French antique bronze & iron - door bell - Accompanied by a bracket for hanging.
My lovely daughter-in-law's french grandfather gave this to her many years ago. She gave several items to me to free up closet space so here it is. The bell is larger than similar bells I have seen online. This bell has a number 140 or 40 as shown. The diameter is almost four inches(4" and the height to the top including the do-hickey used to attach the chain is also almost four inches(4" or about 100MM if I read the tape correctly. The piece is in excellent condition and left untouched. Similar pieces enable me to date this with some accuracy as to age. International bidders-Contact seller for exact quote. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SERVANTS OR FRONT DOOR BELL WITH BELL PULL
Please see the pictures below the description You are bidding on an antique Victorian bell. Which is possibly a servants bell, but more likely a front door bell from a large house. I am not sure if the bell is bronze or bell metal- there is no maker on it, just the number'14' cast on the side. It is mounted on a spring steel coiled strip which is fixed on a square attached to the wall. There is no square mount with the bell. Unusually, the bell still also has its square steel bell pull with rectangular shaped brass knob. This would have gone through the door frame and a wire would be attached to the hole in the end, the other end being attached to the ring on the bell. Its condition is good and original, but it needs a clean as this has not been done for many, many years. The bell has a very nice ring to it as you would expect from ... morea bronze or bell metal bell of this type. To give you an idea of size, the bell mouth is approximately 4" in diameter and the pull rod is approximately 9.3/4" long including the knob. antique European bronze servants bell door bell, excellent working condition
This is an antique bronze or brass European mechanical doorbell or servants bell. We found it in France. Years ago. It is mounted on a piece of antique hardwood, and it became the doorbell for our shop. The clients were delighted with the fancy pull rope(not included) and the sweet cheerful sound of the bell. It is in working order, and we have not cleaned or polished it, so it is all original. I still want to get up out of my chair to open the door when I hear the bell. It brings back great old memories.

Antique Victorian Era Brass Crank Style Door Bell 1872
The bell is 4" in diameter and made of polished brass. Ornate detailed crank is also made of brass with the remains of early paint and original porcelain knob. The base is iron. With some black paint and rusting. The base is marked on the reverse"Pat June 4 1872" See pics for condition. This piece may best be described as rare.Unique,rustic,primitive and one of a kind. It was probably used as a dinner bell but could have been used for a door bell. The L-shaped bracket is 6 inches long by 6 inches high and has four mounting nail/screw holes. The bell itself may be brass,has four flares cuts at the bottom and has crosshatch markings on the outside of it. The bell hangs approx. 11 inches from the top of the bracket. The clapper seems to be pot metal and hand made. The extension with the two loops(old keys perhaps? also seems handmade. Victorian Metal Door Bell - PRESS - Reclamation - Antique - All Original
This is an original Victorian'Press' door bell. The surround is made from metal. Brass coated copper I believe, and the central button is white ceramic with the word PRESS in a dark grey lettering. Still intact, it has the casing attached to the back and just a very short piece of the original bell wire still in place. I can't confirm exactly what needs to be done to get this working again. On either side there is a small hole for the screws which would hold it in place on the architrave surrounding the front door. The push mechanism works beautifully and springs out immediately and cleanly after pressing. There are traces of white paint on the edges and black paint on the metal, both of which will easily come off with cleaning. It measures 3" 7.5cm) across. Here's a beautiful. Antique cast bronze/brass pushbutton electric doorbell. The attached push-button makes a firm connection and pops out with authority each time it is depressed as intended. This buzzer is from a collection of early doorbells purchased at a North Shore auction last summer. It has been left un-restored and the rugged original mechanism should provide years of worry free service with the original patina. This piece has an understated Art Nouveau pattern cast into it with an indistinct"130" casting mark on the reverse face(see the images) Construction is early 20th century solid brass or bronze. Measurements: 5-3/4" Tall by 2-1/2" Wide by 7/8" Deep c.1900-1910 Installation requires the attachment of just two wires to the rear of the buzzer(hardwired) The original bakelite button does not light up.

Rare Vintage Antique Nutone Door Chime Doorbell Bell Art Deco? Mid-Century Modern? Very beautiful. Solid metal. Very heavy. Measures 15 inches tall. Nearly 7.5 inches wide, almost 3 inches deep. Weighs 5.6 pounds. Made in USA. Inside label(photo#11) says Synchronous Motor by the Warren Telechron company of Ashland. Mass. Model type B3, Model# M-22. Can adjust chime bell for Soft or Loud. 20 volts. 4 PRM. Uses an electrical hook-up of some sort- but I know absolutely nothing about how it connects. The only thing I can answer is what is already in the photos. Two-tone metal. It might be brass or just gold-colored plated. Silver/ Nickel colored front piece slides in. Very good vintage cosmetic condition. Some scratches& scuffs on the nickel-colored sliding front piece. Some paint marks along the rear sides and top where paint brushes brushed ... moreagainst it over the decades when painting the nearby walls. Tiny rust spots at the very bottom(photo#7) and on the sliding front-piece. If you know how to properly clean metal. It should be great. Was in my Victorian house in Philadelphia. And already ancient when I bought the house in the mid-1980s. I hired an electrician to remove it in 1997 when I moved, and it has sat in a temperature-controlled storage unit for the past 16 years, cushioned in bubble-wrap. It worked great while it was installed. With a delightful, full-bodied(and non-annoying) chime. If I recall, it was two-rings, ding dong. I am assuming this still works. But I will not guarantee it. Unusual Antique/Vintage Brass Door Bell Pull - Shaped Like Door Knocker!
Here's a very unusual pull for an antique or vintage door bell. It's in the shape of a classic door knocker. But the handle only pulls out about an inch, there is a bolt with a felt washer that stops it from going farther. The bar that goes across the center is attached to a metal strap, which goes through a slot in the faceplate. This strap would be attached to the bell, on the inside of the door. So when a visitor would raise the"knocker" it would actually ring the bell! Very clever- I've never seen one like this before. It doesn't come with a bell, however I would think it would be fairly easy to adapt to any vintage pull-type door bell. Measures 6-3/8" top-to-bottom, the handle is 2.5" wide. This is made of solid brass, there's one old coat of white paint that would come off quite easily(it flakes ... moreoff with a fingernail) There's a nameplate that could be engraved with the house number or the owner's name. Antique door bell marked ABBE'S PATENT. Don't know how it works but all springs and ball striker is there. When I push the lever sticking out on the bottom. The striker will strike the bell and will sound off. Back is marked with the patent date but not clear enough to really see. This type of named patents were popular in the 1870's. Bell is 4" inches across. Total length is about 6" inches long. It could use some good oiling and cleaning.

RARE Antique Iron & Brass Door House Mansion Bell Filigree Mount Pulley 1800's
Very old 1800s wall mount gate or House bell. There is a pulley and an arm on the bell for a rope or chain. The bell is large 4" tall and 5" Diameter base. The Filigree wall mount is 13" diameter. The mount is a delicate filigree iron that was probably black at one time. It can be cleaned and done in stove black to look great. One piece is broken on the mount but it does not affect the function. Very rare and unusual. Found in a barn near Lake Champlain in New England

Antique 1879 Hand Operated Door Bell Chimes Complete
For auction is an antique brass or bronze door bell that is marked on the base with a patent date of 1879. There are no other markings on it except for the number 35 embossed on the inside of the bell. The bell comes with the handle for ringing it that would have been mounted on the outside of the door. Many of these bells operated with a crank that was turned. This one is a lever with a decorative handle that pivoted up and down to ring the bell. It functions very well. There is no damage to the bell or the brass lever mechanism. All that would be needed to put the bell in use would be four screws- two each for the bell and lever mechanism. Antique Brass Electric Mayland Door Alarm Bell
For auction is an antique nickel coated brass door or alarm bell manufactured by Mayland. The makers name is embossed on the back of the bell along with the number 14. It probably operated from electricity or a battery. I don' know whether it works but there is not a heck of a lot that could go bad with the mechanism. The small tab on the right front is stamped'High Power' The spring on the bottom is good and strong and I believe the piece is complete. The base is cast iron and there are holes for mounting it on a wall. It is approximately 12" long and 4 1/4" wide.

Just lovely. This has the original iron spike in the back, the brass medallion on the front, the original clapper, and the 2" tall brass bell at the end of the coil or spring metal piece. All original, this would have been inserted into the brick or wall with what I think would have been a chain pulling coming off protruding iron piece from the medallion.the chain would be pulled, the bell would ring. The medallion has a break half way around the center but it is intact. Spring Up for your consideration is this absolutely wonderful antique servants or country store entry door bell with a coiled main spring which winds in the back and shoots straight up. Another longer spring is attached to the top, and two other pieces which are not connected; one is an iron spike and the other is metal or iron crank pull which may have been attached to the spike at one time. The spring coil, metal back piece, and the longer spring are all covered in an old greyish paint which is chipping. Some wear and cracking to Leather strap. strap could be removed to fit to Butlers Bell spring or be hung above shop door. Clanger rusted- should or clean up. Lovely tone-good door bell. Antique Brass Front Door / Servants Bell Pull Handle - Like In Downton Abbey
Straight from the contents of a recent clearance is this fine antique brass bell pull. Used by the Lady or the man of the house to call servants. Also on front doors. Very impressive. Beautiful. 3 and half inches wide and 4 and quarter inches deep. I have two of these- £45 each no extra postage if both bought. Please see picture.
