Antique Early 19thC. Painted Wooden Folk Art Whaling Ship Weathervane
This incredible early 19thC. painted wooden whaling ship weathervane was found in the basement of the William J. Rotch estate. The Rotch family is responsible for establishing the whaling industry in New Bedford. Both booms are made of 2 separate pieces of wood which show remnants of original copper sails sandwiched between them. Weathervane measure 26" from bow to stern and 21" tall. Antique Steel Horse Weathervane with Arrow
This is an antique Horse Weather Vane. The horse is made of steel and has a lot of surface rust from being outside for a few years. The horse attaches to an arrow that is made out of some kind of metal alloy. It was once mounted on a N-S-E-W attachment and used as a weather vane. It could be remounted and used again. Or it would look great mounted on a wall or on top of a mailbox in some rural setting. The arrow measures 23” long and the horse measures 11” long nose to tail end by 7” high. Antique FOLK ART WOODEN SPERM WHALE WEATHERVANE Old Nautical Marblehead MA Item
I will be listing a variety of nice Antique and Vintage Items this week. Here is a Nice OLD FOLK ART WOODEN SPERM WHALE WEATHERVANE in BLACK PAINT. It is 28" long. I would guess this Whale to be from sometime in the first-half of the 20thC vintage. Perhaps Early-20thC. This whale is coming out of the contents of the historic house at 121 Washington St. in Marblehead. MA which were sold off this past month. Appears to be made of pine and cut from a single piece of wood. He is missing the tips of his tail. The larger chip on bottom tip looks like a fairly recent break, but I was unable to find the missing piece anywhere in estate. Several other crack lines in wood. He has a brass tack for his eye on one side. Two of the same old brass tacks on other side where it was hung by a string on a wall in it's history. The"rear" side ... moreof whale looks to have a drier, older looking patina to surface than the displayed side, but front side paint looks to have some decent age to it as well. Nice old whale. Weathervane Windmill with Rooster on Top from Montana Ranch-Antique
This old unit needs some TLC on the windmill. However, the rooster and wind tail are in nice vintage galvanized shape. Someone that wants to restore the windmill could do it with some tin snips, a drill and a little time to make up the blades and braces that are missing. The hub bearings appear to be o.k. as it spins. It was mounted on and is an old galvanized pipe. We will ship by taking the windmill off the weathervane and laying all flat in strong cardboard. This unit is off a ranch in West Montana. A lot of history in this one. It weighs 20 lbs. of metal. The total length is about 3' the wind tail is 18" x 18" and the windmill is about 32" in diameter when complete.

You are bidding on a TOTALLY AUTHENTIC AMERICANA FOLK ART antique Horse Weather Vane. That is made out of some kind of metal alloy and mounted on an iron arrow and once used as a weather vane. IT LOOKS GREAT mounted on a wall. The piece has wonderful, artistic lines- it's 28" long from the tip of the arrow to the end; the height is 12" from the tip of the horse's ears to the bottom of the arrow; and the horse itself is 13" long, but would be 2" or so longer if his front leg were still attached to the metal mounting. The appears to be some of carousel or circus horse, as there is a sculpted band around its middle. THE ARROW HAS AMAZING PATINA, and both it and the horse are obviously very old and weathered. Great antique lightning rod weathervane with a silver mercury ball. This piece is in overall good antique condition. With a nice patina to it. Some signs of wear from usage and age, so please look closely at the pictures. The total height of the whole piece is 59" The finial measures 9 5/8" in total length, the exposed portion is 8 1/4" With the finial off, the rod itself is about 51" The twisted steel stand measures 39 3/4" high. The silver mercury ball measures 5 1/4" through the center hole, the inside of the opening is 1" and the outside of the brass cap is 1 3/8" The ball is approximately 5" wide. Antique Pig Weathervane Lightning Rod Arrow Primitive Folk Art W/ Bullet Holes
This auction is for a old Pig Weathervane/Lightning Rod Directional Arrow that came from a Missouri estate. It measures 21 5/8" x 5 3/8" The metal pig which I think is zinc measures 9" x 5" The arrow is cast iron and is straight. The back part of the arrow that the pig stands on is designed with twisted metal. It appears that a piece that originally went to one of the back legs is broken. I have a close up of it in the pictures. As you can see this little piggy was used for target practice and has several bullet holes in his body. The legs. Ears, nose, and tail are intact and the pig is secure on the arrow. It is weathered from lots of years on the barn and the cast iron arrow has some rust. Nice Lightning rod globe in my other auction Up for auction is a lightning rod and weathervane with diddie-blitzen rods globe. The globe has a small chip to the top lip but is fine. The weathervane part has the original red glass and has the extra security of a wire along the back side of it helping hold it in place. This was from an estate in Port Washington. Ohio that had been in the same family for over 125yrs, this one appears to have been struck a time or two due to the blackness on the globe. It has the original bottom rod holder and nails. Antique full body Copper EAGLE Weathervane w/ Directionals. Verdigris patina
Antique full body copper EAGLE weather vane with copper ball finials and directionals. Has a great verdigris patina. Came out of a house in Yarmouthport, MA. Complete weathervane, just missing the base that is attached to the roof or cupola. 21" inch Wing spread, Eagle from tail to beak is 16" inches long, The arrow where the Eagle stands on is 23 1/2" inches long, the directionals are 18" inches across, and the total length of this set up from tip of pole to tip of wing is 3' feet long. Excellent details on the feather, body, head and beak/mouth of Eagle. Old primitive soldering to connect all the pieces together. Directionals are good and clean. What a beautiful piece of New England Americana. Might have to disassemble in order to fit in box during shipment.

A no reserve auction for a very nice. Complete antique copper rooster weathervane. Rooster is hollow body copper as is the arrow bit the tip if arrow is cast brass. Both balks are damage free copper. The direction indicator is cast brass and perfect. I picked this up at a estate sale and it was disassembled. I provided the copper tubing which fit all the pieces perfectly and without modification. Everything is original patina and has no corrosion or pitting. Arrow measures 26" long. 22" tall from bottom of arrow to roosters comb. Small ball is 2-1/4" Large ball is 4-1/4" Directional is 22" x 18" and letters are 3-3/4" tall. Overall height is approx 48" but is adjustable depending on copper tube length. It will need to be reattached to the pole. I do not know what the head is made from but it looks like brass(just not positive) and I do not know how old it is but it looks very old. In the Eastern U.S. The running horse measures approx. 27" long, 15" wide. The horse is hollow bodied, has some of the original yellow paint, has alot of weathered verdigris, a bullot hole that went through, a few dents, some scattered dings, a seam separation by the front hole for the pole and the flaired part of the tail is separated from the body which I believe can be re-attached easily.
