OVER 100 yr. OLD LOT of PAINTED BALUSTERS I have several old antique items to sell at my folks old house that I thought would best be liquidated here on Ebay. These were taken off the house. The paint is slightly flaking if you buff it but is mostly adhering still. Loads of character and charm. Pieces are solid and not in a decaying or crumbly state at all. Paint has helped preserve this old wood even with long term exposure. There are only two posts with old cast iron porch flag tie down hooks on them as pictured close up. Each post is different and unique with typical wear that would be naturally indigenous to this period and stature. About Us My salvage business was born of necessity in 1993 when I started restoring an old Victorian home that had seen better days. I needed doors. Staircase parts, fireplace mantles and more, so I contacted the owners of a few local buildings that were scheduled for demolition. I found and purchased all of the things that I needed for my project and lots of extra treasures which I eventually resold. 17 years later this is still my full time job! Made of solid fir and all decorative pieces are complete and fully intact and there is no rot whatsoever. These were removed from the gable end overhang and we have paired the set with a corbel from each side of the gable, so they have opposite profiles(see pictures) Due to this, this is a very rare opposite angled set that can be used for a one of a kind piece of your choosing. They have chippy off white paint with remnants of red here and there. Your bid buys the pair. Each measures 28 inches wide by 28 inches tall and is 3.75 inch deep. Overall it is in good co ndition. Antique Vintage 4 Matching Solid Wood Salvage Architectural Corbels
These are 4 matching corbels which are in very good condition. They have no missing parts and no rotten wood with only normal wear due to age. They are made from solid wood and weigh about 3 1/4 pounds each. Can be used for any architectural project that you might have. They measure 16 1/2" high. 4 1/2" wide by 5" deep at the widest point. I really do not know the age of these corbels, but for safety purposes, I did remove large cut nails which were used to fasten them to the house, I hope this helps with dating them. PAIR LARGE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN ARCHITECTURAL SALVAGE WOOD CORBELS CHIPPY PAINT
Please scroll down under this description for additional views. Large pair of architectural exterior corbels from a Victorian house. One is slightly taller than the other which is only noticeable when they are side-by-side. One is 20" tall while the second one is 20 1/2" tall. Both are 11" deep and 5 1/4" wide. Constructed from five laminated 1" thick solid pine boards. The outermost board on each side are jigsaw cut away to add design and depth, the fronts alternate the depth of the profile slightly to add interest straight on. There is such a build-up of old paint that the faces almost look coated with stucco but its just newer paint over old chippy alligatored paint. Very sturdy, these will definitely make a design statement whether you set them on a mantel, hearth or table or use them as shelf supports. These 2 mid 1800 wood corbels have at one time been put together to make one piece. I purchased it in New Hampshire like this in the early 90's. There are 2 small hangers on the back and I used it as a small shelf. It is 20" wide. 11 1/2" long and 4" deep. It is heavy weighing over 6 lbs. It has all it's original paint so please note the condition in the pictures. It is AS IS. This is a unique piece of Americana. It comes from a smoke free house. These corbels will be a statement piece in any room of your home! Each one could be its own shelf or would be stunning as support brackets for a fireplace. Shelving, etc. The architexture from the turn of the century is slowly being destroyed house by house. These corbels are a great way to show how homes were built by craftsman. Dimensions are.drumroll.21 inches tall x 12 inches deep x 6 inches wide. They weigh a staggering 10 1/2 pounds each! These ... moreare truly one of a kind and when they are gone.they are gone. Aren't these great? I love to use vintage architectural pieces whether it's here on our alpaca farm or in the city. They are great conversation pieces and offer a myriad of uses! These are solid wood and I do not have the knowledge of what type of building they have come from. Corbels in our area are on homes that were built before the 1900s but they could be from the 20s or 30s as well. Uses that I have seen are a decorative piece that was used as a support bracket for the front porch but they were widely used in other aspects of decor as well. Usually they weren't weight bearing. I don't know why I just gave you a bit of history but there you go: I love the character of the paint but it is chipping and has loads of patina because this was an outdoor item. I would suggest spraying it with a clearcoat if you would like to preserve the finish. There are lots of dings and dents but are truly a beautiful piece for bookends. Underneath a fireplace mantle, bar support, etc. Some small pieces of wood trim are missing but it just gives them more character. Many truly unique uses and a great conversation
