This great early handle measure app. 6½" in length and 1¼" in width. The handle itself has a very nicely formed design with three knobs at the center and the back plate is scalloped at each corner. The overall condition is very nice with a bit of surface rust as expected and a great untouched patina. There is a small crack that runs up from the bottom center through the bottom bolt hole. Otherwise the handle has no breaks or repairs and it displays beautifully as seen in the photo's both above and below. This great early hand wrought door handle with thumb latch will make an excellent addition to someone's collection. Shouldn't it be yours! This is set is much better than images make it appear. The backplates one of them is marked Yale 14 7/8 x 2 3/4 and then has a number also in center that looks like 16765. The size is 14 7/8 x 2 3/4. I am showing all the pieces with it taken apart. It has two keys that fits i and turns the deadbolt but it really needs taken apart and oiled to work right and those keys are marked Cole National and the lock that they fit in is marked Yale. The door knobs are very nice and I am showing close up views. The inside knob has a screw for adjustment. This set has the original patina and I have not cleaned it. Very nice early cast iron rim lock with catch and brass knobs for your consideration. Heavy box design with door flange for seating edge of door. Unusual latching mechanism and catch design. Latch spring feels strong for another lifetime. Large keyway opening on box however no key to test deadbolt slide. Appears to be intact. Could be used as a passage until a key is found or have one made. Box measures 5 x 3 3/4 inches. Early heavy duty antique deadbolt rim slide lock vintage door lockset hardware
I have a very nice cast iron deadbolt rim lock for your consideration. This lock looks gently used if at all. Very nice reusable condition with matching heavy duty catch. Box is heavy duty as well measuring 1 1/8 inches thick. This is a rarer rim lock which has only an oversized deadbolt slide. No latching mechanisms. It has an early brass flat key tumbler that looks almost new. I opened the box and everything looks intact but did not want to try and move deadbolt for fear of flat springs popping out and not knowing how to replace in proper position. I assume that when you find a key or have one made that it will work nicely from its condition and appearance. Once again. I have no key. The wheels are about 2 1/4" wide and have a 57 stamped on them. Overall it is about 7 5/8" long and about 4 3/4" top to bottom. The wheel"tread" is about 3/8" wide. Really nice hard to find Russell Erwin lockset for your consideration. US and Canada Patents March and May 1900. Unusual hard to find set which includes two nicely patterned ornate backplates. Two doorknobs with patterning, mortise lock with matching faceplate as the included latch and deadbolt slide catch marked 1900 and a drive rod with a few set screws. Mortise lock latch springs feel good although should have a good cleaning and lube for optimal operation. Mortise box looks pressed and peened. not cast iron. Marked Russell Erwin mfg co. and some other stuff that is hard to read. Original finish on all the pieces is worn although it looks like a craftsman period style black with copper Jappanned appearance. Nice brass early mid century door lockset manufactured by Dexter for your consideration. This lockset comes to you nearly complete other than the two brass screws for the strikeplate catch and the original catch for the secondary locking latch that works with the turnkey. Most any brass catch would work for this. The large handle is solid brass and the thumb latch spring feels good for reuse. This set comes with two latches. One for the doorknob handle set latch and the other for the secondary locking latch. Most of the brass will clean up some as well. This is a standard 2 3/8 inch offset although it was taken off an exterior entrance door. There is no key although any locksmith could make one for this lockset. A nice addition for a vintage renovation. Vintage quality at a fraction of the cost with a low start. This is a stunning gigantic solid brass front door knocker. it is solid. Extremely heavy, and done in a circular shape. it mounts flush to the front door and held with 4 bolts located on the knocker back-plate. the actual knocker is extremely detailed and very dimensional. It has gorgeous detailing of grapes and leaves with a heavily embossed stylized flower in the center. the knocker pivots on a large hinge and knocks into a very solid piece of the brass on the back plate. in great shape and measure 6 5/8 inches in diameter and is 2 inches thick. very large high quality knocker. Gorgeous glass work! This door started life as a custom piece crafted for a Hillsborough. California mansion. Its most striking elements are the beautiful glasswork; fabulous original hardware including doorknob, rose, key plate, and strikeplate; and the truly unique carved, bas-relief ribbons on one side of the door. An architectural ... morehistorian estimated its manufacture date as sometime between 1900 and 1910. Based on its construction. It does show wear from its age and several moves. There are two hairline cracks in the glasswork. Several repaired dings to the wood window frame, and the wood joins in that frame have parted slightly. It appears as though the hinge side may once have been drilled for the lock mechanism, then refilled. The finish is alligatored, and there are scratches that range from faint to fairly deep. White paint overspray is present on the big brass hinges. All of these are shown in the pictures; please examine them carefully. The original brass hardware is included and is absolutely stunning. Key included. Which may or may not be original to the door, but it does work! Measurements are approximate: Height 78-3/8" Width 27-7/8" Depth 1-3/4" You can pick this up in the San Carlos hills. 2 antique wrought/cast iron Norfolk thumb latches door hardware about 7" long
A very similar pair of antique bold handled Norfolk thumb latches The latches are 7 1/2" and 7 3/4" long. They are early 19th century. The handles have a very BOLD knurled center section. I have other latches with this same handle The thumb pieces are 3" long. The latch bar is period and is 5 1/2" long. The keeper and staples are wrought reproductions. ask questions if interested. Watch for my other early iron items. I have lots of strap hinges. H and HL hinges. I also have lots of nice slide bolts and various forms of thumb latches- I have some fireplace items.
