since sold, so no longer have a use for it. In my experience. Classic cup and cone BBs wear out because the spindle races start to pit. I've ... morenever seen the cups pit; it always seems to be the spindle that starts pitting first. A new spindle is a great, inexpensive way to refresh an older BB and give it many more years of smooth operation. This would also be a good spare to have on hand since there are very few, if any, manufacturers making quality spindles for vintage cup and cone BBs anymore. This is a long spindle by modern standards. This length was used on many Japanese cranks in the 1970s and early 1980s. The cranks that used a spindle this long typically have straight arms. Vintage Shimano BB-UN72 110 mm bottom bracket BB no cups, use Phil Wood rings
Here's a Shimano BB-UN72 cartridge bottom bracket with a classic square taper spindle. It is missing the cups that fasten it into the frame. But Phil Wood retaining rings can be substituted. Phil Wood rings are actually an improvement as they allow chainline adjustment and the ability to install the BB in frames with non-standard threading. I have 2 sets of Phil Wood retaining rings in my other auctions if you are interested. The spindle turns silky smooth and feels like a new BB. Spindle length is 110 mm as stamped on the left spindle side. I believe this BB is sold as symmetrical. In other words. The length of spindle that sticks out on both sides is supposed to be the same. However, my measurements show the left side sticking out 3 mm more than the right. This may be because the cups are what center the BB. However, it is a moot point ... moreas the position can be adjusted within a 5 mm range with the Phil Wood retaining rings. So you can easily make the BB spindle stick out the same amount on both sides, or offset it if you need to. For 68 or 73 mm wide bottom bracket shells. It will work on either because Phil rings do not have a shoulder. Thus the rings can sink into the BB shell. Shimano uses the same cartridge assembly for both 68 and 73 models; it is only the cups that differ. Shimano uses different cups to handle the different widths. Phil Wood does not use different cups to handle the 2 widths as their rings don't have shoulders on them and thus don't require a fixed position. That is also what allows the chainline adjustment. Chainline is especially important on fixed gears, single speeds, and bikes with internally geared hubs. Using Phil Wood retaining rings has another advantage. This BB can be used in frames of other threading since Phil Wood makes their retaining rings in all possible BB threadings. Use it in frames that are British/ISO. French, Swiss, or Italian threaded. Up for auction an early AVOCET triple used crank with 44. 41 and 26 tooth chainrings, 170mm arms. This one is missing the inner chainring bolts and spacers and comes with a super smooth spindle and bearings but no cups. There are some scratches and scuffs from shoe rub and very small pitting. could be polished out) Very light alloy crank for this era early 80's and was used on my touring bike until replaced by campy later on. Very unique design being able to change the inner chainring size and bolt pattern.
