The bell on the inside of the house door is part of the door knob! Very unique. Easy to install! you just remove your ordinary door knobs and install this. The brass is just dirty and will polish perfect to a shine if desired. The square rod going through the door is a standard 5/16" rod. Unfortunatelly. The two that are paired up have their set screws that turn freely and tighten. There appear to be no cracks on the knobs but there are some small scratches and some scuffs. There is one very small chip on one of the knobs pictured furthest right. I did not try and clean them. I’ll leave the cleaning to the professionals. Nice patina! I purchased these 2 antique door lock units at an estate sale and I know nothing about these things. So what you see you get. One has"Penn" stamped on it, and appears to be in used condition, whereas the other unit looks like new-old stock. All have glass knobs. One of the knobs has a chip off of it, but the other 3 look OK. Both locks have the keys. Threaded spindles, back plates, mortise locksets, strike plates, and a fair amount of brass screws in a few different sizes and shapes. Antique Glass Door Knobs 1 Amethyst/1 Clear w/Faceplate Rod & 1 Set Screw
Up for auction is a beautiful. Vintage, leaded-glass doorknob set that was part of my grandfather's estate. The set consists of 2 knobs, one face-plate, one rod and one set screw. This set has one light purple, or amethyst glass knob with raised floret in the center, and one clear glass knob with raised floret in the center. The glass in both knobs is clear and smooth except for one very superficial scratch, a few bubbles and a rough spot on the clear one. I found them while taking the extreme close-up photos, see last photo) but then had a hard time finding them with my eye. The knobs measure 2" in diameter and both have brass bases. One has a lovely light purple hue indicative of time and exposure to the sun. It has a tiny bit of paint and a little corrosion on the base. The clear knob has some paint and a little corrosion on the ... morebase. It also has its original set screw. The face-plate is brass. Measures 5 3/4" high, and has paint over most of the front side. The paint chips off easily. It would be an excellent candidate for restoration as it appears that the paint preserved the brass. The brass is in very good shape. This set is a lovely piece of working American history. Ideal for any restoration project. Or it would be great for a collector. Old Vintage Lot of 7 Glass Doorknob sets. This set includes 14 glass handles. 8 round handle trim pieces, and 7 Dexter insides. Most of the auctions listed do not include the trim pieces or backplates. I even have the old brass screws. two screws are new and not brass. Each of the glass handles as well as the round face plates measures approximately 2" in diameter. The inside parts are 4-1/4" long while engaged. All of the glass is in very good condition with no cracks or chips. I only noticed one scuff. They do need cleaning. Please note paint marks on the glass as well as the metal pieces. It can be removed I checked. I would consider them excellent condition. Also some slight tarnish to the Dexter parts. One knob is the star pattern and not the round style. It also appears newer. The matching back plate with it is also newer ... moreand a different style. I would suggest putting mismatched knob on the inside of a closet door or a basement door. My house has all the star ones but I actually prefer the look of the round ones. The are mirrored backed. Im sure they could be polished to new looking condition These locks should last you a lifetime. They also lock from the inside. These should also work in a mortise style lock. Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Cast Brass Door Set w/Purple Glass Knobs Plates Lock& Key. What a rare find! Elegant. Antique, entry door lockset salvaged from Southeastern New Jersey. The set was made by“P.F. Corbin Mfg. Co. of New Britain, CT around the turn of the century. It consists of 2 glass knobs with brass shanks, 2 brass escutcheons, 1 mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1 working key, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 set screws. The escutcheons are made of solid, heavy, thick, cast brass. The majority of glass knobs are faceted; these have a rare. Round, concentric design. Originally, they were colorless, but years of exposure to the sun’s UV rays caused a chemical reaction with the magnesium in the glass to produce a lovely amethyst color-what a great accent! Restoration: At the point of salvage. ... moreSome parts were painted, and all were dirty and heavily tarnished(see last photo) Since then, we've removed the paint, and cleaned and polished the brass to the best of our ability. The lock was opened. Inspected, and greased to operate more smoothly. We made a key to operate it and could make more for $8/key- let us know after the auction if you are interested. Quirks: The shanks of the knobs are slightly loose. If you hold the glass portion with one hand. And the brass shank with the other and attempt to turn it; it will turn about 1/32" 1/64" From experience, I know that even if you turn as hard as you could in attempt to completely detach the shank(base) from the knob, you will sooner break the knob than detach the base or cause more looseness. This happens naturally, over time, to all glass knobs and is not a serious concern. We mentioned it so that you're not surprised and worried when you receive your hardware. 48 Vintage / Antique Glass and Brass Door Knobs Plus 3 Locks
Up for auction are 48 very nice vintage glass door knobs. All of them appear to be the same pattern in the glass and about the same size. Which is about 2" in diameter. These knobs are all in good condition with no chips or cracks in the glass. They all seem to be brass with the exception of a couple which are steel and somewhat rusted. The connecting rods are also steel and show rust. There are also 3 locks included. These knobs and locks are"as found" and have not been cleaned in any way, so expect to see some paint spots, rust, tarnish, wear, and missing set screws here and there. It appears that most all of them will clean up nicely. I have provided plenty of pictures, so use the zoom feature and look at them closely before bidding. Antique Brass and Metal Glass Amethyst Door Knob Set This is an old glass door knob set. The glass has turned light amethyst which is hard to see in these photos. I shot them outside using several angles. They appear light purple and are standard size, brass and metal. Please ask questions and refer to photos. Wear typical for age of these knobs, some bubbles in glass a couple of tiny flea bites on edge that are very hard to see. NOTE: In the second photo a bubble in the front of the knob appears like a fleabite on the front but it is not, it's the bubble rather near the surface edge of the knob.
