Arthur J.E. Powell letter with drawing
This item is a framed letter from artist Arthur J.E. Powell. He was an artist who painted during 1940.50& 60s. You should Wikapedia him. What I like about the letter is the pencil drawing he did of his home in Dover, NY during the winter of 1948. The letter is addressed to Elise Child who was a resident of Dutchess County, NY and one of his art pupils. He mentions a recent visit from my grand parents. He writes of receiving wild bird food from the"Southwood Queens" which were the wealthy Kinkade sisters also from Dutchess County. This is a nice piece of local color from a famous artist with an innocent drawing as a bonus. The piece with frame measures 12-1/2" by 14-1/2" One of the photos shows a copy of the letter which is attached to the back of the frame.

The tag on the display says Chavin 1,000 years. The tag is wrong. The Chavin culture was mainly from 900 BC- 100 AD, making this 2,000 years old. Either way, these are incredible. It almost looks like a cross or a four leaf clover. All three stone beads are a cream or white color. These ancient stone beads are obviously ancient from the deposits and patina. Ancient Mezcala Jade Stone Statue Artifact Pre-Columbian Rare Style NR
Hi. I have a very nice Mezcala statue for auction. I own a few different Mezcala figures, and have seen hundreds. This one is different. Most of the Mezcala figures are thicker, this is very thin. It is no more than a quarter inch thick. This statuem was made with an arrowhead drill technique. You can visibly see all the spots all around it where it was hand drilled to cut and scuplt it. This drilling is the same way that they drill out the top of a pendant for suspension. This piece has visible weathering and there is no denying it's age. It dates 200 BC- 200AD. I made the stand to make it more presentable, and it's included. It's a shame that it wasn't recovered with the other leg intact. This came from an old collection. Beautiful Boye Display Case with 31 little wooden cases. Most with needles, some without. Mechanism works as it should. There are two or three little marks on top that should clean up nicely, but I didn't want to mess it up trying to clean it, that will be up to the new owner. Hi. I have an incredible Mayan monkey bead for auction. This ancient stone artifact appears to be jade or a mottled jade. It has the face and body of the monkey on front, and its tail in back. I was trying to get good pictures of the inside of this piece. It was bi-conically drilled. There is a fairly large h at either end, but you can only see a small hole when looking thru it. The person that made this many years ago, worked like heck to get the hole thru it. It has mineral deposits thru out this piece. I purchased this many years ago from an ol collection. Ancient Pre-Columbian Elongated head Fragment from Mexico
This ancient pre-Columbian head measures 2 1/8 inches tall by just over 1 inch wide. The head is made of heavily patinated and weathered clay. The head is elongated with a distinct nose and one ear(the other ear is anciently broken away) In profile the head looks very similar the Moai of Easter Island. The headdress ever looks similar the top knot found on the statues of Easter Island.

This ancient pre-Columbian head comes from Mexico from around the ancient city of Teotihuacan. The head is small measuring just over 1 1/4 inch wide and just under 1 1/4 inch tall. The head is made of heavily patinated brown clay and is intact from the upper lip to the top. Lower lip is missing. Large oval(alien) eyes are intact as is the nose. Has heavy weathering and mineral deposits in the hollow top and open mouth. Never seen one like this before.

Honduras. It is 7-38" high x 4" rim. And tells an age-old story of matrimony. It was agreed that this beautiful Classic Mayan Polychrome Jar depicts the Late-Classic Mayan Period(AD 250) where the artists(much like the Anasazi artists) got cruder and slooper as time went on. Antique metal candy tin. I don't know what kind of metal it is made out of. I know it is old. My Grandmother mailed a tin of candies to me in California when I was a child. My Grandmother lived through the Depression. And they kept everything. Also, they were WASPS. The influence of England with their traditions of cake and other tin dessert containers must have been normal for my Grandmother that was very old when I was a child. I only saw met her a few times. In any case.this metal container or tin is certainly an antique. I looks like a work of art. They don't make things like this anymore just for your fancy. It comes from the estate with a wood and metal display stand. I do not know how to rate condition of these pieces. There are no chips. Cracks or restoration. Here is a very old and large tin passenger coach car from a electric train set measuring about 13 3/4" long x 3 1/2" across the underside. I know next to nothing about these types of things so I am not sure of the brand. The main body is free from dents and rust. The top has rust but is still very solid with a few minor dents. The large head is stylized with abstract, simple features and the back undulating with subtle sculptural features and is without detail. It is believed the Mezcala style emerged during the Pre-classic Period, between 700-200 B.C. and continued on into Classic Period to 650 A.D. Objects attributed to the the Mezcala Culture include figurines. Masks, small effigies of animals and objects, beads, pendants and earplug flares. They are carved from a variety of green, gray-green, gray and black color hardstones and jade.
