While leaning on a draped pedestal. Believed to have been made around the time of the centennial of the United States. These have excellent casting and appear to have original log holders. As you can see. They were originally painted an ecru or off white, and the paint has worn from age and use. The painted wear/ flaking is exactly as it should be from andirons that have been used. The paint on George’s head is much more worn, which is which is where you would expect it to be from the fire’s flames. There is also some surface rust/corrosion indicative of age and use. I see no structural damage, chips, cracks or repairs and I believe they could easily be restored to their former glory if you so desire. Approx. measurements are 21 3/4" tall. 9 1/4" wide and 15" deep. I see no marks as to maker or foundry. Really a wonderful set of antique cast iron andirons. Vintage items are a piece of history and always in style. Offering styles and construction that cannot be duplicated today. Buying vintage is a wonderful way to contribute to"going green" by recycling pieces from the past. ~Please note~ Most of my pictures are taken with a magnifying lens giving me clear. Close up photos. A VERY FINE PAIR OF ANTIQUE. CIRCA 1900, CAST AND WROUGHT IRON ANDIRONS. THE PAIR IS SIMILAR IN PARTS TO THOSE MADE BY THE ROYCROFTERS. THEY HAVE SPIRAL PARTS, AND FACET CUBED FINIALS, THE UPRIGHTS WITH SCROLLS APPLIED. THE SET INCLUDES THE MATCHING CROSSBAR. THE ANDIRONS MEASURE 36” TALL BY 15-1/2” WIDE BY 27” DEEP, THE CROSSBAR 47” WIDE. EXCELLENT CONDITION: ORIGINAL BLACK FINISH. A most interesting pair of 19th century Andirons. Unusual because the columbed tops are made of solid Bronze and the bases are made of cast Iron. Maker impressed marks to the base"WT& S" and RD.1893. Condition is age related but good with only surface rusting to the bases which can be cleaned if so desired. A very interesting and well made piece functional fireside attire. Antique Federal Period Brass Andirons, C. 1810, Chippendale Style, Full Seams
This is a pair of late 18th to early 19th C. Chippendale style andirons in brass with iron returns. Appropriate to their age. They are have full-seams, hand peened rivets, and a very old patina. They are 15.5"H, 8.25"W, and 16.75"D. There is a repair near the base of one upright, another repair at the base of the other, and some solder is visible. There is slight corrosion to the very top of one andiron, and there are a few small gaps in the seams of the andirons' sections. However, they are sturdy and appropriate for use. We lightly cleaned them to remove excess polish but we were careful to retain the patina. Please do not hesitate to contact me for questions. More pictures, and or to schedule an appointment. This is an early 20th C. pair of andirons. Tools, stand, and matching fender in the Arts& Crafts style. They are hand forged iron with shield, scroll, knife blade, and faceted ball motifs. Handwork is visible on every surface. I cannot attribute the set, and I can find no maker's mark. They do depict the medieval Arts and Crafts style, and quality, of the works of Arden and the Rose Valley Association, during that time period. If I had a fireplace in my home, these would not be for sale. This set is meant for a larger fireplace. So please check the measurements. The fender is 51.5"W, 10.5"H, and 12.75"D. The andirons are 20.5"H, 11.5"W, 21.5"D(13 lbs. each) The stand is 33.5"H, 12.5"W, and 8.25"D. The poker is 30.5"L, and the shovel is 28"L. There are areas where the original ... moreblack finish is missing and there are some specs of white paint. The andiron returns, and the remaining finish on the fender, indicate long term appropriate use in a fire place, but they are both strong and entirely usable. This is a great set of antique owl cast iron firedog/andiron guards. The owls are circa late 1800's and have the amber marble eyes which glow. This listing is for the owl guards only which are very rare. The actual andirons(horizontal bar for the logs) can be attached and are readily available. There is a repair on one of the legs as shown in photos. It is hardly noticeable in front unless you are specifically looking and is in my opinion a very good. Strong repair. There is an area in back of the owls that is raised and looks like the manufacturer's mark is probably there but is now black and I can't read it. These are an adorable pair. For your consideration a pair of cast iron duck andirons. Artisan made in a small foundry in Needham Massachusetts by Richard F H Clancey. Made in the mid 20th century. The foundry is no longer in operation. Each andiron has the name and location of the maker cast into the back. They measure 14-1/2" long by 11-1/4" tall and 5-1/2" from the ground to the hole for the log holder bolts in the base of the duck. Combined weight is 28.6 pounds before packaging. The condition is excellent there is no damage. Log holders are not hard to find. These are rare pair of Americana decorative andirons. Some would even call them folk art. One of the horozontal steel cross members has a crack through it that can be seen in the pictures. The brass has small dents and dings and some burn marks on the back side. Both andirons are loose where they attach on the bottom. Where the hammered rivit has loosened over the years. It looks like someone bolted on an additional piece of steel to the steel cross members that go into the fireplace. This reinforcement appears to have been done many years ago. This is a rare set of antique cast iron full body horse andirons. From the early 20th century. They both stand 10 1/2" tall by 12" wide by 16" deep and have no damage or repairs.
