Pair Antique Hand Forged Iron Strap Hinges for Barn Door w/ Hardware c. 1880's
Pair of Antique Hand Forged Iron Strap Hinges For a Barn Door or Old Door with Primitive Hardware. Offering a pair of beautiful hand forged antique iron strap door hinges with hardware. Circa 1880’s. It appears the straps were forged as a pair because the viewable design(as it would display on a door) has the same pattern. I.e. both having two holes that are set roughly the same distance apart. Plus. The white spots are on both and the heart finials are shaped basically the same with one ticking off to the top and one to the bottom. The top hinge is 15” long and is rolled back and flatten. It has a 5/8” hole. The 15 ¾” bottom strap’s roll back is shorter and more finely forged into the main body of the strap. Perhaps because the craftsman did not have the length of material needed to make the same shaped roll back as the shorter strap. ... moreIt has a ½” hole. As for the hardware. The straight 5” drivable piece fits well under the 15” top strap. In other words. It lines up perfectly so a pin can be inserted though both pieces. All that is missing. To make the whole set complete, is the pin. The hinge pin for the bottom is 5 ½” long by 2 ½” at the widest part. The size is such that it will fit both straps if someone wanted to switch the smaller strap to the bottom for some reason. They have a beautiful aged and untouched patina with good form and design. Both have breathtaking. Well formed hearts/spears ends. They are in excellent“as found” condition. I think the white on the straps is from aged. Dried out bird poop but I’m not positive. I’ll leave the clean up to the buyer as it’s my policy to sell antiques in their original or as found condition. This is a gorgeuos collectible display piece. A beautiful. Very heavy piece of BARN DOOR HARDWARE. Cast iron sliding door roller/pulley mounted on a piece of very old barn door wood. It is over 100 years old, with a date of"April 24, 1906" on the round piece(washer) that you see in pictures# 3, 4& 5. If nothing else, this would look amazing hanging on a wall as a decorative piece. The wood measures 13.25" x 7.75" as you see it in the first picture. Very decorative piece. Here is a functional set of barn door rollers. Still on the original wood. The total length of the board is 41" 19" at the widest part with the broken board. The main board is 6-1/2" X 1" There are lots of nails in it. The metal attached to the boards are 2-1/2" wide. The wheels are about 3-1/2" the covers around them are 5" across. ONE OF THE WHEELS ARE BROKEN! It rolls fine. But it does have a chunk broken off that spans about 2" They are both marked PAT MAY 28-0, I'm assuming that means 1800, especially since the wood measurements are true, but I'm no expert. I have a nice lot of old 1/2 inch offset ball finial hinges for your consideration. These are heavy stamped steel probably because of the heavy solid wood doors they use to use in the 20's and 30's in old bungalows. These have a flush mount for jamb side and a mortise cut application for the door mount side. See pics carefully. These are 3 1/2 inches. Nice large ball tips on the pins and on the opposite end of hinge that unscrew from plate with threading and a standard slot cut. Pins remove and pivot nicely and have a small friction seat bearing on each. Will need a good cleaning of old paint for your new finish. Original brass plate is pretty much shot. There are 2 left and 4 right depending on which side of the jamb you mount the door. Nice vintage quality heavy duty hinges for your repair replacement or vintage renovation. This is a cast iron. Victorian door handle that dates to the late 1800s. It measures 5 1/8" in length, has one end with two screw holes and a thumb latch opening that measures 1 3/4" tall x 1 1/2" wide and a smaller, 1" wide x 1 3/8" tall, end with one screw hole. antique Victrorian Eastlake slide lock vintage cast iron deadbolt door hardware
I have an antique cast iron deadbolt lock slide for your consideration. This is original Victorian Eastlake period door hardware. Spring feels strong for reuse. All the original Jappaned finish is worn away. Will clean up nicely for a new finish or nice as is. This was a typical toe kick release for the bottom of a door and floor. The slide engages with foot simply by pushing to engage knob. To disengage simply tap the button with your toe. The top side of the door might have had a matching slide with a chain pull to secure the topside of the door. Lock comes with a flush mount strike that is not original to the piece although could work depending on your application. The back plates measure 7" x 2 7/16" with skeleton keyhole, the knobs measure approximately 2 1/4" in diameter. Very Good vintage condition, natural patina.
