Antique Tribal Figural Collar Necklace Turquoise Coral Colored Stones Mexico
This is an antique tribal. Figural, collar necklace of unknown origin. It appears to me to have originated in Mexico or perhaps Peru(judging from the headdress) but is completely unmarked, and therefore, may be too old to fall under trade law, or was not to have been for export. Per the book, Mexican Jewelry" by Mary L. Davis and Greta Pack, Mexican silversmiths in the 18th century built up all types of items in filigree wire-work. And also the pre-conquest indians made filigree jewelry objects. I will not venture a date for this necklace, but do believe it meets the"100 year" definition of antique. The collar appears to have been worn by someone important. As it contains 15 separate figural panels which appear to be chieftains, most in an arms out, supplicant position. All 15 panels are constructed of three-dimensional wirework, ... moreand each figure is crowned by a wire-work headdress. Thirteen panels depict these figures seated, and two panels depict standing figures. The figures and surrounding panels are decorated further in wire-work flourishes, and are embellished by branch coral, or coral colored stones. Additionally, the bottom edge of the panels are decorated in turquoise or turquoise colored stones. The tiny faces of the figures have been carved with features, and while the whole effect is quite primitive, you can see the incredible time and work that went into the making of this collar. The collar measures 33.5" around at the outer-most edge circumference. And 21" on the inner circumference. The panels are all 2" long and approximately 1 1/2" wide at the widest point, with exceptions of the panels with the two standing figures which are longer due to their shape. The metal appears to be mixed, perhaps a brass type metal on the front, and a silvery metal on the back. Again, there are no markings of any kind that I am able to discern. There is a large and sturdy hook closure. There is a loss of one piece of blue stone along the bottom edge of one panel. And there appears to b

ANTIQUE CIVIL WAR GUN POWDER FLASK HORN 1842 CARVED WOOD HISTORY
A Powder Horn dated 1842. With sort of story engraved on it, with the artist/soldier/hunters personal information, date etc. on it also. Very cool pictorial of a bear hunt, bear fight showing a man standing with rifle and a man on horse with revolver shooting at a big bear while one animal lies apparently killed by the bear and another one in on the fight. The engraved info on the left of the fight is: BEAR FIGHT IN, GREEN MOUNTAINS, JO TAYLOR, BERT TOMPSON, 1842, BRANDON V.T. Then what appears to be the artist mark or family crest or something with the initials, B.T. under it. The top of the horn looks like wood, and the stopper looks like wood. There is a line that looks like a slight crack. Looks like a neat piece of history to me, came from a batch of things from a civil war collector. Size: Approx 13" long x 3 1/2" wide at ... morebig end. Note: all the letters N are reversed/backwords and the man riding the horse appears to be wearing the powder horn. You will have to judge for yourself. It was part of a collection of several dozen such items of which I have 11 pieces total. The head portion itself measures about 1 1/2" tall.

Pre Columbian Peru Inca Pottery Vessel w/ Zoomorphic Decoration ca. 1400 AD

Reading Railroad Company original issued stock certificate dated 1960/70's
Historic and authentic Reading Railroad Company cancelled stock certificate dated in the 1960's to early 1970's. This is a real Stock has a beautiful vignette of a train and city scene in the center with allegorical figures on either side. I have red(pictured) Green, grey, orange or brown with the color being selected randomly. The Reading Company usually called the Reading Railroad. Officially the Philadelphia and Reading Rail Road and then the Philadelphia and Reading Railway until 1924, operated in southeast Pennsylania and neighboring states. Until the decline in anthracite loadings in the Coal Region after World War II, it was one of the most prosperous corporations in the United States. Reduced coal traffic coupled with highway competition and short hauls forced it into bankruptcy in the 1970s. The railroad was merged into Conrail ... morein 1976, but the corporation lasted into 2000, disposing of real estate holdings. Since the railroad served Atlantic City. New Jersey(via subsidiary The Atlantic City Railroad) the Reading Railroad is a property in the American version of the board game Monopoly. The certificate is in good condition for its age with slight creases from mailing and the normal punch cancellation and staple holes. Nice looking certificate and is a great conversation piece of a famous company. Certificate would make a fine addition to your collection or a great gift. Stock certificate collecting is becoming increasingly popular due to the historical significance of many of the companies and their increasing rarity. With the advent of electronic trading the issuance of stock certificates has decreased markedly and accordingly should improve the value of these certificates over time. Please review my feedback record and bid with confidence. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Posted with
