Each one weighs approximately 27 pounds 10 inches a piece, and measure 40 1/4" tall x 23 1/4" wide x 6" side to side with a 9 1/2" height from the top of the finial down to the bottom edge as shown. Lovely Pair of Antique Wooden Corbels or Brackets
Two very nice decorative wooden brackets or corbels. I'm not sure what they are or what they came off of or even how old they are. They look Victorian to me. But I am no expert. They would be pretty in the corners of a long doorway or bookcase, holding up shelves, or on a fireplace. They measure about a foot and half at the longest point. There are a few minor scuffs, and one piece is a little loose on top, but overall they are nice solid pieces. We are downsizing our belongings, hoping to move to a smaller home now that children have all grown up and moved away. We have lots of unusual items. Function/Use: Used for support the top shelf of a mantle. Savaged from European chateau in Prague. Lot consists of two(2) corbels. Structure/Composition: Made of hand carved hardwood with dark brown stain. Unstained side shows little grain ands is light honey colored. So it could be poplar or oak. Wear-and-Tear: In excellent condition; varnish is chipped in places. But no damage to the wood. Edges to the leaves are still crisp and unworn. Removal from wall was done well, no chips missing from the corbels; no pry marks or damage from the removal. The wood backing strip that the corbel is glue to is split, but the corbel itself is not. Antique collector Scottish Flamed Mahogany Chest. This is an impressive mid 1800 Victorian Scottish Flamed Mahogany Chest of Drawers with a large flared cornice top with convex molded contour front. One rare and unique characteristic of this superb Victorian Mahogany Scotch Chest of Drawers is the hidden alcove. The cornice top folds over to reveal a deep and large unique secret compartment for storage. There are five long graduating drawers with original turned mahogany knob handles with Mother of Pearl insets in the center.
