I purchased ... moreit at an old suburban farm yard sale many years back. The steel cross arrow and James logo are flanked buy a full bodied zinc cow at the other end. The is 32-1/4 inches. It has a 5-1/2 inch, zinc, cone base-cover and a hollow zinc finial. The dark amber glass ball is 4-1/2 inches in diameter. It stands 33-1/2 inches tall. The black and gold painted surface must be at least 50-60 plus years old. The condition is very good. There is only see a slight dent in one side of the cow. The glass ball is in great shape as are the cone and finial. It doesn't appear to have any old repairs. It's held together with cotter pins to keep it lined-up. Rare Antique 1800’s Brass or Bronze Arrow Iron Weathervane
I really don’t know a lot about this weathervane. And I am no weathervane expert. When I bought this. I knew that it was a special piece. It stands 89 inches tall. And the brass or bronze arrow is 43 inches from tip to tail. The remainder of the weathervane is iron. This is a fresh barn find that has some damage and some repairs. There is one picture that shows a separate piece that is a spear that was broken off and came with the weathervane when I purchased it. I considered taking it to a specialist for restoration; however. I have decided to sell it and let the new buyer change it in whatever way that they want. This weather-vane is in good condition. The arrow measures 30" long. The horse measures 14 1/2" long from hoof to hoof. My magnet is not attracted to anything on this weather vane. I tend to think that it was made of aluminum but maybe copper.It sounds like weights have been added to the arrow to balance things out.

Here we have for a lightning rod as found in a tool shed last weekend. Stand is a 18" noninsulated steel stand. Rod is a 32" twisted steel star rod. Rod has it's clamp for connecting to the ground cable. Rod has a slim style bayonet. Ball is a 4-1/2" plain round glass ball. Ball as you can see. The ball is broken. Displays good on one side and is the ball that was on this rod when I found it. I didn't have the heart to toss it. What you see is what you get.

3 Antique Matching Victorian Iron Lightning Rods Balls Weathervane Farm Hardware
Here we have a group of 3 matching lightning rods. Glass balls and a kitetail weathervane. I personally removed these from a house here in Southern Ky. recently. Here's what you get. 3- 21" iron noninsulated stands with 31" iron twisted star rods. All the brass clips to clamp the rods are intact as are the feet. Rods come with the two piece brass cable connectors and a broad bladed 9" bayonet. Stands and rods have some old silver paint and the tips have super green patina! Each rod is marked Improved Miller Quality on the bottom fitting. You get 3- white milk glass 4-1/2" round glass balls. Collars are good and there are no cracks or bb damage. Two of the balls have old caps. Altho not the best caps but they're old. The other ball I put one copper new cap on it. None of the caps are affixed so you could put new ... morecaps on all three if you want. Finally, you get a 21" cast aluminum kitetail style weathervane and two piece cast aluminum ferrule. The kite has a sun and cresent moon design in the tail. No damage to this vane at all! These are all old antique and in great shape. Add em to your collection or find some sections of grounding cable and put a system on your building. You don't see matching sets for sale in this good of shape. You get all 3 for the money. I have for auction a beautiful Green glass lightning rod ball/ globe. It measures approx 5.5" the openings are approx. 1 1/4" on the outside and 1" on the inside of the hole. I see the bubbles in the glass as well as the dimples too that just shows how old this is. It could use a cleaning but will leave that up to the winning bidder. I do not see any cracks or chips except around the openings(see pics) nothing to bad. If you have the caps they will cover the chips on the ends. I rescued this pretty weathervane from a barn at a farm sale and it was part of a cupola(which was too far gone to save) It is a pretty cherub blowing her horn and what I did was to mount it on a piece of oak so that it will have a whole new life. She is ready to display. The cherub is all copper and hollow, being soldered all around. The length of the cherub is 26" and the length of the rod it sits on is 29" It has a few dings and bumps but they don't detract, to me they just add to the look. Antique Stagecoach Sheet Metal Weathervane
Up for auction is an antique stagecoach weathervane. Hand cut out of 1/6th inch sheet metal. Reins are soldered on. Lots of detail work on the passengers, horse and driver. Coated with some kind of grey primer which has kept the weathervane from rusting except along the cut edges. The vertical shaft is pitted with age but solid. Rusty Gold. That's what the American Pickers look for on their show so here you go! We got this antique/vintage weathervane and took it into our shop and put it on a really neat presentation. We believe this came from a horse farm. The horse has been in the weather for many years as indicated by the rusted tin. We put the 2 halves back together and mounted it on a 100+ year old piece of Walnut board which had square nails in it. This is an absolute great surviving piece of folk art. Vintage Antique COPPER HORSE & SULKY w/RIDER WEATHER VANE Weathervane
Antique or vintage weathervane that I believe is an earlier version of this type. The soldered seams are on the crude side with lots of tarnish and patina. I'll keep my age estimate pretty wide to be safe and say early 20th century to the depression. There is some oxidation also. The driver seams to have the most. From the front pipe to the back of the wheel is about 32" Several non distracting type dents that are normal for this age but the wheels are pretty bent. They do bend easy to fix. Off hand I see 4 spots where this piece needs to be spot soldered, it's only attached at the vertical bar. The bottom of one wheel to the pipe, the end of one spoke(I did that bending the wheels) and the 2 rear feet get soldered to the pipe. You can see where both feet where attached. Here we have a lightning rod ball that you don't see for sale very often. This was found on a house here in Southern Ky. This is a very rare Munson sun colored amethyst purple lightning rod ball. The ball on the left is the one you're bidding on, the one on the right is for comparison ONLY. As you can see the ball I'm offering isn't complete with the caps or tube. However the ball part is in super uncleaned condition. This is exactly as I found it. Dirt and all. No cracks or bb damage. All Munson balls are rare, even an incomplete one. Antique Smuggler Running Horse Weathervane
Selling a 33" long x 17 3/4" tall running horse weathervane from the the late 19th or very early 20th century. I believe this is a horse called Smuggler. The head isn't cast. It has some bullet dings and a few actual holes. There are also some minor dents. Largest is on one side if it's face. If you had the right tool I think it could be popped back out. I am not messing with it. It doesn't take away much from the horse. It has an older slightly worn gold leafed surface. The support bar is painted black with verdigris showing through. Comes with 1 small gold copper ball. No mount, post or directionals. Very minor seam separation in a spot or two. This is a large and very pretty detailed horse! Antique Folk Art Sheet Metal Weathervane Primitive Articulated DONKEY
This charming antique was found at an estate sale.of unknown age and origin. After some research this appears to be part of an old WEATHERVANE or perhaps possibly part of on old sign that hung in front of a shop. This is a wonderfully primitive DONKEY. His head and neck are fashioned separately and loosely bolted to the body- the holes at the base of the neck and at the mouth seem to indicate that once there were wires or string attached so that the head could be manipulated up and down- the head can still be manipulated with no trouble, and I suspect this could be re-wired. The donkey's body is made from two sheets of some sort of metal and then fixed together. See all photos to understand construction. Patina showing age and weathering. About 8" long. 7" tall.

You can see by the paint chip on his head that it is zinc and not copper. Antique Automobile Weathervane Hollow zinc with cast iron arrow. It has a few small bullet holes. One through rod under center of car. There is little weathering through zinc on bottom of front tire. Original rod and ball, ball has both metal endcaps. No repairs, as found. This was just removed from a local barn. Here we have for sale a lightning rod with an old green glass weathervane. Stand is 3 ft. tall made of twisted wires. Insulators are embossed C.B.F.R. on one and Ohio Lightning Rod on the other. The latter one is damaged. Lightning rod is 5 ft. tall made of twisted iron. Tip is an aluminum 9 point crown point. The tip will not unscrew. Weathervane is 23" long and made of cast iron. Here's an Antique c.early 1900's COPPER Hollow GRASSHOPPER Weathervane that's in SUPERB Original Condition showing the Verdigris Patina PERFECTLY! This Old Weathervane was Taken Off and Old Barn in Michigan about 50 Years ago and was VERY Old at that Time. Its been in Storage Since! As you can see the Base is NOT Old Looking, that has been replaced with a newer one because the Original was too Rotted away to use/Hold Up this Grasshopper! Here is a rare find. Don't seem to be many of these table top ones around. This has no markings that I see. The 5 1/2" base& the N The piece is 17 1/2" tall and the horse is 8x7" Eagle slips out of copper ball. Other than a scuff on the base. I see no damage of any kind. The scuff isn't really damage either, just wear. Truly lovely old piece. I am also listing another one with an horse instead of Eagle. That is a bit smaller than this one.
