Antique Sargent Door Hardware Plates Pulls Escutcheon
This set of antique brass door hardware consists of two door plates. An interior door escutcheon, and two knobs The round door escutcheon is cast and the door plates are heavy stampings. There are some scratches on the plates from removing several coats of paint mechanically and from wear over the years. The knobs could use some additional cleaning up or could be used as is. Screws are included. The door plates measures 2" x 7 1/2" The knobs measure 2 1/4" across and are quite heavy. The round escutcheon is 2 1/8" diameter and has been cleaned to bare metal. It didn't go with this door. But came from the same old house being torn down in Pittsburgh, The hardware has not been recoated.

This set of antique brass entry door hardware consists of a large exterior door plate. An interior door escutcheon, an interior key escutcheon, two entry-sized knobs, the lock, the original screws with the exception of 1 small one for the key hole plate, and a long spindle from another door. The round door escutcheon is cast and the exterior door plate and the key escutcheon are heavy stampings. There is pitting on the outdoor components as can be seen in the pictures. There are some scratches on the plates from removing several coats of paint mechanically and from wear over the years. The door knob mechanism is operational but it does not quite retract all the way. It's been cleaned up some on the inside but not oiled. The door plate measures 2 1/4" x 9 1/4" The lock plate is 1 1/8" x 7" The backset to the centerline ... moreof the knob is 2 7/8" The knobs measure 2 1/2" across and are quite heavy. One of the shafts has been pounded with a sharp object at some time as can be seen in the 4th picture. The hardware has not been recoated.

2 white knobs. 1 white crackle knob, 1 black knob, 4 round metal knobs, 1 oval metal knob, 2- 7" X 2 1/4" brass back plates, 4- 2 1/2" X 1 1/2" back plates, 2 small non locking latches and one latch with dead bolt that is missing a return spring and screw to hold the two halves together. this is an exquisite antique lot of three 19th century solid brass door handles and back plates. they are very similar and pretty much matching with wonderful patina from age and made from thick heavy brass. they each hand a t style solid brass handle and also each have solid brass back plated with key holes and sliding key hold covers. the larger one measures 8 1/2 inches long by 2 1/4 inches wide and the handle sits 2 5/8 inches from the door. the smaller measures 8 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide and the handle sits 2 inches from the door. very rare early lot. This auction is for a set of two ornate antique door plates. These plates are plated steel- a magnet does stick to them. The coating is a dark brass color. Often called"antique brass" These w ould have been used with an old. Large mortise-type lockset and skeleton key- neither is included. The plate s measure 7 3/4" high x just under 2 1/2" wide(2 7/16" T he spacing from the center of the knob hole to the center of the round portion of the skeleton key hole is 2 1/8" I believe these door knob back plates were manufactured and sold in the 1910's and/ or 1920's- possibly earlier. But I wasn't around back then, so I can't say for sure. These plates are in good condition. I have not tried to polish them. Each set consists of 2 iron knobs, 2 stamped iron escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with 1 working key, 1 iron strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews. Originally, the knobs and plates were brass or copper plated; however, some of the plating wore off over the years leaving the parts with a nice, distressed finish. And the shank with the other and attempt to turn it; it will turn about 1/32" 1/16" From experience, I know that even if you turn as hard as you could in attempt to completely detach the shank from the knob, you will sooner break the knob than detach the base or cause more looseness. This happens naturally, over time, to some knobs and is not a serious concern. We mentioned it so that you're not surprised and worried when you receive your hardware. We opened. Era is probably late 1800's. Acquired in 1996 and in storage since that time. The door plates measure 7 inches(18 centimeters) by 2 1/4 inches(5 cm 7 mm) The door knobs as shown are 6 inches(about 15 centimeters) long. Plate and lock set(minus the square shaft that connects the knobs) One plate is 16" in length and the other 10" in length. This is a complete matching set acquired from(sadly) a Midwestern Victorian mansion that burnt. The plates are in good condition. Just to mention that there is one spot on the backside of the shorter( interior plate) see photos that is a stress spot not seen on the front side. The knobs are fabulous. They are 4 3/4" x 2" have a recessed key well. one is slightly bent at the key hole but looks fine. the other pieces are a left& right insert for the doors edge, one is convex& one concave so that they fit together if the door is closed. they are made by norwalk lock co. the black box is just over 5 1/4" x just over 3" the long bronze front piece is 7 5/8" x 1 1/8" very nice set. original old patina remains, i did not polish them. i do not have the key. usa only. paypal.
