Antique Shutters- Forged Hardware
Rare find! What I have been told is that these shutters came off of the historic King of Prussia Inn outside of Philadelphia. The inn was built in 1719. Not sure how old these shutters are- but the pic of the inn I have posted is from 1919. The inn was listed on the national register of historic places in 1975 I have no way to verify the historic information. So I do not guarantee it. However, some of the shutters do look similar to those in the historic picture. Shutters have been in storage and will need cleaned. Louvers do not move but are in great condition considering age. Pair Antique Victorian Shutters 27 1/4" x 58 1/4"
This is a good pair of antique Victorian shutters. They date to around the turn of the century and feature rugged pinned mortise and tenon joinery. These have the original hinge pin hardware as well as a bottom latch. The louvers are free and movable on one side and the other side will require a minor amount of work to free them up. These are very solid however there is a small amount of dry rot on the bottom which I have photographed. Each individual shutter is under 14 inches wide so the combined width for the pair overlapped is stated above. Depending on your chosen use. You may wish to refinish these with some wood putty. But I would guess first half of the 20th century. The house dated to the teens or 1920s. They appear to be older judging from the hardware and quality of construction, but I'm not an expert. Long and the small ones are 55 in. long all by 14 1/4 their are 15 moving louvers on both top and bottom.the louvers are all 11 1/2.in long × about 2 in.wide.at the middle is a 2 3/4 in. Piece that separates the top louvers from the bottom one's. At the bottom is a 51/2 in. piece.the louvers are controlled by a 22 in. This is a set of antique or vintage interior window shutters with functional louvers. They measure 32 3/4" wide x 34 1/2" high. This is the actual pair that you will receive. They are complete with hinges and latches. There is a chip in the upper left corner which you can see in the pictures. The slats appear to be all intact. You will have to loosen up the rod that operates the louvers. The back is darker as you can see in the pictures as they would have been facing the sun.
