This is a pendant made from a large ancient Mayan(Olmec) green stone bead. The photo doesn't catch the colors very well. It is about 3/4 in. in diameter and about 1/2 in. thick. I had my jeweler wrap i n gold wire. Then. I suspended it from a fine rolled leather cord. The cord fit up to a 16 in. neck easily. So it is unisex. A gold chain will work for this, too. Really nice. Ancient Clay Vessel Pot, Human Figure Holding Items , Extensively Repaired
ANCIENT CLAY VESSEL WITH EMBOSSED FIGURE IN VARIOUS ACTIVITIES. EXTENSIVELY REPAIRED AND DAMAGED You are bidding on an ancient pottery vessel. Origin unknown, with a rounded handle and spout and a human figure holding a spear and other objects in panels around the middle of the vessel. It is slightly rounded on the bottom and probably intended to store or carry water or other liquids. The vessel is extensively repaired and glued with one shard still missing from one side and large chips from the rim. The pot is about 11-1/2" tall and 8" in diameter. While the pot is fragile because of the cracks and repairs, it has probably been in that condition for hundreds of years and I think will ship safely with proper packing. A. Stowell& CO. was a business in Boston. MA that existed from 1865 to 1904. So this serving tray is almost a 150 years old. And look at it! It is in marvelous condition! Serving dish is about 8 1/4" in diameter by about 6 inches high 1493 is stamped on back The A. Stowell& CO Inc logo is on the bottom along with a picture of a horn. See picture This serving dish is in excellent condition. There are 3 marks that I saw by the handle. They are visible in the picture. These do not appear to be cracks or scratches. They appear to be discolorations. There is nothing wrong with the plate's structure. They are just marks for reasons unknown. I believe this piece is probably ceramic. Sculpted, ceramic head; most likely 500 A.D. or older(That is 1,000 years or more before Cortez invaded Mexico and conquered the Aztecs. The Aztecs, who arrived in the Valley of Mexico long after Teotihuacán was abandoned, named the ruins Teotihuacán- place of the gods. The Aztecs and the Greeks had the same word for gods- teo. 2) Dimensions. approximately 1 inch by 1" by half an inch" I apologize for not providing metric dimensions. I live in a country that clings to ancient English measuring systems instead of the clearly superior and much more functional metric system. 3) Medium. clay. Cuba primitive precolumbian Taino Ciboney hand axe celt
This hand axe was found in Eastern Cuba about 50 years ago by a Cuban student. The government museum offered to buy it for some ridiculous low amount and the student decided to keep it. It was sold to me 40 years later. I'm not sure whether it is Taino or Ciboney. In different museums. I see it listed as one or the other. It was used to cut meat and everything else. Stone Ax Head found in Southern Arizona in the 1950's
The only details I know about this ax head is that it was found in Southern Arizona in the 1950’s along with many other ax heads and metates found in the same area. The dimensions are 3 ¾” long by 2 1/2” at it’s widest point and 1 ½ inch thick. This is a vintage item with all the original flaws and wear that showed when it was first unearthed in the 1950's. It has no other wear or damage and has not been restored or altered in any way since then. You can see chips in the blade area as well as the marks where it would have been attached to a handle for use.
